《Unexpected Arranged Marriage》Part 10

"BOTH OF YOU. LIVING ROOM. NOW!" I shouted at the both of them with all my might. Without wasting any time, with terrified looks clearly evident on their faces, they stood up from the bed and started to walk towards me.
"Get freaking dressed first!" I yelled which made them flinch. I rolled my eyes and shook my head with disgust. moonwritesfics
I left the bedroom and waited in the living room. I sat down on the couch, rested my back on the backrest, and raked my fingers through my hair, not knowing what to do. 'What the heck did I just witness?!' I groaned in my mind. I still couldn't believe what had just happened.
Suddenly, Taehyung cleared his throat which made me turn towards him and stood up from where I was sitting. I saw that Irene was clinging onto his arm, hiding herself behind him a little bit. Embarrassed, I'd assume.
"I really don't want to make this difficult," I pointed out, somehow sounding much calmer.
"For how long, whatever this is, has been going on?" I asked, pointing my fingers around at the both of them. moonwritesfics
"Umm... I think it's better if all of us would sit down first," Taehyung suggested and I plopped down onto the couch again. Taehyung sat opposite to where I was sitting and Irene sat beside him.
She looked down to the floor. I could sense she was feeling extremely guilty. Their hands were still intertwining which made me feel that whatever is going on between them had been going on for quite a while now.
"Start explaining then," I instructed.
"First of all, we're really sorry that you have to find out this way," Taehyung apologized. "Just explain, Tae. I just need to know what's going on," I snapped, which made his eyes widened.
"Sorry. Anyway, me and Irene have actually known each other since high school," Taehyung revealed. "Irene was my high school sweetheart," he added. moonwritesfics
Honestly, I didn't expect that at all. I really was expecting for him to say that they met when they were in college. Perhaps, some business meetings or even at a fashion show not long ago.
"Me and Irene dated for 3 years in high school. But then both of us got accepted to different universities. We tried not to make the distance an excuse, but somehow... We still drifted apart..." he continued and I could hear the devastation in his voice.
"I really thought that I would never be able to see her again," he said and looked towards Irene. She gave him a faint smile which made the guy mirrored her action. "But I was shocked when I got to know mom set her up with Jin hyung," he sighed. moonwritesfics

"I really thought I could let her go... but my feelings are still strong towards her," Taehyung said with a shaky voice and shifted his gaze at me once again.
"I'm really sorry, y/n-ah," Irene was finally able to get her voice out of her system. "I really thought I could move on from him as well... but who am I kidding? I still love him," she said and turned towards Taehyung, which made the guy instantly look at her.
"And you're only telling me now... Why?" I asked and their eyes landed on me. I crossed my arms but the both of them just kept quiet. I know they felt ashamed and guilty. But for me to find out this way, was still a little disappointingly frustrating. moonwritesfics
I observed the two adults in front of me and I could obviously see the love they have for each other. Now it was all clear to why Taehyung had always declined and seemed uninterested when I tried to spend extra time with him. I took in a deep breath and exhaled with a long sigh.
"Why can't you just tell me earlier? I could've just said no to the marriage and get you two married instead," I pointed out but they weren't able to say anything back.
"Y/n-ah..." Irene said and bit her bottom lip nervously. "I'm sorry," she apologized again.
"It's not wrong to love someone, Irene. But the least you could do was just tell me from the start. I would've understood your situation," I said and she nodded understandingly.
"Jin doesn't know about you two, does he?" I asked and they shook their heads as a no.
"Let's go and see him then. We should at least give him a heads up," I firmly said, which made both of them shake their heads impulsively.
"No... He'll get mad!" Irene suddenly exclaimed which took me by surprise. "It's best that he knows," I countered. moonwritesfics
"Plus, I'm not going to marry Taehyung now, knowing that you two are shagging each other," I confessed and their faces instantly dropped. "Well, I'm just telling you the truth," I added.
"I don't want to marry you just to be cheated on, Tae," I said to the guy. "And I don't want Irene to marry Jin and make her a cheater to her husband," I continued and both of them nodded to my statement.
"As much as we want to argue with you, we both know that you're right," Taehyung said as he grasped Irene's hand tighter. "Let's just go and see my brother. Listen to what he's going to say," he said and all of us head out from his apartment. moonwritesfics
Taehyung offered to drive because it would be easier if we'd carpool. I was seated in the back seat as my mind wandered off along the way, trying to recall any possible evidence indicating that these two were secretly dating.

As I was looking at the shop lots along the road, then it hit me. My jaw dropped to the sudden realization.
I remembered when me and Irene were trying on the wedding dresses. She called out a pet name, trying to catch Jin's attention but Taehyung instantly looked at her. I let out an airy chuckle, finally realized that Taehyung's reaction wasn't actually by accident, instead, it was reflex.
And there was that time when I arrived during that luncheon at Kim's household. Taehyung was waiting by the door. He wasn't waiting for me. He was waiting for Irene. I shook my head in disbelief. moonwritesfics
'Damn, y/n-ah... How could you be so clueless?' I thought to myself.
We made it to Jin's office building and Taehyung led the way. The next thing you know, we were waiting for Jin at the guest lounge next to his room.
Taehyung was biting his nails as he paced back and forth, trying to gather some courage to break the news to his brother. Me and Irene were sitting down on the couches available. Someone opened the door rather abruptly without knocking. It was Jin.
"Hey, Tae- I mean, hey... all?" Jin sounded confused when he saw me and Irene were present there as well. "What brings you here?" he asked.
"Hyung... we need to talk," Taehyung went straight to the point.
Jin was about to take a seat next to Irene but Taehyung grabbed his brother's arm and showed the couch where I was sitting.
Jin frowned as he sat right beside me. The guy was still confused. "What's happening?" he shifted his gaze between me, Taehyung, and Irene, in the effort to decipher what was going on. moonwritesfics
I could see that Taehyung was extremely nervous and so was Irene. Taehyung held out his hand to the girl. She stood up and walked towards him and grabbed his hand. I instantly looked at Jin and he was evidently enraged.
"What is this?!" Jin raised his voice as he stood up and pointed at the couple's intertwining hands.
As a reflex, I grabbed Jin by his arm and his head turned towards me within a heartbeat. He looked at my hands and I instantly removed them.
"Sorry," I quickly apologized. "Could you please sit down first? They wanted to tell you something," I said, a little intimidated by the guy's glare. moonwritesfics
Jin sat back on the couch and took a deep breath to calm himself down a bit. Taehyung started to explain everything to his older brother. Jin was silent the whole time, up until Taehyung had finished his explanation. The couple apologized to Jin.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. After all these times, he was seeing my fiancée behind my back, and I was very much clueless about it. I didn't know what to say to him. What's done, was done. I massaged my temple trying to get a grip and not lash out at them.
"Why didn't you tell me this earlier, Tae?" I was beyond disappointed at my brother. "I'm sorry, hyung. I really wanted to," he apologized once again to Jin. moonwritesfics
"What would happen if y/n didn't find out about this, hm?" I narrowed my eyes at him and he looked down to the ground. "Would you still continue with the affair you're having right now behind our back without any guilt?" I questioned.
"We really wanted to tell everyone, hyung. But we were scared. We don't want to hurt all of you. We don't want to hurt our parents," Taehyung admitted which made me shake my head. moonwritesfics
"No, Taehyung-ah. It's more hurtful when you're being dishonest," I said and my younger brother nodded guiltily. "We're really sorry, Jin. We really are," Irene apologized sincerely.
"So when are you going to tell mom and dad?" I asked my brother. "Umm..." he hesitated.
"The sooner, the better, Tae," I sternly said.
"Umm... Is it possible if you'd be there as well, hyung? I- We really need the support," he pleaded. "Of course," I gave him a reassuring smile and he reciprocated with his big boxy one.
"Thanks, hyung! I'm going to ask when they're free," he said and pulled out his phone from his pocket. I'd assume he's going to send a text message to mom and dad. moonwritesfics
"Ok then. Just let me know on the update," I said as I stood up. Since I have no other things to say to them, I might as well get back to my work.
"Wait, hyung," Taehyung said with an unreadable expression on his face. "What about you?" he asked which made me raise an eyebrow at him.
"What about me?" I queried him back. "You're the one who actually wanted to get married in the first place," my brother frowned.
"And?" I asked him. Honestly speaking, I couldn't really get his point. moonwritesfics
"I felt bad that me and Irene have spoiled that for you..." he said, with a little hint of disappointment in his voice.
"Look, Tae. It's okay. It's not like I wouldn't-" I wasn't able to finish my sentence as my words were cut off by Irene's exclamation.
"Wait!" Irene looked at all of us.
"Why don't you and y/n get married?!" Irene suddenly burst out. moonwritesfics

There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
