《Unexpected Arranged Marriage》Part 5

I heard what mom said to y/n before we went out of the restaurant. Y/n's mother's face instantly popped into my mind since I already know how her appearance is, thanks to the meeting yesterday. moonwritesfics
However, I couldn't recall meeting her in any way possible prior to that. But... If her mom is a close friend of my mom... I would've at least met y/n before. Right?
I was still wondering whether I've ever met Mrs. Kim before or not. But I couldn't recollect anything. It'll be weird if I ask Mrs. Kim directly though. 'I'll just ask mom later, I guess,' I told myself.
Everything was conveniently within walking distance, so we were making our way by foot to the jeweller's. After about 10 minutes, we arrived at the designated shop.
Irene pulled Jin by his hand as they entered the place and Mrs. Kim followed them. "Y/n-ah... I'm sorry, I have to take this call. You go inside first," Taehyung said to me with an apologetic tone. I replied to him with a smile.
I went inside and joined the others. Irene was already trying out some rings. 'Damn she's fast,' I chuckled to myself. She must be really excited because she was as enthusiastic as Mrs. Kim was about this whole wedding arrangement thing. moonwritesfics
The only problem for me was that the section they were sitting at was of the higher priced ones, unsurprisingly.
And all of the ones that Irene was trying on were rings with bulky stones and diamonds on them, which was not really what I had in mind. I don't wear accessories that much, so I think that I should go for a simpler kind since I don't want to be overwhelmed by it.
I started to walk around, scanning for various types of designs. After a few minutes of browsing, I finally found the type I wanted. I don't mind diamonds, but I think it looks sweet if it's in a pavé setting. moonwritesfics
"Yes, Miss? Would you like to try them out?" an elder lady, old enough to be my mother, smiled at me from behind the display counter. "Yes, please," I smiled back.
"Please take a seat," she gestured to me to sit on the chair directly opposite to her. She put on a pair of gloves and took out a square display tray with a dark velvety cloth set on it for the rings to be placed.
"Which one would you want to try first?" she asked and I started to look around from the display located between the both of us. "That one, please," I pointed a finger towards a ring. "Good choice," she nodded and picked up the small piece of accessory. moonwritesfics
She put out her hand and it made me confused. "I need your hand to put this on your finger," she giggled. "Sorry, I'm not used to this," I chuckled.

It was a perfect fit. I fell in love with it instantly.
"How much is this one?" I asked her.
The lady told me the price and it was actually quite reasonable for its properties and design.
"Umm... Would you like to try this one?" She took out another ring for me to try, followed by a few more. I tried every one of them but I was still drawn to the first one. moonwritesfics
Irene was still busy trying on the rings while mom was focusing on her. I looked around and didn't see Taehyung anywhere.
Suddenly my eyes landed on y/n who was trying on the adornment too, but she was seated a little further from where we were.
"Isn't that too simple for a wedding ring?" Jin asked and took a seat beside me which caught me off guard.
"I guess... But I like it," I said as I held up my hand in front of me, focusing on my ring finger. "I don't like bulky rings," I added and he just nodded to my statement. moonwritesfics
"And it's within my budget too," I continued which made him frown. "Your budget? Y/n-" Jin couldn't finish his sentence because the lady cut off his words.
"Since she had chosen a simpler ring, we can always make a stackable wedding ring," the lady suddenly interrupted. "Maybe you could pair up with a solitaire ring. So you'd have a choice. If you want to be fancier one day, you can wear the solitaire. And if you want to feel a little simpler another day, you can wear this pavé one," she explained, which doesn't really sound like a bad idea. moonwritesfics
"Can I try with the solitaire then?" I asked the lady and she nodded with a smile. "But just a small stone will do," I added. "Don't worry, I think I know just the ring for you," she grinned as she stood up to go to another section a few tables next to where I was sitting.
My jaw dropped looking at the simple solitaire ring that she had brought. It was simple yet so elegant. I actually felt excited about it. She slipped the ring onto my ring finger to compliment the pavé ring that was already present on it.
"See, it's not that bad to go simple," y/n said as she showed me the stacked version of the ring. "It's actually quite nice," I admitted. I could see that she was already beaming with a huge smile on her face.
"You really like this one, huh?" I chuckled. "Hell yeah," she enthusiastically nodded which made me chuckle even more. moonwritesfics
"Oh, Jin..." y/n suddenly said as she looked at me. I raised my eyebrows at her with a hum. "How did the telephone maker propose to his girlfriend?" she suddenly grinned cheekily but my eyebrows were now knitted.

"Huh?" I was puzzled. "He gave her a ring!" y/n exclaimed playfully. I burst out into laughter. I could see the elder lady was giggling as well.
"Oh my god! I forgot you do these kinds of jokes!" Jin exclaimed animatedly. It was extremely satisfying for me to see that he and the lady in front of me laugh at my joke. "Oh man, I really miss the time when-" he said but was interrupted. moonwritesfics
"Honey, why are you here? Come and see the ones I'm trying on," Irene suddenly pulled on Jin's arm, cutting off the guy's words even before who could finish his sentence. "Oh, ok," he said and followed his fiancée.
"I'm sorry," the elder lady in front of me suddenly apologized, which made me furrow my eyebrows, looking at her. "I actually thought he was your partner," she smiled nervously.
"It's the matching clothes, isn't it?" I giggled. The lady shook her head which baffled me a little. "Not just the clothes...," she confessed.
"I think it's the energy and chemistry you both have," she scrunched her nose.
"I see..." I nodded, not knowing how to respond to her. moonwritesfics
I then changed the topic by asking more about ring designs. I was still admiring the beauty of the jewellery. "Wait, sorry. But how much are these together?" I asked the lady but a voice interrupted. moonwritesfics
"Y/n-ah, mom wants you there," Taehyung suddenly came to me. I didn't even know when he had finished with his phone call and went into the shop. "Ok," I nodded to him.
"I'm sorry, I have to go to them," I apologized to the lady. "It's ok. If you want to purchase these, just come find me," she smiled.
"You should try these ones, y/n-ah," Mrs. Kim suggested and patted the chair next to her, motioning me to sit down. I could only sigh in my mind.
All of the ones that were chosen were not really according to my preference. But I don't know how to speak up to her. I don't want to offend her in any kind of way. moonwritesfics
"Umm... Aunty," I finally was able to say to Mrs. Kim after having a few sets of internal arguments with myself in my mind. I wanted to suggest to her the ring that I already fell in love with. Most probably she would say no to it, but I should at least take my chances.
"I like that you're choosing the ring for me..." I said and my eyes met her big ones.
"But is it possible if we get a smaller diamond? This is a little too big for me. I'm the clumsy type... So I might ruin the ring easily," I blurted out instead. There's just something about her that made me not able to continue with what I actually intended on saying. moonwritesfics
She was extremely nice to me, I didn't dare to break her heart. "I see," she let out a giggle with a clear sign of relief. "Of course, dear," she added with a smile. She immediately asked for smaller stones.
"This one's beautiful," Mrs. Kim said as she held my hand to look at my finger. I can't deny the fact that what she said was true, but it was still not the ring I wanted. "Do you like it?" she asked and I just nodded. Well, what else can I do?
"Ok, then that's settled," she clapped her hands. "And don't you dare take out your card," she said sternly at me with a glare which made me shake my head impulsively. Well, with that price, I wouldn't be able to pay for it even if I wanted to. moonwritesfics
After Mrs. Kim had finished with the transaction, all of us walked towards the wedding dress boutique once again since our cars were parked there.
"Thank you for spending the day with us today, y/n-ah," Mrs. Kim hugged me when we had already finished our tasks for the day. "Thank you too, aunty," I smiled at the elder woman.
"Don't forget to text me which dress you wanted," she reminded me. "Ahh... Yes. I will," I nodded with a smile. "And say hi to your mother for me," she said and I nodded again to her request. moonwritesfics
"Oh, y/n-ah... Can I have your number?" Taehyung suddenly asked before I was about to walk away from them. "Oh, yeah, sure," I smiled at him. Funny how that thought hadn't crossed my mind at all.
I started my journey back home. My thoughts were all over the place. I really don't know what and how I was feeling about everything that's happening. moonwritesfics
Just as I reached home, suddenly a text message came in. It was from an unknown number. 'Taehyung, I guess?' I thought and opened the text.
I bit my bottom lip as I read it. I felt my cheeks were getting warm. And... Is my heart... fluttering?
The Text
Kim Taehyung:
Hey y/n-ah... It's Tae.
Thank you for today. I hope you had fun!
And also, I hope we can get to know each other better. moonwritesfics
Text me back when you arrive home 😊
