《Unexpected Arranged Marriage》Part 4

"Hi mom, we've just arrived," I said to my mom once she answered my phone call. Me and Taehyung arrived at the wedding dress place around noon since mom had invited us to join for lunch. Also, we have to go buy the wedding rings after that.
"Oh no, honey. The girls aren't done yet. Can you and Taehyung come inside the boutique first?" mom suggested. I looked at my brother and he just nodded since we have to wait for them anyways. "Ok, mom. We'll be there in a minute," I replied and we hung up.
"Welcome," one of the staff greeted us with a big smile. "Hi, I'm looking for my mom. She's here with our fiancées," I said, straight to the point. "Yes, they're at the back. Let me bring you there," she nodded and showed us the way.
"Hey mom," I gave mom a hug and so did Taehyung. "They're trying out their final dresses. I think this one will be the dress," mom giggled giddily. Me and my brother got ourselves comfortable on the sofa and immediately took out our phones to keep ourselves busy. moonwritesfics
A few minutes passed and I was about to yawn but Irene and y/n stepped out of the dressing rooms at that very moment. I couldn't even proceed with what I was about to do. Rather, my jaw dropped looking at the both of them. They were beyond gorgeous.
Irene looked really beautiful but y/n... she looked ethereal. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. That dress complimented her figure and facial features so well. "Babe, how do I look?" Irene suddenly asked which made me close my mouth immediately. moonwritesfics
This last dress was the only dress that didn't require me to hold the bottom part with both of my hands. It was the easiest one to walk in too.
Irene took one of my hands and she took a few steps back. She looked at me with much adoration and admiration while resting her free hand on her cheek, which made me feel like my face is going to be as red as a tomato very soon. moonwritesfics
"Y/n... If it helps... Hands down, I think this one suits you the best," she said with a bright smile. "You really think so?" I was a little skeptical. "I know so," she nodded confidently.
Me and Irene both walked out the dressing room to show it off to Mrs. Kim. But to my surprise, Jin and Taehyung were already there as well which made me jump a little.
Their mom couldn't hide her excitement as she stood up and beamed with a huge smile. Jin was looking at us with an opened mouth while Taehyung was busy scrolling his phone.
I was more surprised with what Jin was wearing. I facepalmed mentally as he literally wore the same casual outfit as I did. Well, the only difference is that he had a cap on. Even his sneakers were the same colour as mine.

"Babe, how do I look?" Irene asked Jin and he focused on his fiancée. Taehyung's head shot up as well, instantly looking at her. I almost laughed because he looked like a meerkat that was stretching its neck. moonwritesfics
"I think she was talking to me," Jin patted his brother's shoulder which made the younger shake his head. "Of course. I thought it was y/n who was calling me," Taehyung was quick to reply to his brother.
"So y/n... You don't want to ask me how you look?" Taehyung shifted his eyes to me and wiggled his eyebrows playfully. I was getting flustered so I avoided eye contact with him.
He suddenly stood up and walked towards me. He was getting so close and I unknowingly held my breath. "Aww... Is my baby shy?" he said flirtatiously and I nervously bit my bottom lip. We rarely talk and I was still adapting to everything, so I cringed a little when he said that. moonwritesfics
"Yah! Don't tease her, Taehyung-ah," his mom pointed out, which made him turn towards his mother with a boxy smile. "She's too beautiful, mom," he said and I could feel my ears turning red.
"You'll look beautiful in whichever dress you choose," he winked at me which made me gasped.
"I mean, it's going to come off any-" he continued but his brother interrupted.
"Yah! That's enough," Jin suddenly said.
I was stunned with what was about to come out of Taehyung's mouth. Taehyung chuckled and walked towards the sofa again and sank himself there. Jin hit his brother's arm.
"I was just joking..." Taehyung let out a cheeky laugh but his brother shot him a glare. "I'm sorry, y/n-ie," Taehyung stood up and bowed 90 degrees at me which made me smile at his funny gesture. moonwritesfics
The staff took our pictures using Mrs. Kim's phone for us to look through and make our decision later.
"Ok... you can change your clothes and let me know which one you wanted after looking at the pictures," Mrs. Kim instructed me and Irene as she took her phone back from the staff. moonwritesfics
"You both can decide over lunch because I'm already hungry," Mrs. Kim chuckled.
Me and Irene had already changed and all of us were about to head out to lunch.
"Ahh... So these are the lovely couples?" a staff member asked while she was gathering some accessories that me and Irene had tried on along with the dresses just now. Her statement made the four of us exchange glances at each other.
"Yes, they are," Mrs. Kim answered her with a quick nod and started walking away.
"The matching outfits already show that it'll be a great marriage," the staff smiled, pointing out to Jin and me. We were coincidentally standing side by side. We accidentally looked at each other and our faces changed within an instant.

Jin cleared his throat and quickly changed his position so that he was standing next to Irene.
"That's my brother's fiancée," he said rather coldly and the staff's face flushed red.
"Oh my, I-I'm sorry. My mistake," she bowed with a nervous smile. "I should get going then. Thank you and come again," she said and left the space. Maybe it was just me overthinking, but Jin somehow sounded like he was annoyed by the staff's comment. moonwritesfics
Mrs. Kim led the way as we headed to one of the restaurants nearby, within a walkable distance from the boutique. Irene, Jin and Mrs. Kim walked together at the front while I walked with Taehyung a little bit behind them, trailing along. I still felt a little out of place since I'm not really used to all of this rich family lifestyle thing and walking around these bougie places.
In fact, I was initially a little concerned with my outfit too, but was very much relieved when Jin came by wearing something casual. However, not relieved enough that people thought we were a couple instead due to our matching wear. moonwritesfics
"Oh, aunty! Look! They already launched the new collection," Irene pointed to some handbags in one of the boutiques' window displays that we were passing by. Mrs. Kim stopped and focused on where Irene was pointing at. "Oh yeah. They did. We can go and see that later," Mrs. Kim grinned and started walking once again.
"You don't like handbags?" Taehyung whispered to me and I turned to him with a frown. "You weren't looking at the bags they were pointing at just now," Taehyung added with a smile. I didn't know he was observing me. moonwritesfics
"Oh... Umm..." my voice was trembling. "I-I think I like shoes more... I guess," I didn't know why I was nervous to talk to him.
We got to the restaurant and placed our orders. Truthfully speaking, lunch was actually great! Maybe because somehow I feel like even though these people are rich, they are very much grounded. Mrs. Kim, especially.
To my surprise, Taehyung isn't that bad after all. I got the chance to talk to him more today. I do feel a little guilty of taking glances at Jin every once in a while. moonwritesfics
I don't know why it still feels a little weird looking at him and Irene together. What bothers me most is that he still hasn't told any of them that we've met prior. I know that we don't really have to tell people, but, I don't know. It just made me wonder at times.
"I already sent the pictures to you both. You can go through them and decide which dress you want," Mrs. Kim said while we were waiting for the desserts. Irene suddenly stood up and pulled a chair to sit next to me. We started scrolling through our phones.
"I like this one, but this one looked prettier, don't you think?" Irene asked for my opinion.
We spent quite a while swiping right and left from picture to picture while commenting on them. Irene already made her decision but I was still a little indecisive. moonwritesfics
"Aunty..." I started after I went through the pictures for the third time. "Yes, dear?" she asked. "Is it ok if I give my answer by tomorrow?" I anxiously asked.
"Sure, I guess so. They have your measurement already anyways," she answered which made me feel relieved. "I want to show it to my mom first," I said out of nowhere, feeling the need to explain my request. "Of course," she smiled.
"Ok, we need to go and look at rings now," Mrs. Kim said after Taehyung got back from the counter. "Well, mom, apparently, the cashier said someone else had paid for our lunch," Taehyung said and I could feel his intimidating stare was piercing right through me but I scrolled through some stuff in my phone, trying to avoid eye contact.
"Huh? What? Who?" she asked, confused. I still avoided any sort of eye contact.
"Y/n-ah..." she called my name which made me look up. She was cocking an eyebrow up at me. Taehyung was standing beside her with crossed arms. Jin and Irene were looking at me as well.
"Yes?" I asked, trying to play innocent.
"You didn't have to do that," Mrs. Kim sighed. "Do what?" I still played dumb but she narrowed her eyes at me. She was not having it.
"But it's the least I could do," I said as I gave in which made the lady let out an airy smile.
"Thank you," she said while still smiling.
We started to walk out of the restaurant to continue with our next task but Mrs. Kim suddenly halted her steps in front of me. She turned towards me with a loving smile but I furrowed my eyebrows at her.
"You know, you actually reminded me a lot of your mother," she placed a hand on my cheek which took me by surprise and caressed it with her thumb before she made her way out of the restaurant. moonwritesfics
'She actually knows my mother? Who is she, really? If she's friends with mom, how come I've never heard of her?' my thoughts floated around in wonderment. moonwritesfics

8 205Bitter
The story of a girl who finds her life is not what she wanted. So she gets another one. Schedule: Story has been completed. Book One is available free on Amazon and EPUB. Books Two to Five are out now. Final Book out soon. Chapters will be around 500-1000 words. This will not change so if you don't like reading very short chapters wait till the end of the week or even end of the month. This many chapters a week isn't easy to pull off so please bear that in mind. This is a VRMMORPG story, but the ones I've read tend to use VR as an excuse to get into a fantasy world and then don't really play up the game aspect other than pulling up a status screen every now and then. To me, MMOs are about more than the fantasy setting. Bugs, exploits, devs who don't understand their own game, OP classes, over the top nerfs, p2w, ridiculous RNG, cash shop fiasco, lockboxes, raging players, broken mechanics, limited bag space, tedious crafting and above all that, a company trying to squeeze money out if its playerbase while pretending they're just in the business of having fun. Of course, then there's the orcs and elves. This story is about finding yourself in a completely immersive fantasy game, but it's also about what a game like that would really be like.
8 170A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.
8 198A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
