《Knock, Knock》Fifty-three

I smile unintentionally at the sight of Kathryn entering the office. What can I say, she attracts all eyes, including mine. The clearing of the throat grabs my ear and I glance towards the principal. He glances between Kathryn and I in disapproval. My smile only widens when the woman makes her way over to sign in.
"Good morning Ms. Howard" I say dopily. The woman glances over to me with a kind smile, trying to hide away her love for me. "Morning Ms. Kings. What are you doing bothering the principal so early in the morning?" she questions.
Principal Espinoza decides to intervene. "She was asked by Mr. Petes to grab his classwork while he went to take his daughter to school."
Kathryn nods her head. "Well, I hope you two have a good day. I should get going."
Once the woman is out of the office, I bring my attention back to the chubby man. Eventually, he hands me the work for our class and I'm free to go. I quickly rush to my first-period class, happy that the doo was unlocked. I set the papers on the desk and turn to exit the classroom when the bell rings. I groan internally. I was so hoping to flirt with Kathryn before class started.
Students begin filling in the seats. "Where's Mr. Petes?" one of the students questions, looking around -Audrey, if I remember correctly. "Uh, taking his daughter to school. I'm going to make a pit stop, if he arrives can you tell him I went to the uh..." I trail thinking. "Restroom" I lie.
The brunette smirks, knowing exactly that going to the restroom was the least of my concerns. "Of course, don't get caught." I exit the classroom and head down the hallway. I make it downstairs only to bump into principal Espinoza. I groan as I take a step back. "Where are you heading Kings? The bell just rang you should be in your class" the man hisses.
My eyes grow wide. "I was.. heading to the restroom" I lie. I try to walk around the man but his voice stops me. "There are restrooms upstairs. Why did you pass those ones."
I roll my eyes, internally. I let out a breath "I was going to go to my car first to get my notebook since I forgot it," I quickly lie. The man eyes me for a few seconds longer before heading up the stairs. I let out a breath and decide to head towards my car for real. I cannot go back to class empty-handed or he'll know something is up.

As soon as 4th period ends, I sneak my way towards Kathryn's classroom. "I've been dying to come see you all day" I groan entering the classroom. I stop dead in my tracks as the eyes of several other teachers' and Kathryn's eyes land on me. I suck in a breath, hoping I didn't just put Kathryn at risk.
"Miss Kings, so kind of you to drop in. We were actually deciding who would be heading to the office to retrieve our lunch. Would you be kind enough to go fetch that for us" Kathryn speaks up. I eye the brunette before nodding my head and quickly making my way towards the office. She is so going to kill me tonight!
Once I get the pizza I head back to Kathryn's classroom, bumping into Emily on the way. Her blue eyes meet mine. "Casey! My favorite student," she says kindly. I furrow my brows at the woman, "What are you trying to bribe me to do now?" I question. She takes a box of pizza, "Just tell them that they only gave you this many. I'll reward you."

I roll my eyes and shake my head. "Well, you better hurry up and not get caught. Otherwise, the reward will be double." The blondie smirks and leaves to her classroom, shutting the door behind her. I enter my girlfriend's class, setting the pizza on her desk. I bite my cheek as I notice the newly joined member of their staff meeting.
Principal Espinoza eyes me in confusion. "Miss Kings, what are you doing here?" he questions.
I force my eyes to stay away from Kathryn as I think of a plausible lie. I really needed to stop lying or else I'd get lie bumps on my tongue. And we all know those bumps hurt like a bitch. Before I could lie once again, or before Kathryn could come to save my ass, Naomi enters the classroom.
"I apologize for being late, I had to speak with a student about his grades."
I glance at the woman thankful for her amazing timing. Today just wasn't my day. I take the time to sneak out of the room and head towards the cafeteria to rendezvous with my friends...and Desire. I take a seat on side of Jasmine and groan as I lay my head on the table.
All eyes land on me. "What exactly is your problem?" Edwin questions, sipping on his Gatorade. I sigh and lift myself up. "I'm beginning to realize how terrible it is dating Ryn" I admit.
Once again, all eyes on me. Desire smirks, "I am always available" she mutters sending over an air kiss. I dodge it quickly and glance at them. I roll my eyes dramatically before speaking up. "Not like that guys. I hate that she's a teacher and I'm a student. I hate that I can't kiss her in public because it's illegal. I hate this. SO. MUCH!" I groan.
Edwin chuckles, "You're the dumbass who fell for her while you were still in school. You sure you couldn't have held back for a few more months?"
"I can barely keep my hands off of her when we're at home. What do you think the answer is?"
The brunette gags. I lay my head on the table once again, I take back what I said chapters ago. My life does suck. I can't even sneak to see my girlfriend because Principal Espinoza is always there to be the hugest cock-blocker in history. I can't skip class because my teachers dislike me. Well not entirely, they dislike that I use my restroom breaks to try and see my girlfriend.
The only time I get Kathryn is when we're at home. And sometimes I don't entirely get her. Sometimes Emily wants to steal her away for a girls' night out. Or Duke and Edwin come over to steal my food because they didn't want to go eat out. Anyways you get the point.
My life sucks.
"We need to help you out pronto. Otherwise, your efforts will be caught by Principal, big ass forehead" Jasmine rubs my back. I smile at the brunette, loving the backrubs.
Edwin and Duke laugh about the new nickname Principal E has earned himself. And quite frankly I like it. But I will not be calling him that to his face. "Anyways, are you guys going on the senior trip? Don't we have to turn in the permission slips soon?" Desire states.
I groan once again, remembering Kathryn wouldn't be joining us. "I already turned mine in" I answer moving my body a bit to get Jasmine to rub a certain itchy spot on my shoulder blade. She notices and begins scratching, causing me to smile like a stupid dog.

"Thank you, Jas" I blow her a kiss.
Desire and Duke glare at me. I ignore the two. "I also already turned in my permission slip as well" Jasmine adds on. "I'm turning mine in next week," Duke and Edwin say together. Everyone glances at Desire wondering if she would be going or not. I especially wanted to know if she was going so I could steer clear of being her roomie. "I guess I'll turn it in soon."
Jasmine stops rubbing my back and I groan. "Who told you to stop?" I complain, silently crying.
"I did" I hear. I lift my head and turn to my left spotting my beautiful girlfriend. She furrows her brows glancing at my friends, "I'll be boring her for a few minutes." I smile widely as I stand and follow her back into her classroom where my smile is immediately slapped away.
Kathryn stands as far away from me as possible. Her arms are crossed over her chest, giving me a pleasing sight but I knew this stance meant I was in deep shit. I sigh and close the door behind me, giving us a bit of privacy. Her brows raise and she exhales. "Casey, this is why I said we should keep a low profile and you ignored that rule. You could've gotten me fired today."
I groan and cringe. She was right. "We're both so lucky that Naomi came in when she did, otherwise we would've spent hours explaining to the principal why you're sneaking your way to my classroom when you should be enjoying lunch with your friends!"
I cringe at her raised voice, something I didn't experience before. "And to make it worse, what you said as you entered my classroom. Do you look before you speak? I'm so happy none of my coworkers asked me what you meant!"
To say I felt out of place, wasn't an understatement. Kathryn's words were sharp as they pierced my heart. But she was right. I could've cost her, her job. I bit on my lip as I eyed the angry woman through my lashes. Kathryn sighs.
"Casey I don't think it's a good idea if we--"
"Please don't break up with me. I'm sorry, okay. I'm being immature and not thinking about your job. I just love spending time with you and I'm sorry for being stupid. Just please don't break up with me. Anything but that" I spit feeling my heart clench. Tears began to well in my eyes as I stared at the woman.
She furrowed her brows and shook her head. "What are you talking about? I'm not breaking up with you. I was trying to say I think it's a good idea if we stop seeing each other in school. You sneaking your way here is putting my job at risk. I love you, Casey, I do but if I lose this job well, first of all, I'll probably end up in jail, and then when I get out no one is ever going to want to hire me."
I clench my jaw as I realize how stupid I was to think Kathryn was about to dump me. The thought of that happening hurts almost as much as it would actually happen. The brunette eyes me before dropping her hands to her side. "I'm sorry I made you feel that way. I'm not breaking up with you. I'm not stupid Casey" she mutters.
She walks over to me, wrapping her arms around my waist. She holds me to her chest for a few seconds longer before pulling away and planting her lips to my cheek. Her eyes soften a lot as she eyes me. "I'm serious this time baby. Don't come to see me at any time during school hours. That includes lunch and when you're out of school don't come here. Our relationship is strictly outside the school grounds."
I roll my eyes, grabbing her attention. She pinches my cheek. "I'm serious Case."
I nod my head. "Right right. You're only my girlfriend for 15 hours and we're asleep for 8 to 9 of those hours giving us approximately 6 or 7 hours together. Oh and the weekends. That's if our friends allow it."
Kathryn's eyes slowly trail away from my face in annoyance before she lets out an exaggerated sigh. "I guess that means for the 9 hours that I'm not your girlfriend, I'm totally free to flirt with whomever I deem worthy of my time."
I frown at her logic. I remove her hands from around my waist and move closer to the door. "You try that and you're single."
The woman smiles at me. "Fine fine, I won't flirt with any of my co-workers. I'll chat up Thomas instead. I mean I'm single for 9 hours anyways, what difference does it make, right?" I open my mouth to shut her idea down but she speaks up again. "Oh wait, technically by your logic I'm single for majority of the day except for the 6 or 7 hours, I'll donate to you. So at this point, you mind as well be called a booty call or something."
I grit my teeth at her answers. I know she was mocking me and it was annoying. I shrug my shoulders, "You're absolutely correct Kathryn. And while you spend your time flirting up Thomas, I'll be hooking up with my previous fuck buddies oh, and let's also add Desire to the mix."
The woman frowns. I watch her eyes turn a few shades darker as she glares at me. I smirk, "You didn't like that did you?"
I place my hand on the doorknob. "The petty act isn't really your thing, babe" I blow her a kiss before exiting her classroom. Once I close her door behind me I let out a long breath. She's definitely going to kill me at home.

I was so scared to deal with Kathryn that I decided to spend time with my friends instead. So here we sat on the curb next to the Mexican truck, serving elotes and tortas. Duke and Jasmine were sitting next to each other while I was stuck in between my best friend and Desire. I'm seriously confused on why she's always here.
I suck in a breath and decide to take my chances leaning onto the girl. Her body tenses at first and she cautiously looks at me before relaxing and acting as if this were a normal thing. Edwin is the first to bring up a new topic. "What are we doing for prom guys?"
Duke jumps at the question, nearly knocking Jasmine to the ground. He quickly grabs the girl with a timid smile. I smirk, knowingly. "God will you two kiss already" Desire groans only loud enough for Duke and I to hear her. I chuckle and slap her leg, shutting her up.
"I was thinking about inviting Cassandra but I doubt she'd want to step foot back into her old high school." I nod my head in agreement, "And I can't exactly ask Kathryn to be my date, for obvious reasons."
Desire shakes her head. "I wasn't going to go but if you guys are I just might change my mind. Maybe you and I can go together, not like as a date or anything" Desire says. I glance up, catching her blushing. I shake my head. "Sure, wouldn't hurt anyone."
Edwin and Duke glance at me in amusement. "Wait, seriously?" Des questions.
I move away from the girl for a second to shrug my shoulders. I eye my friends in confusion before resuming my position on the girls' shoulder. "What about you Duke?" I question teasing the poor blonde boy.
He chuckles nervously. "Not sure. Anyways, who's hungry?"
I smile at his attempt to change the subject. "I am! Sitting next to this Mexican truck was probably stupid on our part. I am seriously craving a torta now."
I guess his attempt to change the subject worked. Duke, Jasmine, and Edwin stood to get in line. Des and I stayed in our spots, keeping our seats warm. "Were you serious about going with me to prom? Or was that a spur of the moment thing?" Desire questions throwing her arm around my shoulder. I glance at her hand before changing my position and resting my head in her lap.
"We're only going as friends. Do not think that this means you have a chance with me" I chuckle.
The girl smiles, totally ignoring the last part. She lifts her hands to cup my face, causing me to cringe internally. She moves her hands into my hair with a wide grin. I smile at her, she was cute when she wanted to be.
The sound of a car screeching grabs our attention. I turn away from Desire, spotting a very familiar car. My eyes widen as the driver-side door opens, revealing a heated brunette. "Car now" she hisses towards me. I raise my brows, not all tempted to move from my spot. Desire's lap was beginning to warm up.
"What's the password?" I tease. Desire chuckles, "I think you should go. She looks like she's going to blow."
I don't move from my spot, furthering Kathryn's anger. "Casey, I swear to god if you don't get your ass in the Car!"
I lift myself from Desire's lap. My friends in the line eye me with sad faces. I grab my things, "I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow." I quickly move my legs and get into Kathryn's car. I'm so glad I didn't drive. Kathryn gets into the car, slamming her door shut. She doesn't say anything else as she drives us back to the apartments.
After an awkwardly silent car ride, we head into the building. As soon as we make it into the elevator and the doors close, Kathryn latches herself to my neck. She sucks and nibbles at my skin causing me to moan and bite my lip. I push her away for a few seconds, "What's with all of this feistiness?" I question.
She eyes me, "Just shut up and enjoy it."
I smirk and shrug my shoulders, "Whatever you say, my love."
