《Knock, Knock》Twenty

She didn't regret? Was it possibly the beer talking? I groan as the headache grows more painfully. I haven't slept at all last night. And it was finally catching up to me. I force myself from my bed and into my restroom. Opening, my mirror cabinet, I retrieve a bottle of Aspirin. I dump a pill into my hand before placing the bottle back in it's place.
I exit my restroom and head into my kitchen. I stop in my tracks as I notice the familiar body on my couch. His brown eyes meet mine before glancing back at my TV. I roll my eyes and continue towards my kitchen. Once I get a bottle water, I take my aspirin.
"Why are you here?" I question the boy in my living room.
He takes a few seconds to himself before answering. "I was wondering why you couldn't make it yesterday so I came over to see if there would be a woman exiting your room. But I haven't seen anyone, so then why did you lie about not being able to come over yesterday?"
I scoff and roll my eyes. I know he wasn't trying to play victim. "What reason do I have to lie to you? You should know me by now Edwin, if I have something to say, I'll say it to your damn face" I spit.
"Then what were you doing yesterday?"
"I went out with a friend."
The boy turns to me. "Casey, I get that you're mad at Cassandra and I for not telling you about us but pushing either of us away isn't going to make our relationship any better. You're my best friend Casey, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about us. I just thought you weren't ready to hear that kind of news."
"You know Edwin, best friends don't keep secrets from each other. When I found out I was gay, you were the first person I told because I knew no matter what, you'd support me. I told you all of my secrets, many of them were embarrassing. But I never kept something away from you. If the roles were switched you'd understand my feelings. If you had a sister and I was dating her for a year without telling you, you'd understand."
Our conversation stops as knocking is heard at my door. I sigh and head towards my door. I open it, not knowing who to expect. But at the sight of Cassandra only further ignites my anger. "I don't want to fight" is the first thing she says.
I shrug my shoulders and let her in. I close the door behind her. "I don't know if you two heard, but last night there was a group of teenagers who tried to rob a liquor store. Want to guess who one of them was?" Cassandra says. She takes a seat next to Edwin.
I raise my brow in question. "Who?" Edwin asks. I watch in pure disgust as his hand lands on her leg, rubbing it. I'm going to be sick. "Eric Brown. Your little Halloween party thrower."
"What does that mean? The party is canceled?"
"What else could it mean idiot. He's either in a jail cell or his parents have him under lockdown" I spit towards Edwin in annoyance. Fucking great. This Saturday was starting off terrible. Well minus the memory of kissing Kathryn. I smile at the thought.

But what did this mean? We're just going to do nothing this Halloween? Does this town know how many annoyed teens there will be? "So what are we going to do?"
Cassandra eyes me. "Duke and Diana are trying to get something together. You know their parents could care less what they do as long as their safe is safe and nothing in the house gets trashed."
"They need you two to text around, tell people where the new spot for tonight's party is going to be. Diana and I are of legal age so we're buying all the booze. But this party is obviously not going to be like Eric's since Diana and I are college students. So it's going to be a mix. A few of the Frat idiots at her school are willing to help as well."
It seemed like everything was falling through after all.

Edwin and I had arrived to Duke's house. The sight of shirtless college boys caused me to gag. I would very much rather see shirtless college women. Edwin and I enter the home almost immediately getting hit with men moving certain furniture.
"Where the hell are they taking the furniture?" I question watching them exit the house. As if on cue, Duke emerges from behind a wall. "Oh, good you guys are here. I need help in the back yard."
I didn't sign up for this. However, we follow behind. As we get outside, I spot several kegs. Was this party appropriate for teens? I knew that many people were going to have huge hangovers after tonight. "How is this going to work? Isn't this neighborhood filled with mostly old people or something? They'll surely call the cops."
Duke shakes his head. "The neighborhood is filled with people in their late 20's, early 30's. They'll understand and they'll let us slide just for tonight."
Yeah, right. There's going to always be that one asshole. Duke immediately puts us to work. Setting up games and other bull.
An hour passes when the beer and other spirits arrive. We help them bring it in. Setting them down in several parts of the home. After a while everything is set up. All that's left is for people to arrive. "Ladies, let's go get dressed" Diana says her eyes meeting mine. I can't help but to smirk and nod my head.
We all head towards her old room. We're all ladies, right. Nothing to hide. Diana meets my side and begins stripping out of her normal clothes. My eyes betray me as I eyes her figure. Damn. She's hot. "Can you two seriously keep it in your pants until we get out of here?" Cassandra gags from the dresser. Diana chuckles and nods her head.
Once everyone else is dressed in their costumes, they leave the room. "We'll be a minute" Diana smirks towards my sister, shooing her out.
A minute was too short. Diana turns towards me, "So who'd you get Friday to help you suppress your urges?"
I roll my eyes, "Wow, you think I had sex with someone else. Don't be jealous babe."
"Well, I know you and it only makes sense that you'd fuck someone else. Was it Alice? Juliet? Your new girl, what's her name? Jasmine?"

I laugh, "I really didn't have sex with anyone. I had a date with my neighbor. And we might have also kissed" I admit. I hadn't even told Edwin yet. I was being hypocritical. Diana smiles, "You like her?"
"I fear that I do. A little too much." The blonde smiles, "I'm proud of you. I told you love will come again and look at you. Already having a crush on your neighbor. I have to meet her now. And you've got to stop sleeping around if you want things between you two to be fine."
There's a knock on the door startling us. "Babe?" a manly voice is heard. I smirk. Diana, you sly dog. Flirting with me while your boyfriend is out there. Sneaky and sexy. "I'm almost done, Jake. Just go hang out with the guys!"
I shove the girl. "Go hang out with your boyfriend. You need to take your own advice. Stop sleeping around if you want things to between you two to be fine."
"Oh. Honey, they are. Jake knows about you. He doesn't care if I sleep with you because you're a girl. It's a different story if you were a guy."
Oh so Jake is that kind of guy. Confident enough to not feel threatened by a girl but not confident enough to not feel threatened by a guy. He and I might become real great friends. Diana kisses my cheek and finishes dressing before leaving me in the room by myself.
Tonight is going to be a wild night. I can surely feel it. I smirk and continue dressing myself before exiting the room. I'm a little startled by the few faces around. Seems like people have started to arrive. It's still too early for anything exciting to happen. I head into the kitchen to fix me a cocktail.
I stay in a far corner from everyone else as more teens and young adults arrive. Hour by hour, the party seems to get more exciting. The music is louder and louder the longer you stay.
Soon enough, the smell of sweat and liquor takes over your sense of smell. I groan as I fix myself another cocktail before heading outside towards the pool. I bump into a few dancing bodies, many of them happening to be men, which grosses me out. Mainly because they're all shirtless. Once outside, my eyes fall on two familiar faces.
Cassandra and Edwin. And of course, the two are kissing. I suck my teeth and turn to make my way back into the house. I needed to get drunk. I needed to forget about all my problems. There was just one thing I didn't want to forget. Or rather one person.
I sigh and head back into the kitchen to fix myself a stronger drink.
- - - - -
"Casey, you're drunk" Diana sighs as she pulls me out of the house. I shake my head and laugh. "I'm not drunk! You are!" I slur. The blonde groans and leans me against a random car in the driveway. I knew she was annoyed with me, but I was having fun, it was Halloween night after all.
Maybe I did do too much by punching that boy who wore a clown suit. But he was totally coming at me with an axe. I was defending myself! "I told you to be a responsible drinker tonight, you never fucking listen."
I shrug my shoulders and throw my arms around the woman bringing her closer towards me. "I'm sorry babe" I apologize before pulling her lips onto mine. The kiss is bitter. Everyone knows vodka and wine don't mix. I ignore it though, as I shove my tongue past her lips. Our tongues fight for dominance before I ultimately win.
My hands travel down her back and to her waist pulling her closer, meshing our bodies. It just didn't feel the same. Diana might've been the first person I ever officially kissed, but her lips don't do me as much justice as Kathryn's did. This kiss felt empty and forced, like our connection was faltering.
I push the blonde away from me with a frown. "It's not the same" I hiss. She eyes me in confusion. But before she can question what I meant, I rush towards my car. Once inside, I crank it up.
"Casey, you're drunk. You shouldn't be driving!" the girl sighs. I ignore her as I drive away from the raging house filled with drunk teens and young adults. I needed to make sure I wasn't going crazy.
After illegally driving back home, I crookedly park my car and rush into the apartment building. I bump into a few people on my way to the elevator but I don't have time to stop and apologize. I get into the elevator and press my floor button. "Hurry up you piece of shit" I yell at the tin box as if it would grant my wish.
After a long 30 seconds, I arrive at a familiar apartment door similar to my own. I catch my breath before knocking. I wait almost impatiently to see that beautiful open the door. Feeling my heartbeat increase, I knock again, hoping for a quicker response. Was she not home? I try to be a little more patient before knocking again, this time louder.
"I said I'm coming! Damn, can a girl shower in peace?" I hear Kathryn's voice on the opposite side of the door causing me to smile.
She takes a second before opening the door. I smile wider at the marvelous sight. "Casey? Hey what are you doing here?" she questions glancing past me and down the hall. "Trick or treat?" I joke. Kathryn raises her brows with a smile, "What happens if I pick treat?"
"Pick it and see." The woman eyes me cautiously. "I choose trick" she jokes. I shrug my shoulders as I move closer to her. It didn't matter which one she chose, I was going to kiss her either way. I quickly swoop in and bring her lips to mine. And just as expected, I feel the one thing I didn't feel when I kissed Diana.
I guess that sums it all up. I really do like this woman.
