The next morning Oscar was woken up by the covers being forcefully pulled off of his head. He was momentarily blinded by the sudden blaze of light in his eyes. After they had adjusted he saw Kim towering over him, smiling wide.

"What are you doing here?" He groaned and rolled over.

"Get up sleepyhead. It's 2 in the afternoon." She said, and pulled the covers off of him further.

"It's cold!" He whined.

"Well get up and get dressed, and it won't be!" She said, and threw him a t-shirt that she picked up from the floor.

Oscar slipped it on and asked, "Why are you here?"

"Uh, we're going to the movies? We planned this weeks ago. Don't you remember?"

Oscar didn't.

"Yeah I remember," he said. "I thought the movie was tonight though?"

"It is, but I need your help with something first," she said.

"Help with what?" Oscar questioned.

"Just come on!" She said, before suddenly yanking Oscar out of bed and towards the door.

"Hold on! I need my shoes." Oscar pulled away and sat back down.

"Okay, hurry up. I'll be in the car." Kim said, and headed for the stairs.

Once she had left the room Oscar had a second to breathe.

Holy shit. I actually kissed Noah last night. And he kissed me back.

He grabbed his phone and checked it.

Slightly disappointed, Oscar pulled on a pair of jeans and his shoes, and followed Kim to her car.

He sat down in the passenger seat and Kim drove off.

"So, where are we going?" he asked.

"To my house. Okay, I didn't want to tell you before because I didn't want you to back out but you remember Damon from our chem lab? He's going to the movie with us, and it's kind of like a date," she said, and smiled weakly.

"A date? Then why am I going?" Oscar questioned.

"Just in case Damon gets creepy or is super boring. I don't know, I've never been out with him," she said.

"But anyway, I need you to help me decide what to wear."

"You know I'm not good at that shit," Oscar whined.

"Oh my god, shut up. You'll do fine," she replied.

They got to Kim's house and when they went inside, her moms were both in the kitchen.

"Hi Oscar!" they both said, cheerily.

Kim's mom, Lynette, was a middle-aged woman with long, wavy, ash blonde hair. She had full lips and a contagious smile; freckles dotted around her warm, brown eyes.

Kim's other mom, Natalie, had her brown hair up in a tight bun. She had pale blue eyes, and dimples that were visible even when she wasn't smiling.

Both women were wearing 'Kiss the Cook' aprons. Lynette was at the sink washing vegetables, and Natalie was bent over a cutting board preparing a chicken. They both turned their heads toward Oscar and Kim at the same time.

"Hey guys, what're you doing tonight?" Natalie said, while wiping her hands on a dish towel.

"We're just going to a movie. Oscar's here to help me pick out an outfit," Kim said as the two began to climb the stairs to her room.

"Okay, y'all have fun!" Lynette said, before returning to her vegetables.

When in her room, Kim first entered her walk-in closet and slid the door closed behind her.

Oscar walked into the room behind her and sat down on Kim's bed. "Wait there, I'll be right out!" she yelled.

The walls of Kim's room were a pale green color and decorated with many poster's of various bands that she listened to. There was a twin-sized bed with purple covers in one corner, and a large beanbag chair in the other. Against the opposite wall was a small desk with a computer on it and various papers strewn about.

While Oscar sat looking around at the room he had spent many nights in singing karaoke and watching horror movies, Kim sashayed out of the closet.

The outfit she had put on consisted of a pair of jean shorts, some black and white Adidas Superstars, and a white crop top with a flannel tied around her waist.

She posed in front of the full length mirror and asked, "So, what do you think? Too casual?"

Oscar apprehensively answered, "Well, it is casual... I don't know about too casual... "

"Yeah you're right, next!" Kim said, and was promptly back in the closet.

She next appeared wearing a pair of brown wedges, some high-waisted blue skinny jeans, and a knit, maroon tank top under a cream-colored cardigan.

She jumped out of the closet and stuck a pose in front of Oscar. With her hands on her hips she questioned, "Thoughts?"

"It's uh, nice... " Oscar began.

"Come on! I need specifics! Does this say 'I want to have a good time tonight, Damon?' or does it say 'I'm far too refined for that kind of tomfoolery?'" She asked.

"Uh, yes? Kim, I told you I suck at this," Oscar sighed, and chuckled slightly.

"Yeah, you really do." She said, before chucking a throw pillow at him. "Okay, next one!" She said, and was off into the closet.

Minutes later she came out of the closet, clad in black ankle boots, and some black, ripped, high-waisted skinny jeans. She was also wearing a maroon crop top, and over it was an olive green bomber jacket.

"So, what about this one?" She asked, while checking herself out in the mirror.

"Yeah, it looks great. Everything you wear does," Oscar said.

She laughed, "Aww, thanks, but that's a lie." She turned around to face him, and smiled proudly. "I think this is the one too. Do you think Damon will like it?"

"He'd be crazy not to," he said, and leaned back onto the bed.

"Shut up, you're so corny," Kim teased, and jumped onto the bed beside the boy.

A silence fell over the room.

Oscar began, "So uh, you're really into Damon?"

"Yeah, I guess," She said. "He seems nice, but we've never really hung out before."

"Yeah," Oscar said weakly, before laying back onto the bed and sighing.
