I sit down on the couch and untie the black ribbon on the black box. I take a breath before taking off the lid and there was a piece of paper with writing in red.
What the hell. I rip the piece of paper up and go to the kitchen putting it in the bin. Some people can be really strange these days. I try to stop thinking about it and grab the blanket on the couch and sit down and turn on the tv waiting for Juliet to come home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hear the front door unlock and lock again. Juliet walks into the living room her hair all messed up and she stumbles in.
"Look who decided to come home." I smile at her and she didn't look at me and she takes off her boots.
"Hello?" I say and she finally meets my eye and somethings was wrong.
"What's wrong?" I stand up and she immediately steps back against the door holding up her hand.
"Please don't touch me." She says and her voice comes out almost dry.
"Julie what's wrong?" I ask.
"Nothing, I'm just really tired." She says and walks out of the living room and upstairs. I follow her confused.
I follow her into our room and she sits down on the bed and her mascara was messed up, she had been crying.
"Juliet what's wrong?" I ask her and she shakes her head looking down and I go sit beside her and touch her arm and she starts crying.
"Julie?" I say confused.
"Please leave me alone." She whispers.
"Did I do something?" I ask her.
"No Spencer. Leave the fucking room." She snaps and more tears run down her face.
"Juliet why-"
"Leave." She says and I sigh and stand up. I look at her before walking out of our room and closing the door and I walk back downstairs to the living room confused why she's crying.
I sit down in the couch biting my thumb and my phone buzzes. I pick it up.
A few minutes later I hear the door unlock and Maria walks in. She walks into the living room and looks at me.
"Where's grumpy grandma?" She asks and I stand up.
"In our bedroom, she's gonna murder you if you go in there." I say and she rolls her eyes and walks out and I follow her up the stairs and into me and Juliet's bedroom and Juliet wasn't in our bedroom but I could hear the water running.
"She's in the the shower." I say and Maria groans.
"Give me permission to see your wife naked again and I'll go in." She says and I roll my eyes.
"We can wait out here for her." I say and she huffs and goes over jumping onto the bed.
"Your bed is so comfortable, how do you get out of it in the morning?" She asks and I shrug.I go over and sit on the bed waiting for Juliet to come out.
Juliet finally comes out of the bathroom wearing her long sleeved pyjama shirt and pants. She was drying her hair with a towel and she stops when she sees me and Maria.
"What is this?" She asks.
"Calm down Juliet, we want to know what's wrong. Spencer told me you came back crying and you won't tell her what's wrong." Maria says and Juliet sighs.
"I'm tired-"
"You came home crying, somethings obviously wrong and Spencer's being a good wife and you are shutting her out." Maria says and Juliet takes a deep breath and it's shaky.
"I want to go to sleep." She says and her eyes start tearing up and she closes her eyes trying to stop the tears.
"Julie, you always say we can talk to each other. You come home crying and not tell me anything." I say and she doesn't look at me.
"I'm not telling-"
"So what you are just going to shut Spencer out?"
"I-"
"You always tell Spencer to tell you what's wrong." Maria says and tears start rolling down Juliet's face and I can tell something is really affecting her.
"Maria it's fine I-"
"No it's not, she can't just sit here and cry. Talk it out Juliet it helps-"
"I got dragged down an alley trying to go home and two men starting touching me and telling me how sexy I look, they started touching my boobs and I tried to get away and they grabbed my wrist. I eventually got away after screaming for help and nobody came, I had to use all my strength and it was barely enough." She says and she breaks down crying and my heart breaks and I stand up going over to her and she holds up her hand.
"Don't touch me please." She looks at me and I look at her.
"I want hurt you Juliet." I say calmly and put up my hands showing her.
"I don't want to be near anyone." She says and I look at her for a second before nodding. I look to Maria and she sat on the bed looking at the wall and I nod towards the door and she quickly gets up and we walk out but I stop at the door.
"I love you Julie." I say and she doesn't say anything getting into bed.
I follow Maria downstairs and she walks over to the door.
"I'm going home." She says and walks out closing the door without another word. My heart broke for Juliet, I want to sit next to her and just hug her telling her everything will be okay but I can't because she doesn't feel safe around me.
I should of been there with her at the bar and she wouldn't have got hurt, I should of texted again and when she didn't respond I'd know something was wrong and I'd be able to go help her but no I stayed home and let my wife get hurt.
Her father changed everything, becoming rotten and abusive to the point it caused her to stop speaking entirely. Eleven years later and she still lives by his rules, trapped under his thumb. She has nowhere to go; no life outside the awful one she's forced into at home, and any time she tries to speak, her voice fails her. Without much hope left, she suffers in silence. Until moving to a new town changes everything. Arriving at her new school, Eirenae immediately catches the attention of six students. They're the nicest anyone has ever been to her, but everything about them strikes her funny: they're naturally perfect, have insane athletic reflexes, and they keep using strange words like "Alpha", "Luna", and "pack". On top of it all, their eyes horrifyingly seem to change color and no matter how much she runs or gives hints she should be left alone, they won't stop being overly friendly. No one seems to be willing to explain anything to her, so maybe it's time to bring her life back into her own hands, discover what has been hiding from her past, and let herself be rescued. . . and maybe not particularly in that order!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-Book 1 of War of the Wolves-Precedes "Fatal War"-Started: August, 2018- Completed: May 1st, 2019-#1 in Abuse: 9/21/2019-#1 in Mate 10/5/2019-#1 in luna 10/16/2019-#3 in Werewolf 12/26/2019-#1 in Whitewolf 1/28/2020-#1 in Mute 2/9/2020-#2 in Telekinesis 4/25/20-#1 in Royalwolf 3/15/22
To do list for the post apocalypse: 1. Survive the orcs rampaging through your city. 2. Survive the pod trying to steal your mind. 3. Pull off the greatest heist of all time. It still amazed Eric how much the world’s end mirrored the movie his obsessed mother had put into production… set to release just three days after the Apocalypse. But humanity wasn’t completely helpless. You really could level up in this brave new world, and embrace magic, peril, and limitless power! So long as you didn’t mind a 90% mortality rate in alien vegetative pods as happy to turn you into topsoil as give you any shot at mastering a System designed to benefit elite invaders. Not fragile humans just trying to survive. But Eric was all about beating the odds… Even if it killed him. Author's Note - I plan in releasing 1 chapter a day for the first thirty days. I will then be posting at least 3 times a week. This story is for anyone who enjoys slow-rise-to-power story arcs! Our hero will start out humbled and desperate, struggling just to survive. And slowly, with time, diligence, and training his butt off, he'll evolve into a powerhouse that will force even his enemies to treat him with respect. Enough gold to live like a king… or start a city of your own!
