"Pass the greens please momma," My mom looked up from cutting her steak and handed me the salad. I loaded my plate full and added a bit of dressing.

"Are you going to have some steak also honey?" She asked me.

"Yes ma'am, not right now though," I smiled at my mother.

"Olivia leave her alone, you know teenagers these days."

"What do you mean daddy?"

"Organic hippies, you know honey."

I smiled,"Daddy I'm not a hippy."

He looked at me, "Of course not honey, I'm just saying."

Before I could reply the doorbell rang, "I got it," getting up from the table I sat my napkin down to answer the door.

Opening the door I come face to face with her, "hello my mother is making me socialize with the neighbors, I brought cookies," she looks up, "but I bet you don't want the cookies."

I shook my head, "yes I would, my mom would kill me if I refused to take a genuine gift."

"Honey who is it?"

"Speaking of," my mother comes behind me.

"Oh hello!" Grace puts on a smile.

"Hi, my mom baked cookies and thought what better way than to send me to socialize with the neighbors!"

"What a sweetheart! Would you like to come in?" She took the cookies

"Oh no, I should get back now. It was nice to meet you though."

"You to sweetheart," Grace made her way back to the house that lays directly in front of mine. I watched her walk inside her house.

"What a sweet girl," mom walked back inside with the basket of cookies.

I followed after her, "may I be excused?" I asked.

"Of course honey," I walked upstairs and to my room.

I hadn't seen Grace since Monday when she walked off on me. Now it's Wednesday and she pops in on our family dinner. Strange girl she is.

The next morning was like any other besides for the fact that Fin picked me up in his truck. A surprise to me because he hated to take his baby out of the garage in fear of anything happening to it. Fin owned a shiny red wrangler that he loves dearly.

So when he showed up ten minutes before I was about to leave to say I was surprised is an understatement.

"Babe are you sure there's no occasion I forgot about?" I asked for the millionth time. He chuckled.

"No occasion I just wanted to pick you up for a change."

I looked at him curiously, "Ok."

Fin parked and we made our way inside school. Going to our lockers we both put our bags up, "oh babe I got chocolate chip cookies. Homemade, you want one?"

"Don't mind if I do," He smiled as I handed him one of the cookies Grace gave me.

"Hey Bethany, you guys want cookies?" I asked as they passed our lockers as usual.

"And cheat on our diets. With pleasure!" She smirked and took a cookie along with a few other girls leaving me with three cookies left. I smiled and took one for myself.

To add on to the unusual things happening Grace passed by my locker. I excused myself and followed after her. She was hanging out with a few seniors I didn't know.

"Hey Grace, hey stop," she turned around.

"Oh it's you," her group stopped also and turned to look at me.

"Yah it's me. I bought the cookies from yesterday . Would you like one?" Her nose scrunched up in disgust.

"No, leave me alone."

"I'm sorry for being nice," I was confused by her attitude. What did I do to her?

"No one asked for you to be nice," she slightly raises her voice at me. I held up my arms in surrender.

"I'm sorry," I decided it was best to walk away.

"That's Brooke Farewell best to be nice to her," I heard one of friends say before I walked away and to my class.

🌧🌧🥶🥶💙💙

It started to rain by the time school was over dark grey clouds seemed to roll in from nowhere. I made my way through the pouring rain to Fin's truck only to find that he wasn't there. Going back to the building I find myself locked out pulling out my phone I dial his number.

To my dismay it goes straight to voicemail. I curse under my breath. The rain started to come down faster and harder. I was just about soaked from head to toe my only worry being my phone and my school books. Dialing him out again I reach his voicemail again.

Where could he be? I'm freezing. The rain slows down and comes to a light sprinkle. The door to the building opens, "don't shut it please!" I beg as the person holds open the door. I go inside and stay on the mat that's put down on the floor.

"You're soaking wet," the person says. I turn around, "don't you like have a car or something?" I shook my head.

"I rode with my boyfriend, but have no clue where he is," Grace nods her head and sighs.

"Do you want a ride home?"

My eyes widen, "Why the sudden change of attitude? You were just being hostile to me hours ago."

"Hey I was just trying to be nice but-"

I cut her off, "Yes! I want a ride please, I'm freezing."

She nods her head, "That's what I thought let's go."

"Can I leave my book bag in my locker first? I don't want it to get worse than it already is."

"Sure just hurry."

I ran to my locker and threw my book bag inside, then ran back to Grace. I follow her out to the parking lot.

"This is yours?" I asked, looking at the death trap.

"Yes, isn't she a beauty?" She threw her leg over the motorcycle and put on a helmet then she handed me one.

"I don't know about this, my mother would kill me," she shook her head and revved the engine.

"Live a little, or not and stay out here to wait for your boyfriend," the rain started to pick up. I threw on the helmet and hopped on hanging on tight.

A block away from our houses it started to pour again Grace stopped her bike not being able to see and we rushed home on foot. By the time we got to our houses we could probably ring out our clothes and fill a pool. I rushed inside my house attempting to not get everything wet.

Stopping in the process at the door bell ringing, I went back down stairs and opened the door, "I'm locked out of my house."

I laughed and motioned for her to come in. We both stood sopping wet in the kitchen, "How did you manage to get locked out?"

"My mom forgot to put the key under the mat, again."

I laughed, "I think I have a spare change of clothes you can borrow."

She follows me up stairs and into my room. I walk inside my closet and pull out a fresh pair of clothes for each of us.

"I can change in the bathroom and you can change in here," she nods. I handed her a towel and then began to strip in my bathroom or tried to. I tried to take off my shirt and it caught in my hair, after five minutes of trying I called out for help.

"Umm Brooke are you ok in there," Grace asked.

"No help me!" She opened the bathroom door and laughed, "stop laughing I'm caught in my shirt it won't come off!"

"Ok," she stifled a giggle, "calm down and I'll help you, or, er, try to help you. Ok I'm going to try to pull your hair back down."

"Wait, no ouch!" I screamed as she accidentally pulled my hair.

"I'm sorry," she genuinely apologizes.

"I can't see anything!" I whined.

"Yah because your shirt isn't pulled over your head," I rolled my eyes, "can I just yank it off?"

"It's going to pull my hair though," I protested.

"I don't know how else to help," I sighed.

"Ok just help me!"

"Ok I'm just going to yank it off like a bandaid," and she in fact did. It hurt but came off. When it did I went tumbling to the floor landing on my back with Grace on top of me.
