《desire | lucas sinclair》chapter 4

i woke up this morning to a headache. fun. today is friday, jason's having a big party at his house and i have a volleyball game. so today's going to be- well, a lot. i'll be fine though.
i got ready for school. today i wore a hawkins high school t-shirt and a pair of shorts. i paired it with white nikes. i decided to wear my hair down again. i made eggs and bacon for breakfast. my mom had to go into work early today so she's not here right now. i looked at my phone and turned on novacane by frank ocean and put my airpods in. i also had a text message from lucas.
morning!
morning:)
how'd you sleep?
i slept okay, i wish i could've
slept longer though.
yeah me too lol
well i'm about to head to
school now, are you already
there?
no but i'm on my way
there
oh okay
well i'll see you at school
yup see ya
:)
:)
once i finished texting lucas, i went into my room to grab my backpack and my volleyball bag. i went to my car and placed my bags in the passenger seat. then i connected my phone to the radio and i listened to melanie martinez.
once i made it to school, i got both of my bags and brought them inside. i went to my locker and put my bags away. i then got my books out and headed to class. lucas was already there.
"hey" he says.
"hey." i reply, putting my books onto my desk.
lucas gently taps my leg to get my attention. i look over at him, he has a huge grin on his face.
"what?" i ask.
"guess what." he says, still grinning.
"what did you do?" i ask.
"well..." he says, getting something out of his backpack. he then pulls out a rolled up poster.
"what is that?" i ask.
"it's a poster with a picture of us on it. it says y/n's #1 cheerleader."
i can't help but smile. "lucas that is adorable!"
he smiles back at me, he then puts the poster back into his backpack. "i'm your number 1 cheerleader!"
"i thought you were joking when you said you would make a poster." i say.

"nope. and i had to bring something to be super supportive!" he exclaims.
i chuckle. "thank you lucas. you didn't have to."
"i know, but i wanted to." he says, smiling.
we just look at each other for a little bit. i gazed into his gorgeous brown eyes. is it weird that i have butterflies right now?
no. i cant have butterflies. lucas is just a friend.
but is he? i mean we do flirt a lot- no. what am i talking about?
my thoughts get interrupted by my teacher's voice. time for the lesson to start.
yay.
it's the end of the school day. y/n has a volleyball game today. i convinced jane and max to go with me and will to her game. mike wouldn't go and dustin was busy.
me and will decided to hang out after school before y/n's game. he's coming to my house.
i hear a knock on the door. it must be him.
"hey nerd! someone's at the door!" my sister erica cries.
"i know i'm getting it!" i call out, walking to the door.
i see will standing there.
"hey will." i say.
"hey lucas." he replies.
"c'mon." i say.
he follows me upstairs and we go into my room.
"so jane and max are going to y/n's game?" will asks.
"yup. surprisingly, i thought jane wouldn't said no because mike isn't going but she is." i answer.
"i think they're starting to warm up to y/n, they haven't been as rude when she sits at our table." will says.
"yeah i think so too. i don't know why mike doesn't want y/n in the party so badly. and dustin doesn't seem to mind either, he just isn't as talkative." i say.
"yeah... speaking of y/n." will starts.
i give him a strange look.
"what about her?" i ask.
"you like her!" he says.
"what? no- i-i do not!" i protest.
will laughs. "lucas. i know you like her, you can trust me with this, i won't tell anyone." he says.
i nod. "yeah. i guess i do like her..." i admit.
"ha! i knew it!" he shouts.
"how did you know?" i ask.
"lucas. it's so obvious, i mean the way you look at her?" he says.

i sit there, not saying anything for a while. "yeah. but i mean she's so gorgeous! and i love the way her y/e/c shine when the sun hits them. she's just amazing. not to mention she is just so nice to everyone. she's still nice to mike, even though he treats her like shit. and she's amazing at volleyball. you'll get to see her play today. she's good, really good." i say.
will smiles at me. "you two would be such a cute couple."
"i don't think she likes me." i admit.
"i think she does." he says.
"i don't know..." i start.
"she does lucas. you don't have to believe me, but i can definitely tell. you two flirt all of the time, not to mention she lets you hug her even when you're gross and sweaty." he explains.
i smile. "do you really think so?"
"yes." he says.
my smile grows larger. then i check the time.
"we should probably get going now." i say.
"oh yeah let's go." will says.
i grab my sign and put it into the backseat. we both get into my car and we drive to the school. once we get there, we walk into the gym and sit on the bleachers.
after a few minutes, we see jane and max. we wave so they can come over to us, which they do.
"is she good?" jane asks.
"good? she's incredible." i say.
max smirks. "you like her don't you."
"n-no! what are you talking about?" i say.
they all laugh.
the game then starts, i see y/n look over in my direction so i hold up the sign so she knows we're there.
we make eye contact and she smiles at me.
her smile is so pretty.
it's near the end of the game, we're in the lead, by a lot. the score is 19-7. y/n has been playing amazingly all game. she's been all over the court, hitting every ball that came her way. it was amazing.
they get the ending point. hawkins wins. everyone cheers and i see y/n doing a handshake with ashley. they do that before and after every game. i walk down the bleachers and walk over to y/n.
"hey!" she says.
i pull her into a hug. "you were amazing." i say.
she slightly blushes. "thank you."
she pulls away from the hug and will gives her a hug as well.
"that was awesome y/n. really. i don't know how you did that." will says.
y/n giggles. "thank you will."
max and jane then walk over to y/n.
"that was- really impressive." max says.
jane nods in agreement. "now i understand why people call you one of the best on your team."
y/n laughs. "i wouldn't say i'm the best."
truth is, y/n is one of the best. she made varsity when she was a freshman, we're all sophomores now, she's still on varsity and she starts every game.
"also jason's party... are you guys going?" y/n asks.
"uh sure." they both say.
"okay sounds great. it starts soon so once you go home and get changed you can just go to jason's house." y/n says.
max and jane look at her.
"um where does jason live?" max asks.
y/n tells them the address.
"oh okay thanks." max says.
once i get home. i changed into a black crop top with dark blue baggy jeans. i wore nikes with it as well. i then went into my bathroom and brushed my hair, leaving it down.
i then get a text message from lucas.
hey, i'm coming to pick
you up. i'll be there in like 5 mins
okay :)
while i wait for lucas i put my dirty clothes into the washer. i then hear honking so i know he's here. he's blasting music, i could immediately tell what it was. he was playing yonkers by tyler the creator.
i get into the car next to him, he turns down the music. he then looks at me.
"you look- wow." he says, his eyes gazed at me.
i smile. lucas is wearing baggy jeans, and a hawkins basketball crew neck. he's wearing nikes with his outfit as well.
"you look nice too." i say. he smiles at me.
he then pulls out of my driveway and we head to jason's house.

Tur Briste
A Druid cultivation novel. Borrows concepts from Wuxia and Xianxia but using Druid myth and lore. More on this at the bottom. Crow is son of Maddox, a Druid with an ancient bloodline and a people with a story spanning toward the beginning of time. Cursed, unfated, and a heap of bad luck have brought him only pain and suffering, but nothing will stop him. Nothing can stop him. A son of Maddox doesn’t bow his head. A son of Maddox understands that only a man with roots, with something to lose, will fight until the last drop of blood leaves his body. The Draoidh were once a proud people. They were both respected and hated for their form of righteousness. Power wasn’t something they gained through the might of their arms, but through intelligence. Their fall was all the more disheartening for the weaker cultivators. The tens of thousands of years that followed… chaos reigned. They forced Draoidh until most fled to the lower realms, nearly wiped out and exhausted. They went into hiding and became known as the Druids of the Oak. The Druid Order wasn’t the powerhouse it had been, and only nine of the major clans survived the calamity. Their bloodline weakened, as well as their prestige. Even the remaining clans fought amongst each other. Already on the decline and near extinguished, the Maddox clan can only struggle for survival, but their foundation wasn’t a joke. Weakened, but not weak. The other clans will understand this difference soon enough. Tur Briste, the Shattered Tower, awaits Crow’s ascension. Reaching the upper realms is only the first step in reestablishing the Draoidh. The Druids of the Oak remembered every betrayal and grievance, and they’ll return to power and reclaim what once belonged to them. The upper realms may have forgotten, but the Druid Order has not. Please Note:1) This is harem story. There are only a few chapters with sex, and it’s not a focus of the story. I’ll only add graphic sex if I feel the story needs it, so not gratuitously. Either way, Crow has several women. This is in line with Druid/Celtic history, and harems/reverse harems were an accepted part of their culture. Further, they had open marriages, meaning the man or woman could end their marriage at any time. While it was still a patriarchy, women had almost equal power. They were a very progressive culture. 2) There is a period of a 30-50 chapters where Crow loses the ability to cultivate like a Druid so he adopts an eastern body cultivation method for a while. This is temporary, but some people feel it’s misleading, so I am pointing it out ahead of time. I promise, the Druid stuff comes back, and 90% of the lore/myths/creatures/gods are all related to Druid/Celt/Irish/Scottish history. 3) I use many original names, most of which are in Gaelic or Irish. In the story, I refer to this language as Ancient. I enjoy all kinds of folklore and myths, so I encourage you to google those original names as they arrive. I give some background on them at the end of the chapter in my author’s note. 4) I use Ogham runes a lot, these are like the Druid alphabet, and they based each rune on a sacred tree so they also have symbolism associated with them. Again, feel free to google that too. It’s pretty neat stuff. Quick Translations:Draoidh = DruidTur Briste = Shattered Tower or Broken Tower Release Schedule:As of Oct 1, 2021- 3 chapters released every Sunday (May have up to two bonus chapters)- Side character chapters… this might be bonus chapters I release through the week. So they won’t count toward the 3 chapters on Sunday.- Please understand I work full time, have two kids, and can’t spare as much time as I’d like toward my writing. Maybe in the future I can switch to doing this full time, but for now 3 chapters is a comfortable pace for me. Lastly… I very much appreciate all my readers and thank you for allowing me to entertain you!
