《Mated to a Bad Boy》Chapter 4: Conflicted

The next morning I wake up and walk into my private bathroom and look at my reflection in the mirror. Bright red eyes greet me, it's obvious I was crying all night. I splash some cool water on my face in hopes of getting rid of the some of the redness.

Walking downstairs I head to the the living room, flipping on the TV when Bentley walks into the room.

"Good morning."

"Morning." I mumble my response. "Um, may I ask you a question?"

Bentley sits next to me on the couch, giving me his full attention. With a deep breath I begin to speak.

"When I found out I was Hunter's mate you seemed so relieved, more so than I would have expected."

"That's because I already found my mate." He smiles.

"But then why where our parents trying to set us up? Unless..... They don't know about her."

"She is a rogue. Her name is Chloe."

"Was your bond instant? Was it instantly love or did it take a while to form?" I begin to twiddle my thumbs, as I nervously anticipate his answer.

Bentley smiles a warm, knowing smile in response to my question. "Actually at first we got into a fight. We had met on the border of the territory and she crossed into our territory so I attacked. I ended up injuring her and she couldn't move. She was so weak and thin. I had killed many rouges who crossed into the territory before but for some reason I didn't have the heart to go through with it this time. In her eyes I saw so much fear. I ended up caring for her in secret, fixing her wounds and bringing her food. I knew if my father found out he would most likely kill her. At first she still remained hostile towards me but over time we fell in love."

"Wow, you two are lucky but you should really tell your father about her. It's better he knows it from you then finding out on his own later."

"I know but it's not that easy. There's a reason my father was called the Blood Alpha." He sighs.

"The Blood Alpha? You mean the one that killed mercilessly? The Alpha with the highest body count? He is that Alpha?" My jaw drops and a shiver runs down my spine. No wonder why Bentley doesn't want to tell him. The Blood Alpha never hesitated to kill a rogue. Thinking about it, it explains a lot about Hunter. He must have inherited his cold heart from his father.

As I sit there watching TV my attention is drawn to the sound of someone walking down the hall, coming from Hunter's room. When I turn my head I see the red-headed tramp. Her hair is tousled and pulled back in a messy bun and her clothes were obviously thrown on in a hurry. I feel an immense pain in my chest as my wolf glares angrily at her, snarling like a blood thirsty beast ready for the kill. Then she looked at me with a conceited smirk as if to rub it in my face, making my blood boil. I quickly rise to my feet and walk out of the house before the living room becomes a bloodbath.

Breathing in the crisp, cool, morning air helps soothe my nerves and slow my racing heart. I need to run. I need to let my wolf free. Walking into some bushes I take my clothes off then I shift, feeling the sun on my fur. Then I let my wolf take the reins.

Running through the forest I feel like myself again. As if I left all my worries and troubles behind when I shifted. Watching as the earth and trees pass me in a blur as we weave our way through the trees. As we run I have to take control back from my wolf. She was heading for the border as if she was trying to escape. My wolf growls at me for stopping her. I stare blankly at the world past the border. Should I stay and live in misery or leave. Leave Hunter and his cold heart behind and find my own life out there. I can't resist as my wolf urges me forward. I nervously pad over to the border. Then I hear growling, this time not from my wolf, but behind me and I freeze. I slowly turn to look and see a large dark brown wolf with amber eyes looming over me. His large frame blocks out the light streaming in through the trees, plunging me and darkness. I shrink and tuck my ears back, he is so much larger than me there's no way I can fight him off. I try to slip away but he seizes me in his jaws making my heart beat wildly in my chest. Is this the end for me? I close my eyes tightly and let out a whine. But there is no pain.

I nervously open my eyes. I'm not dead. He is carrying me back by the scruff as if carrying a pup who has wandered too far from the den. Who the hell is he? Who does he think he is? I try to squirm from his jaws but to no avail. I have no choice but to surrender to him but I let out one last defiant growl.

As the house comes back into view I notice Hunter waiting for me. The big brown wolf drops me and I immediately turn around and snap at him. He barely manages to pull his snout away in time.

"Trying to run away already are we?" Hunter remarks snidely.

Slinking back into the bushes I shift and pull on my clothes. "I wasn't, my wolf was." I growl. "If I didn't go for a run your red-headed tramp would have a red throat to match."

"Really, you don't seem strong enough to me?" He jeers.

"Try me!" I growl, pushing my way past him and into the house. I hear him tell the wolf that dragged me back to continue his patrol before following behind me. I notice that the whore has left. Then I feel Hunter grab my wrist and slam me against the wall.

"Seems someone is jealous and needs to be taught a lesson." Hunter brings his face closer to mine as both his hands rest on the wall on either side of me, blocking my escape.

"Bite me." I let out a low snarl as I grit my teeth.

Then a devilish grin spreads across Hunter's face. "With pleasure." His voice coming out as a low rumble in my ear and I shiver as his face draws closer to mine, his dark blue eyes invading my soul as my heart pounds wildly like a drum. I can only pray that he can't hear it.

As if on reflex I slap him across the face, enjoying the stinging feeling as it spreads across my hand at the contact. But Hunter is undeterred. He is like a tiger, sizing up his prey and unfortunately the prey is me. I let my hand fly again but before it can reach his face he grabs my wrist. Then Hunter's lips forcefully seize mine. My eyes shoot open in shock and I want to push him away but the warmth of his lips and the electric feeling seems to draw me in, his warmth spreading through me, making my mind go blank. Then his tongue enters my mouth, tangling with mine. I can feel my head spinning and my knees feel like they can give out any second. Even my wolf is left in a daze.

Summoning what little strength and will power I have left, I pushed him away from me. Even after our lips part I still feel his warmth.

"W-what the hell?" I mutter after the shock wears off. "How dare you?!"

"You didn't seem to mind." He purrs and I feel my cheeks get warm.

"You took me by surprise. I didn't have time to react. That is all!" I growl and he grins wickedly at me.

I walk back to my room. Only once I'm behind the closed door does my heart stop racing. He kissed me? My wolf is just as confused as I am. He said it himself, I'm only his mate in name. He kissed me just to spite me. I hate him, why the hell did he have to be my mate. Tears begin to stream down my face yet again.
