《In Review》Can The Mind Really Do That?

There was a sporting goods business in Ohio that was called "Menninger's".
I met the owner of this business at a high end private restaurant and club in the city where I lived.
He was in town visiting relatives.
My partner Tom and I played dinner and dance music in the club area.
Mr. Menninger approached us one evening during our break and requested a performance for their dinner party the next Saturday evening in the dining room.
We agreed to play a few tunes at their table for his famous relative, Dr. Karl Menninger.
Dr. Menninger was a renowned psychiatrist who founded the Menninger Foundation and authored many books.
"The Human Mind" is one example of this brilliant man's work.
Dr. Menninger's patients included very famous people.
Judy Garland and Lana Turner were known to have been there.
But, many came anonymously.
The night of their party, Tom, the guitarist and vocalist, sat at the next table with his music stand performing a request he needed to read sheet music for.
Being a solo tune for Tom, my only involvement on this song was being his page turner.
I found myself unconsciously staring at this iconic doctor while Tom sang and played his guitar.
The whole time we were at their table, the doctor never looked from his plate of food and never spoke.
So star struck was I, that I thought to myself, "Wow! Lucky me. What a great way to make a living and being allowed to have these experiences.".
The doctor had no reaction to the song or Tom.
At the exact same moment that Tom finished the song, Dr. Karl looked up, turned directly to me, and said to me.... "I serve God for a living.".
He then returned to his meal and did not speak again for the duration of our performance.

What???
He couldn't have!
But he sure as hell read my mind!
He actually read my mind!
I couldn't have been more shocked if a UFO had landed in the parking lot.
This mysterious experience still haunts me to this day.
This is a true story.
He read my mind, used my words!
Writing this now, I relive that moment still shaking my head.
This story may sound unbelievable, but this is exactly how it happened.
If anyone else could read my mind, they would know this story is true.
