《Her House, My Rules》Chapter 59

Three candles were glowing like the moon on the old creepy grave. A picture of our dear mother, Ana Hudson, in the middle. Someone was just here. Someone was admiring the ghost of our grandmother, Evana and our mother. Jack, on the other hand, was lost and confused. I didn't know what he was looking for but the look on his face gave everything away. He wasn't himself anymore. He didn't find the answers he was looking for.
The situation was getting worse.
"Someone was here." Jack broke the silence. "Christian Hills is responsible. He's the one who was here." He went straight to the point. "He knew we were coming."
"What does he want?" I asked, confused.
"You."
"Me?" I was shocked. "What does he want from me?" I knew he was my worst enemy but I didn't know that he hated me that much. "My blood? Again?"
"Yes." Jack agreed. "Without your blood, he can't survive. Our grandmother knew the consequences, but Christian Hills was her nephew. She didn't want to leave him on the side of the road by himself. She decided to keep him around. That was her mistake." He sat on the grave as he continued his story. "Christian Hills was brainwashed by our grand grandfather, Hazard. He still wants to destroy us. He examined your blood and now he wants you dead. Both of us."
Jack groaned.
"Why did he take my blood if he wants me dead?" I asked, desperately. "I don't understand."
"He believes there's a cure." He added. "He wants to destroy our existence, but it doesn't matter anymore. I'll be gone in a few days."
"Stop saying that, Jack," I shouted. "You're not going to die. We're going to fight this together. I'm not giving up on you and that's a promise." My words were too weak to change his negative mindset. He didn't want to listen to me. I didn't know how to convince him otherwise.
"The prophecy is real." He complained. "I'm going to die."
"Fuck the prophecy, man!"I yelled, impatiently. "For the last time, you're not going to die."
"What am I going to do now?" Jack said, sadly. "Christian won."
"We're still alive, aren't we?" I made a good point. "We're stronger than him. We can destroy him."
"You don't understand, Hawk." He placed his hands on top of his head. "Christian is not going to stop until you're dead."
"We'refor God's sake," I yelled between my teeth. "We have the power to destroy the human world."
"have the power." He erased his existence in my previous sentence. "I'm going to die when you turn twenty-one."
"Is there a solution?"
"Yes, but..." He hesitated. "But you'll have to do something terrible."
"What?" I asked, rapidly. "Anything!"
"The prophecy says ''
"Jack!" I let out a deep sigh. "English! Please!"

"Your time will come. You'll automatically understand Finnish when you turn twenty-one in a few days." He announced, proudly.
"Jack, Translate, please," I replied, running out patience. "Come on."
"The prophecy says ''
"My blood?" I exclaimed. "Christian Hills has my blood." I panicked.
"He can't do anything with your blood." Jack stood up as he tapped my shoulder several times. "Only Hazel and I can destroy your existence, Hawk."
"How?"
"Just a sample of your blood under fire can melt your soul and drive your heart to darkness." Jack squeezed his teeth against each other as he tried his best not to let his brotherly love to get in the way. He repeated the prophecy but this time, he gave the full speech. ""
"Does Hazel know?"
"Of course not," Jack responded, confidently. "The letter was written in Finnish."
"Jack, there's google translate." I shook my head, side to side. "In case, you forgot."
"Hawk, trust me." He assured. "She doesn't know and she can't know about this. It's for your own good." Jack glanced at his silver watch. "It's late. We should head back home." He suggested.
"Yeah, we should." I agreed.
A deep creepy voice interrupted our depart, unexpectedly. Jack was as shocked as I was. The devil's son was standing behind us, our flashlights discovered his old ugly face in the dark, his white beard was as damaged as his bald head.
Our worst nightmare.
.
"Hawk Wale and Jack Walter." The old creepy man faked a happy laugh. "What a lovely party! Gentlemen!" His accent described the melancholy of his origin, .
"What do you want?" I muttered, disgustingly. "What do you want from us?"
"Hawk Wale." My name tasted like fresh poison in his mouth. "Honestly, I just want your head. I want you to die in pain, choking on your blood and dying next to your dear brother, Jack Walter." His words were more like dangerous threats. His hate towards us overwhelmed his soul. "That's what I want."
"Go away!" Jack yelled, angrily. "We also want your head."
"Jack!" Christian smacked his lips. "I'm not even going to waste my breath with you. Soon or later, you're going to die." He made a few steps towards us as we tried to back away. "Nobody's going to remember you. Except your little man, right here." He pointed at me. "The truth is, you were always the lonely kid, the little murderer that killed his father. Your mother, Ana Hudson never loved you. I remember when she was pregnant, she wanted to do an abortion. She was so lonely and unhappy. She tried to kill herself several times. You were a mistake Dear Jack Walter."
His words destroyed Jack, completely.
"Don't listen to him, Jack." I tried to calm him down. "He's trying to get inside your head." It was already too late. Jack's eyes were already full of empty tears. "He's lying."

"Am I, Hawk?" Christian yelled, joyfully. "Am I?" He destroyed my personal space. "You and I both know that your mother also never loved you. She left you when you were only six years old. Your whole life was a lie. For fifteen years, you thought that your mother died in a car accident. Deep down. you wanted her love. You were begging to be loved by her. Weren't you?. Your father was the only one who loved you, Hawk Wale." He burst out laughing. "Too bad, he's not here to celebrate his memories with you. He was a great man, he did love your mother but to be real with you, I'm glad he's dead." He paused as he tried to collect his mind. "He was a good friend, once upon a time."
I was trying so hard not to punch this old man straight in the face. Something was holding me back. I just didn't want to waste my energy anymore. My father was a great man and a wonderful father. He wasn't perfect but he was always there for me. He didn't deserve what they did to him but at the same time, I have to learn that I'll be a man soon and I can't let anything get in the way of my emotions. My weakness was my father but I wanted to be strong for Jack and Hazel. They needed my protection and I was not going to let this Moron ruin my life.
"Let's go, Jack," I ordered. "Let's go home." I grabbed him by the arm as we headed to the car. Christian was laughing from a good distance. His words did hurt me, but I didn't want to show him that he won the war. I was still the gentleman that my father raised a few years ago.
Hawk Wale. The little boy that used to chase white birds in the forest with my dear father. The immature boy that used to get bullied in school by not having a mother. The boy that craved her love for so many years.
Yes. That Hawk Wale.
I'm still human. Even though, I don't feel like one.
But, I'm still human.
"What are we going to do now?" Jack parked in front of the mansion. "Hawk? Are you listening to me?" He chased my negative thoughts away. "Christian Hills heard everything at the cemetery."
"What can we do, Jack?" I wrapped my left hand on my forehead. "What can we do?"
"Hawk?" He sighed. "We have to protect this monster from Hazel. He's going to use her against you." He made a good point. "You can't tell her about the prophecy. This is a secret."
"Is it?" I questioned his previous words. "Is it, Jack? Christian Hills knows everything. He's probably going to tell Hazel and manipulate her. She's going to kill me." I swallowed my saliva nervously and tried not to think about the negative facts. "I don't even want to think about it."
"Do you really think she's capable of killing you?" Jack asked, desperately. "Aren't you worried?"
"To be honest, I don't know who to trust anymore ," I spoke the truth. "Anyone can deceive you." I glanced at my phone screen. Three missed calls from Hazel. I didn't even notice.
.
"Why that face?" Jack noticed. "What happened? Is everything okay?"
"Hazel called." I placed my phone in my pocket. "I'm tired and sleepy." Jack turned off the engine. "Let's go inside."
"I'm also tired."
We both entered the mansion.
"Something's wrong," I said, breaking the silence. "Why are the lights on?"
"Hazel probably forgot to turn them off." Jack shared his opinion. "It's nothing."
"No!" I disagreed. "Follow me." We ran upstairs and headed straight to the master bedroom. Hazel was not inside the room nor the bathroom. The closet was empty. The bed was well made. She was not inside the mansion. We searched everywhere, in every corner of the world.
From my point of view, she made her decision. She was not coming back.
"She left, Jack..." I sat on the edge of the bed, holding her letter in my hands. My deep voice was unsteady. "She's not coming back." I squeezed my teeth altogether as I tried my best not to let my tears get the best of me.
"She left you a letter?" Jack pointed out the obvious.
"Yes." I stood up and paced up and down in exasperation. "After everything, she just left me a letter. A goddamn letter!" I punched the wall with severe force. A deep hole appeared as fresh blood flew down my fist. "She just broke me in million pieces, Bro." Warm tears melted upon my face as I tried my best to control myself as a man. "I love this girl! I fucking love her!"
"I'm sorry, man." Jack tried to calm me down. "I can see that you're losing your mind. Please, try to collect your emotions. I know it hurts but I want you to be strong, brother. Try to calm down."
How can I? How can I, Jack?
I just lost the love of my life and you want me to calm down?
"Why would she leave me without seeing me?" My voice was wet with tears. It was like someone just stabbed me multiple times on the inside. I was broken, desperate for answers and shocked. We were just talking about everything and she just left. "She's in great danger. She needs to come back home. NOW!"
"Stop yelling, Hawk." It was hard to swallow my pain. "Stop stressing yourself out. She'll come back. Maybe she needs her space. Just read the letter..." He suggested. "I'll be downstairs."
"No, stay!" I said, sadly. "I need you, brother."
I sat on the bed as I read the letter, repeatedly.
