"." Her broken voice burned with pain and emptiness. "" The news shocked me with an electric wire. "Hazel is unconscious right now and I'm waiting on Dr.Pen to tell me more about her condition." The tone in her words was the meaning of sadness. I was hurt but lucky that Hazel was still alive.

Waffle. My dear Waffle. Get better, please. Get better.

A wise man used to say. I've realized that the person was right. A few weeks ago, I didn't care about Hazel. I didn't care if she was dead or alive but everything changed. Hazel was the best thing in my life and I didn't want anything bad to happen to her. I blamed myself for her condition. It was all my fault. I was selfish. I should've known that Jessica only came to the house to kill her. I should've known.

Why do bad things always happen to good people?

Maybe bad people too. Jessica.

The hospital was full of nurses, doctors. They were running back and forth. Some of them were answering emergency calls, making appointments and helping some patients through the phone. I never met my mother but my father used to say that she was a nurse. She took care of so many people. I never had that opportunity to visit a hospital before. My father made sure of that. I used to be sick in bed, He used to pay doctors to visit me instead. My father was rich, of course, but he forbade me to go to the hospital. My secret was the only thing that he cared about the most. He wanted to protect me from so many bad things.

I still don't know what they are.

"Hawk?" Mrs.Maria interrupted my thoughts. "You can go home. Rest and you can come back tomorrow at first sight." She sighed. "You look tired."

"I'm not tired." I lied. "I want to stay here, Mrs. Maria. I want to hear what the doctor has to say." My tone was far from happiness.

"Dean will stay here, Hawk." She insisted. "You're out of energy and your friend looks very tired." He mentioned Jack beside me. "I'm not sure I met you before. What's your name?"

"His name is Jack." I didn't give Jack a chance to say anything. "Jack Walter. He used to go to the same school as me. My childhood friend."

"Nice to meet you, Jack." She glanced at him. "Jack, your parents are probably worried about you. I don't want you to be in trouble. You can go home and rest. I really appreciate your company. Thank you so much for your time." She thanked him for staying by my side.

"You're welcome, Ma'am," Jack responded in a respectful tone. "Don't mention it. I really hope your daughter gets better."

Jack lost his sister when he was seventeen. His little sister had cancer. He really understood the pain. It wasn't easy for him to get over it but he decided that she's in a better place now. It was time for him to move on with his life. It was the best decision according to him but I knew deep down that he still thinks about her day and night. He was still hurt by her absence.

Losing someone is the worst fear in the entire world. The pain never goes away. Their memories are still hunting us. They say time heals the pain but I still don't agree. Time makes things better but the pain is always going to be there in your heart. It teaches you lessons. It makes you a better person. It moves you forward like a clock.

.

"Hawk?" Jack pulled me to the side. "I'm leaving. Are you going to stay here?" He asked me as he squeezed his hand on my right shoulder to comfort me. "She will get better, Bro." He sighed. "I promise."

"I'm scared, Jack," I admitted. "I want to hug her and kiss her so badly. I just want to see her, man." My broken tone was whispering fears in my voice. "What if she doesn't wake up?"

"She will." He assured me. "Look at me, she will." He punched my shoulder as he carried my attention to the edge. "Your eyes, your eyes, Hawk" His eyes grew older as he tried to warn me. "They are glowing again." He whispered in my right ear.

"Are you playing with me?" I panicked. "Right now is not a good time, Jack."

"You need to leave right now." He warned. "I'm being serious, Hawk." His tone was firm and serious. I didn't want to believe at first but he wasn't playing with me. Something was really happening and I didn't know what else to do. I couldn't just leave without saying goodbye to Mrs. Maria and her husband. I just couldn't but at the same time, I was scared. I didn't know what else to do.

.

"Is everything okay?" A nurse roared behind me. "Is your friend okay?" Her voice was howling for answers.

!

"Yes," Jack confronted her. "He's fine."

"Hi, I'm Ana Hudson." She introduced herself to Jack. "I'm a nurse and I can help your friend."

"We are fine. No thank you." Jack declined her offer. "We were just leaving. Right. Hawk?"

"Get better." The nurse caressed my arm. I turned around and faced her.

"Mom?" I grabbed her arm as I stared at her for a good second. "Mom?" I repeated over and over again.

Something came into me all of a sudden. When she touched me, I felt like my blood was heating up inside. A good and a bad feeling enveloped me. I wanted to stop saying that word but my throat disagreed. There was something inside me that was pushing me towards her. There was something inside her that was pulling me closer. It felt real. I felt like I had a connection with her. I felt like our blood was connected.

It was weird for me to call someone else, but I just didn't know how to describe my emotions at that moment. Her presence glued my entire heart with deep feelings and a scary connection. I wanted to stop, trust me, but that feeling was way stronger. I just couldn't fight it anymore. I felt like she was my real mother.

I never met my mother. My father never showed me a picture of her. I didn't even go to her funeral.

Can you blame me? Can you blame for calling someone else, ? Can you?

"I'm sorry but do we know each other?" Ana started. "I'm Ana Hudson. What's your name?" Her face turned red. She was hiding something. She recognized me. Her face flashed her obvious clues.

"His name is leaving." Jack interrupted us as he pulled me away from her. "I'm sorry for his behavior. I really am sorry, Ma'am. You can go on with your day."

"Hawk," I replied. "Hawk Wale." As soon as I revealed my name. Her body dropped on the floor with a sudden crash. Everyone laid their eyes on the nurse.

She passed out.

Jack grabbed me and forced me to stay away from the situation. I wanted to help, I wanted to stay but Jack failed me. Maybe she was my mother. Maybe she wasn't but It felt real. I was connected to this lady, somehow. I was connected to her. I felt our connection, It was more than love. My blood was screaming for help. My veins were raping my bones for her presence.

Ana Hudson was her name. I will find you. I swear, I'll find you again.

"Are you out of your mind?" Jack drove away as I tried so hard to control my temper. I was really mad at him. He was wrong for leaving this lady on the floor like a lost animal. "Everyone was watching you."

"Jack." I sighed. "I felt it. I really did." He rolled his eyes, he didn't believe me. "The connection was real. Maybe it was my mother." I tried to explain it but he wasn't on my side.

"Your mother is dead. Hawk. Dead!" Jack reminded me of the tragedy. "Maybe that was your side effects. You were having your episodes. Hawk, your condition can make you see and feel things that aren't true. It can be a good thing sometimes but you have to understand that you're not like everyone else. Your blood creates danger." He yelled, impatiently. "Do you understand?"

"Jack," I tried to collect my thoughts together. "You're wrong. It wasn't my side effects. It was more than that. I know you don't trust me but it's the truth."

"Let's just say she is your mother." He emphasized. "Are you going to be close to her like ? You have a secret and you can't even control yourself sometimes. Do you know what's going to happen to you in the next few days? No." He answered his own question. "Your father protected you, he told you that your mother was dead. Deal with it and stop trying to collect incomplete thoughts in your head."

"If she is my mother, there must be a reason that my father hid her identity for so many years," I exclaimed. "Maybe there was something he didn't want me to know."

"Hawk? You need to stop thinking about all these things." Jack burned my thoughts with his words. "If you can't control phase one, how are you going to control the upcoming phases?" He sighed. "I'm trying to protect you from the world. I'm your best friend and I know what's best for you."

"And she's probably my mother." I implied, firmly.

"Your mother is dead, Hawk," Jack yelled in my ears. "She is dead." He repeated.

"What if she was still alive the whole time?" I tried to create a positive situation. "I need answers, Jack. I need to know why she never loved me, why she never took care of me?" My pain was getting stronger and stronger. I loved my mother but I hated her at the same time. She was the reason why I felt so empty for years.

"You're hurt right now." He shook his head side to side. "You need to calm yourself down."

"How can I? Jack." I exclaimed with a broken tone. "How can I calm myself when Hazel is at the hospital and I just met my mother?"

"Hazel is going to be just fine." He parked right in front of Hazel's house. "You need to rest. We'll go to the hospital first thing in the morning. I promise." He gave me a friendly punch. "When Hazel wakes up, she'll be happy to see your face again."

"Of course, she will." I smiled. "She is the best thing in my life, Bro." I sighed, nervously. "I don't want to lose her. I want her to be my wife one day. I want to have a beautiful family, kids and--."

"Your emotions are talking right now, brother." He interrupted, amusingly. "Kids? You can barely take care of yourself. "May your wishes come true." Jack chuckled as I headed out of the car.

"Drive safe," I yelled as Jack reversed his car. "Don't die on the road."

.

****

"Don't move." I dropped my keys with a sudden rush. A deep male voice threatened me, pointing a gun behind my back. "You're coming with me, Hawk Wale." He stabbed me in the neck with a pointy sting as I lost my energy and dropped on the floor.

My enemies were getting closer.
