I COULD DIE TODAY
In all of my thousand years of standing by Nik's side, I've never once wavered to go with him and kick some ass. But right now, I really don't want to leave Davina while she is unconsious. Did that make me a horrible twin? My eyes flickered to Kol, who was watching my twin while rocking on a rocking chair. I cast a glance to him, seeing him pacing around in the yard, clearly trying his very best not to go into full panic mode.
"Elijah, where are you? Mikael is loose with the stake, and Cami is a hostage, and I am weaponless and in need of reinforcement. Urgently." My Hybrid hearing catches his voicemail to our eldest brother. A frown formed between my brows when he hangs up and returns to the cabin, where Kol and I are still sitting.
"What exactly am I, a pretty statue?" I asked, offended that he didn't think I would help him fight Mikael. Okay, yes, I'm hesistant to leave the love of my life, but I'm not going to just let my twin go on his own to fight someone that can kill him, or even to fight someone that can't kill him. When is he going to realise that I'm always going to choose him first? A faint grin tugs at his lips before he looked at our younger brother.
Nik shot him an impatient look. "Wake her up. Tell her to get Mikael back here, now."
"Well, let me, let me think about that." He taps chin thoughtfully. "No!" My blonde brother gives him a furious look, but I knew Kol wasn't worried, because Nik couldn't enter the cabin to start with.
"Niklaus!" I called out, catching his attention and his head turned to me. "Kol can't wake her up. And based on the fact that the bracelet is no longer giving any power of, someone must have broken the link." I shot Kol a pointed glare and he gave me a sheepish shrug. "We are going to have to look for Mikael the old fashioned way." And my heart clenched painfully when Nik looked surprised at my words.
"In fact, you should probably get going, Nik. Mikael, he's probably jonesing for a restorative snack about now. It'd be a shame to find, uh, Cami, is it? Nothing more than a bloodless husk." Kol told my twin and I shot him a glare - he's practically asking Nik to kill him.
"We're not done here, you and I." My Hybrid brother spat angrily and Kol just smirks at him before Klaus vamp-speeds away to find Cami. I stood up, looking at my favourite brother, save for my twin.
"Don't worry much what he says. He missed you as well and he is glad that you are back, but right now he's worried about his shrink. And you know full well how he gets where is worry levels rise." I told our brother and it was strange to talk to a different face than the one I was used to for a thousand years.
"Nik has a shrink? Finally." He laughed and a chuckle left my throat before I sped after my twin brother, using my nose to pick up on his scent. It was easy to find him as I am a little bit smaller than him because of my smaller frame, while he is a little bit stronger than me because of his more muscled form.
Nik has just made it to a piece of forest that reeks of blood and Cami's scent and I stopped by his side. I spot a smear of blood on a nearby tree and follows it, with Nik behind me and it which leads us to the 'Hillbilly Halloween' bonfire. We find all of the party-goers standing completely still and silent in their masks.

"Okay, on a scale of one to Finn on being freaky, this is going way beyond our brother." I told my brother, looking at the party-goers with wariness in my eyes. I see Nik nodding out of the corner of my eyes.
"Mikael was here. Probably compelled the lot of them." He notes and this time it's my turn to nod. Suddenly a party-goer begins to talk to us.
"Did you honestly think to hold me with a blade forged from pain?" A party goer asks us. Well, that confirms that Mikael compelled them.
"Unlike the weak, unlike you two, I gain strength from pain!" Another shouts and my jaw clenched with anger. Mikael needed to be put down, he was like a piece of gum on a shoe that just kept on sticking around and you can't get all of the gum quite removed from your shoe.
"Soon, you will know the taste of white-oak as it pierces your heart." The first party-goer says again and I scoffed. I already had the white-oak half way in my heart and nearly died as a result of that, I know what it feels like. But this time, he won't get away again. Nik and I will defeat him once again like we did back in Mystic Falls - even if we had a little help from Stefan Salvatore, and this time, he is going to stay dead.
"It's very clever, Mikael! Compelling the locals to say to my face what you dare not? Enjoy the theatrics! They only delay the inevitable." My brother retorts and he sounds more amused than anything. The second party-goer attacks my brother while the first one comes for me but we easily disarm and kill them.
"Just like old times, huh, Nik?" I asked with a lopsided grin, tensing my body in preperation for a fight, refering to how we slaughtered villages and took down kingdoms - all in a day's work.
"Just like old times, Lexie." He confirmed, grinning back and the other compelled guests quickly ran to us, and we quickly kill them, as well. This is wasting time, humans doesn't stand a chance against the two Original Hybrids.
I kicked one in the chest and snapped another's neck. I ripped out a throat and then pulled out a heart before snapping another neck. One jumped on my back and I ripped his head of and shrugged the body of me, just in time grab one who was running towards me by its neck, holding it in a chokehold for a few seconds before throwing the human over my head, spinning around and stepping down harshly on his throat, breaking the neck. A stick hit me over the head and I spun back around quickly and lifted my arm to his neck, decapitating the girl. My chest heaved up and down and fatigue ran through my body - tired from the earlier fight with Mikael. The next human I dried of blood, feeling much better.
We spent hours fighting of the humans, feeding on the bodies of the recently dead partiers to replenish ourstrength. There is one partier left alive, who stumbles as he tries to attack Nik, but I simply speed to him and snap his neck. Suddenly, Nik's phone rings, dusturbing the silence around us.
"Answer it, it could be important." I told him, panting and still trying to catch my brother, looking over his shoulder and seeing that it was Hayley calling him. Nik rolls his eyes and answers it, albeit reluctantly.
"Uh, I'm a tad busy. What is it, Hayley?" Nik asked, scanning the ground for anymore survivors and I listened with my Hybrid ears for any heartbeats, a smirk covered my face when I didn't find any and shook at my head at Nik.

"Something has happened to Elijah. He was supposed to be our decoy last night, and now he's vanished. There's blood everywhere - werewolf and vampire. There's a trail. I need you or Lex to help us track it." The only other female Hybrid in existence whispered and I frowned. Who the hell would kidnap and Original?
"Well, as much as I might like to help you find my brother, I have more pressing matters at the moment." Nik responds.
"Usually I would kick his ass for saying something like that, but Nik is right. And Hayley, you don't need either of us to track the scents. You're a Hybrid now and just as capable as Nik or me of finding whoever took Elijah." I spoke up seriously and truthfully. "And ripping them to shreds for taking him in the first place." I added after a brief pause.
"What's more important than your own brother?" Hayley asked incredulously, clearly not liking what we just told her.
"My life? Lexie's life? Davina had Mikael on a magical leash, and it broke. Now Mikael has Tunde's blade, the white oak stake, and Cami." I heard Hayley gasp in horror on the other end of the line. "I'm gonna get her back. "And then, I'm gonna end this. Either Mikael or I will be ash by day's end."
"Just be careful, Klaus. Please." Hayley begged and it hit me again that the mother of my twin's child has feelings for him. It also occured to me that I'm not sure exactly how my brother feels about her - but I do think he's in love with her. I know he has feelings for her, but I do not know to what extent. I'll have to ask him - if we survive the fight with Mikael.
"I will, Hayley, I promise." He swore, a soft smile on his face and I studied him thoughtfully. "And, if you do find my brother, please, tell him we could do with another pair of hands?" And with that words, he hangs up the phone and turns to me.
"So, are we going to find the bastard and kill him, or are we going to stand here and look pretty all day?" I asked my brother, a malicious grin on my face. He returned it and walked to my side.
"Let's go." He held out his hand and I took it, grin still intact, before we speed off together. Towards Mikael and Cami's scents. It wasn't as easy as it sounded, especially with all of the other scents in these woods - curtsey of Hayley's packmate's. There are so many scents, it hides Mikael and Cami's scents beneath it, which makes it harder for even an Hybrid to track. Harder, but not impossible.
Nik and I are wandering around the outskirts of the Bayou, looking for Cami and Mikael - their scents are close by. Nik tuggs on my arm, which he let go from somewhere during our search, and points to a rock. The rock is soaked with blood outside an abandoned building. An anxious frown forms on my face as Nik touches it, and Cami's scent hits my nose. He sees a shovel nearby and breaks it in half and I break down a piece of palet wood before we both entered the building, where Mikael is holding Cami at knife-point.
My eyes widened and I use my supernatural hearing to listen to her heart beat - it's weak. The human is weakened by blood loss and is swaying on her feet, only still standing because Mikael is holding her up. If she doesn't get vampire blood in her system soon, she could die.
"You're gonna pay for hurting her." My twin snarls at Mikael, pointing his makeshift stake at him threateningly. Mikael carelessly lets go of Cami and drops her to the floor. Concern wells up inside of me as I see her eyes flutter shut.
"Aw, how sweet. The cur whines for its bitch." He holds Papa Tunde's blade in one hand, and the white oak stake in the other and it's slightly tempting to just grab Nik, turn around and run. "I'll be sure to drain the rest of her right in front of your eyes, just before you burn."
"The only one burning here today, is you, you sick bastard." I snarled at him, Hybrid eyes coming to the surface, before leaping into the air and spinning around mid air and throwing out my foot to kick him in the chest. It doesn't work and Mikael catches me before throwing me into the air. I go through the building wall and land outside on the pavement harshly. The sound of footsteps coming closer vibrates on the ground and a pair of breathtaking eyes locks on mine - concern and fear swirling in them.
"Oh, my God. Aleksios, are you okay?" Davina asks me while extending a hand to me and I take it, pulling myself up.
"I'm fine. I've had worse." I waved her off, pulling my hand out of her's with my heart clenching in my chest as I did so. I gave Kol a nod. The sound of fighting in the warehouse catches my attention. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and help my twin before he gets killed.
A hand grips mine before I can speed back inside. "No, you can't. Mikael will kill you." Her voice was desperate and filled with so much fear and pain that I almost didn't go inside. But then I remember all the times Nik and I have stood by each other and how he picked me up after Davina died and then again after she betrayed me in the worst way possible. I pulled my hand out of her's.
"You should have thought about that before you decided to lie to me and hide Mikael." I snapped at her and hurt shone in her eyes. It occured to me that this could be that last time I see her because I could die in there. And that hurt just as much as the possibility of losing my twin. "I don't trust you, but I forgive you. I understand why you did what you did. And I'm telling you this, because I could die when I go back in there." Tears followed down her cheeks and I brought my hand up to her neck and kissed her with all of the love I still felt for her. I pulled way before she could kiss me back, knowing that my twin needs me. "You will always be my heart, Davina Claire. I love you."
With that I let go of her and speed back inside, just in time to see Mikael and Nik fight. I speed forward and kick Mikael with all of my strength in his chest, spending him tumbling to the floor. Nik speeds forward then straddles Mikael, and though he tries to stake my twin while he's down, my blonde brother easily turns the stake on him, and musters up all his energy to break his grip to kill him.
Mikael throws Papa Tunde's blade to Cami and I speed to her, catching it just in time. I spin back around to see that Mikael has overpowered my twin he stabs Nik in the chest with the white oak stake. A burning pain blooms in my chest, on the exact place that my twin was stake and my hand flies to my chest, the knife clattering to the floor, and I fell to my knees as my brother lies on the floor and identical roars of pain escapes us. Just as I want to get up and help my twin, Papa Tunde's blade is plunged in my back and another roar of pain escapes me as a paralyzing pain spreads through my body.
Mikael kicked me and I flew through the air before hitting the groud, a few inches away from my twin, unable to do anything but watch as my twin starts to desicate and silent tears flows down my cheeks as I watch my twin brother. Slight relief fills me when nothing happens. Davina and Kol. It flashed through my mind. The white oak stake is a dark object and Kol and I practically invented dark objects.
"Why aren't you burning? If you were dead, it would burn. BURN!" Mikael growls, clearly furious that Nik isn't dying. A laugh of relief leaves my lips and I get a kick to the side of my body for my trouble. "Shut up!"
I see Cami crawled over to Nik's body and stares at the stake in his chest. "Don't stare at it. Pull it out." She grabs it and tries her hardest to pull the stake out, though it barely budges. Cami continues to try to remove the stake from my twin's chest, never giving up. "You can do it." Finally, Cami removes the stake from Nik's chest, and color starts to return to his skin and I can feel almost half of the pain in my chest disappears from my chest.
Panic fills me when Mikael returns to the room and I can smell Davina's blood all over him. "What do you think you're doing?" Cami sits up and turns, gripping the white oak stake tightly in her hand and pointing it at him and I closed my eyes, gathering all of my strength as I tried pushed through the pain.
"Stay the hell away from us! Or, I swear to God, I'll kill you myself." The blonde yells at him and I'm impressed with her courage.
"You have a warrior's heart. Perhaps I'll keep it as a souvenir." Mikael snarls at her and I try to push through the pain to get up, but I can't. I can't even move a finger. It was hard to speak earlier. Defeat slams through me and I send request up to the Spirts.
Make sure she is okay, please, I beg of you.
Suddenly, Marcel appears out of nowhere and then starts hitting Mikael over and over so quickly that he's too disoriented to fight back right away. Mikael eventually knocks Marcel flat on his back and grabs Nik's makeshift stake to point it at Marcel's heart. "Now, ENOUGH! This night has been a long parade of fools. I'll enjoy killing every last one of you."
Nik awakens with a gasp, and Cami bravely stands on her feet. My twin scrambles over to me and gently lifts my upper body before ripping out the blade of pain and I sighed in relief, gulping breaths of air as my brother helps me get to my feet. I stumble for a few seconds before getting standing steady on my own to feet but I was exhausted as I stood.
"Thanks, twinnie." I mumbled and suddenly, Hayley arrives and throws a chain around Mikael's neck and yanks on it so hard it knocks him off of his feet. The sight makes me smirk and as I snuck a glance at Nik, I see him wearing an expression of awe.
"Yeah, I wouldn't bet on it." She spat and she hits him in the face with the chain, and Nik clearly determinded, speeds closer to Mikael, Papa Tunde's blade in hand. I follow him and Hayley and Marcel rush over to us, and eventually we're joined by Davina, who gives me a concerned glance. We all stand in tableau and smirk at him, knowing that we finally have the upper-hand.
"It's over, Mikael. You're outnumbered. Are you going to beg for your miserable life?" Nik taunts, but I know he's just glad that we're not alone anymore.
To my surprise, Mikael starts laughing. "You think having people makes you strong? It proves how weak you are. Come find me when you don't have fools, women and children fighting your battles." He throws the scrap of wood at them and vamp-speeds away to somewhere I really don't care - as long as he just stays out of New Orleans.
Nik sighs but looks relieved and I turned to him with a smile and throw my arms around him, hugging him tightly and I grinned brightly through my fatigue as he hugs me back just as tightly - both of us beyond happy that we survived.
