REMINICING

Anger. Fury. Rage. What ever you want to call it, it has taken me over and is coursing through my veins with a fierce power, and all I see is red. All I want to do is break something. Anything. Everything. I throw the lamp on her bedside table at the wall, feeling satisfaction roll through me as it crashed against the wall and broke into thousands of pieces. My mother doesn’t want to kill us this time around. I suppose we should be happy about that. Thing is, her new idea is even worse than this one. She wants to put us all in new bodies and have us start over. Like hell.

I stomp with my foot on the couch in my room, splitting it in two. I grabbed one side and started ripping it to pieces. Then the half of the couch. Then I break the lamp on my side of the bed, shattering it as well. I sit down on the bed, then I open the drawer of my bedside table, knowing what’s waiting in there, but if still stops my heart. With trembling hands, I pick up the little black box and open it. I stare at the diamond ring, how long I’m not sure as I thought about how long I searched for the right one – nearly driving Nik crazy, it was the only thing he really did during those six months – but eventually tears stared rolling down my cheeks. I wanted to ask her to marry me. I wanted forever with her. And the worst part is, that even after everything that she did, I still want it.

“I’m so sorry, Lexie.” Nik’s voice rang out suddenly. I didn’t even notice him come in. He takes a seat next to me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. I lean against him, wiping at my cheeks with my one hand. I shut the box and held it out to him.

“Get rid of it. You can sell it or throw it away, I don’t care, just get rid of it.” I spoke softly, my voice thick with emotion. He hesitantly takes it from me and shoves it in his pocket. We sit there, in silence as thoughts of me and Davina swirl around in my mind. Why couldn’t she just kill Mikael the second the ancestors brought him back? Was my love for her not enough?

“Stop it.” My twin says, smacking my arm lightly. I give him a curious glance, wondering if I talked out loud. “You didn’t need to talk out loud, I know you, Lexie. I know how you love, trust me, I’ve been on the receiving end for the last thousand years. And you didn’t to anything wrong. You treated her like a queen. I think...I think she was so caught up in what she possessed and that she could kill me if she wanted, that she didn’t realise what she would end up losing.”

“Doesn’t make it right.” I mumbled stubbornly.

“No, it doesn’t.” He agreed. “But try and see it from her point.”

“I am, Nik. And no matter how I think about it, it comes down to the fact that she wanted to use Mikael to kill you. I understand why, I really do, I just can’t get past it. I don’t know how to forgive her.” I told him, moving out of his embrace. I have him a look. “What’s with you defending her anyways? I thought you hate her.”

“I don’t hate her, I don’t particularly like her, but I don’t hate her. How can I hate the person that makes my best friend so happy?” He answers, giving me a soft look and I scoffed. Trust him to tell me that after I broke up with her. “And as for you not being able to forgive her, that’s not true either. You forgave her the second you walked out of Rousseau’s. You just don’t know how to trust her and that’s why you broke up with her.”

I stared at him for a long time, thinking over his word and damn it, he’s right. After a few minutes I huffed, “I hate you.”

He laughed lightly, “I love you too.”

It was quiet for a few moments, and I could tell that he wanted to tell me something, but he didn’t know how. I waited for him, knowing that my brother isn’t exactly one for putting his feelings into words. “Hayley is considering our mother’s offer.””

I nodded, “I can’t say I blame her, twin.”

“How can you say that?” He asked, moving away from me to stand up. He paced the length of my bedside. I looked at him as he ran a hand over his short curls. A agitated breath left his lips as I watched him. “She can’t do this to Hope. I won’t let her.”

My eyebrows rose. “Is this about Hope, or the possibility that you might loose Hayley?”

He froze in his tracks, then turned to me slowly. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Right, of course not.” I deadpanned, standing up as the scent of strawberries and cream once again got to much for my broken heart. “I mean, it’s not like you’re saying that to your best friend of a thousand years that knows you inside out and even better than you know yourself, or anything crazy like that.” His lips tugged upwards. “It’s okay to let yourself love someone, take it from someone who experienced a powerful love, it’s a blissful feeling to know your love is returned.” I walked out, leaving him to consider my words, hoping he would take my advice even as my heart knew he wouldn’t.

“Lex!”

“Lex!”

“Aleksios!”

“What?” I growled, sitting up with my Hybrid eyes glowing as I shot up into a sitting position. I was enjoying a perfectly fine slumber. Until I was screamed awake by a rather annoying blonde. My glare met the terrified eyes of Cami who stumbled backwards and continued to take steps backwards when I threw the covers of me and got out of bed, stalking to her like a predator would do to it’s prey.

She held her hands up in the universal sign of coming in peace and surrender, “I didn’t know who else to come to.”

“How about my twin? Or Elijah? Or my sister?” I asked, my one eyebrow raising as I walked to her. Her back hit one of Nik’s bedroom walls.

“This is about Klaus, I don’t know where Elijah is and Rebekah is out of town.” The blonde human gulped nervously.”

My eyes rolled to the back of my head, “I was talking about Hayley, she is my sister as well.” I shrugged before remembering her first words. I hid my Hybrid face and my eyes narrowed. “What of Nik?”

“He, uh, he’s going after Davina. And I know you guys broke up, but I also know you two still love each other as much as you did before you found out what she did. I know it was wrong, and I know she should have told you. I don’t know what her reasons was or is, but I do know that she doesn’t deserve to die. So, I didn’t know where else to go.” She explained, rushing out her words but I still caught all of them. My heart dropped to my stomach. He wouldn’t really kill her, would he?

My eyes softened towards the blonde, “Thank you, Cami. You were right to come to me.” That was all I said before I sped into Nik’s closet – he moved my clothes over for me – and got a pair of light blue jeans, combat boots and a white t-shirt. “You don’t know where she is, huh?”

“I do actually.” She nodded. I gave her an expectant look. “Klaus said that Davina's family owns a little cabin in Terrebonne Parish.” I knew that place, it was supposed to be our place. My eyebrows furrowed as I muttered ‘the fuck does he know that?’. I shook my head, not really wanting to know. Memories of the first time we went there snuck up on me, taking me over. It was back in the beginning, when we just started dating and right after Nik banned Rebekah from New Orleans.

“I still can’t believe I let you take me into this.” Aleksios Mikaelson muttered as she stopped her SUV in the middle of the woods, in front of a little Cabin in Terrebonne Parish. A giggle from her left side had her turning her head. Her eyes narrowed.

“Come on, , it’s just the woods.” The witch told her Original Hybrid girlfriend with an amused glint in her eyes and another giggle leaving her lips. A sour expression came over the blonde’s face. Davina reached over and giving her girlfriend a kiss on the lips, watching as her entire face lit up at the small gesture. A content warmth crashed over the brunette beauty and she knew, in that moment, that there wasn’t any magic out there that is powerful as the love between them.

Aleksios regained her train of thought when Davina moved out of her personal space bubble ever so slightly. “Yes, love, and you realise that I was born in the first centuary.”

“Yeah, I know. You point is what exactly?” The witch asked, giving her girlfriend a raised eyebrow before getting out of the car. The blonde followed the actions of her brunette beauty out of the car with shake of her head and a sigh.

“My point is that I spent more than enough time in the woods and I have no desire to spend long periods of times in them if I don’t have to.” The immortal girl explained, opening the trunk and taking out their two bags. Davina watched her girlfriend thoughtfully, before shrugging.

“It’s just for a weekend, you’ll survive.” The witch finally spoke as she followed the female Hybrid as she started walking the place that would be their home for the weekend, who rolled her eyes at her girlfriend. “Besides, I can take your mind of it.”

Aleksios raised her eyebrows as she set down the bags besides the door of the cabin and looked her girl in the eyes. “And how, pray tell, are you planning on doing that, my ?”

Davina gave her a sultry look, “I can think of a few things.”

“I like the way you’re thinking.” The blonde smirked playfully, placing her hands on the witch’s hips and leaning the short distance forward to capture her lips in a toe-curling kiss that made desire and lust rise up in both of them. Aleksios pulled away, knowing that neither of them was ready for the physical part of their relationship just yet.

“How about you invite me in and I go take a cold shower?” She asked in a breathless whisper, her forehead leaning against Davina’s with her eyes closed.

“I invite you in, Aleksios Mikaelson.” The witched spoke, just as breathless. Davina pulled away to unlock the door of the cabin. She opened the door but before the brunette girl could step across the threshold, she was picked up bridal style by a familiar embrace. A giggle escaped her lips as she wrapped her arms around the blonde’s neck.

“Aren’t people who just got married only supposed to do this?” Davina questioned as Aleksios walked into the cabin with the witch in her arms, loving the feel of the witch in them. The female Hybrid shook her head at the direction her thoughts have once again taken. She really needed that shower.

“When we get married, I will do it again, I promise.” The Hybrid swore as she gently placed down her precious cargo, giving the witch a kiss on her forehead before speeding of to find the bathroom for a much needed cold shower. But Davina didn’t register much as she stood, stunned. Because Aleksios had said when they get married, not if. Like, it was a sure thing and she is in this for life, even if they’ve just begun to go out. Davina felt giddy all over. And she couldn’t wait.

“Thank you again, Cami.” I said, coming out of my memories, giving her a small pained smile. I hope it got my message of gratitude across.

“I’m coming with you.” She said and I opened my mouth to object but once I saw the determined look on her face, I shrugged.

“If you get hurt, you’re driving yourself to the ER. And if you die, I’m leaving your body out there.” I told her simply, walking out of Nik’s room and making my way downstairs. The Compound was empty for the most part – save for a few Crescent werewolves. And Nik thinks he’s not in love with Hayley. I snorted, before walking to the garage, keeping a human pace so that Cami could keep up.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and the feels. Also, I know I'm skipping a lot of scenes but I just leave out what isn't necessary and not important to my plot.

Votes and comments are always welcome.
