RING!

RING!

RING!

"What?" I ask grogily and irritated to the person on the other side as I pick up my phone, eyes still closed and thick with sleep. I don't like to waken up, I like to wake up when my body is done sleeping.

"Aleksios, hey. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." All of my irritation disappeared and a sleepy smile lit my face as I heard my girlfriend's voice.

My girlfriend.

I love that I can call her that.

"Good morning, love." I greet her, my tone softer and warmer. "No worries about waking me. If I have to be woken up by someone calling me on my phone, I'm glad the person calling is you." I assure her, knowing she will not stop apologizing if I don't.

"Oh, okay." The relief in her tone is very clear.

"Is there a reason you called me?" I asked her and that's when I noticed the noise outside my room.

"Not really, I just wanted to hear your voice." A smile lit my face at her words and I got a warm feeling in my chest, like when I kiss her, but better.

"Well in that case, I'm glad you called." I tell her sincerly.

"Can I see you later?" The brunette beauty asks me.

"Absolutely." I respond immediately. Like she has to ask.

"Our place?" She questions, refering to our coffee shop outside of the quater. I hum in agreement and I hear a voice call out to her.

"I have to go but I'll see you later." She tells me, her tone slightly sad. At least I'm not the only one that still wants to talk.

"I love you." I tell her, a smile on my face.

"I love you too. Bye." At those three little words, my smile widens. I would never get tired of her telling me that she loves me. I placed my phone on my bedside table, got up and walked out of my room to where I can hear my twin talking.

"What was all that noise?" I question loudly, leaning over the balcony and scowling when I saw Genevieve.

"Our brother has taken it upon himself to improve our home." My twin informed me.

"What's wrong with it right now?" I question, confused. I don't see anything wrong with it.

"That's what I'd like to know as well." Nik says and we both looked at Elijah, who only rolled his eyes in response to our question.

"So, what do you say?" Genevieve asks and I look at her with furrowed eyebrows.

"About?" I asked before I sped down, next to my twin.

"Well, Genevieve wants to hold a festival for the witches." Elijah informs me.

"Really?" I question in a deadpan voice.

"Yes." The red head answers me seriously.

"You tried to rip apart my family, now you want a party?" I ask her, narrowing my eyes at her.

"That's exactly what I said but the your twin took it upon himself to agree with her." Elijah comments and I give my twin an unimpressed look saying,

"I think all of that sex is rotting your brain."

"Look, Lex, it's nothing big. The covens haven't been able to celebrate feast days since Marcel restricted the use of magic." The red head tries to persuade me.

"What feast?" I ask, not agreeing nor disagreeing. If, by some miricale I agree to this it will be because of Davina and no one else.

"La Fête des Bénêdictions. Feast of the Blessings. In the past, members of the community offered witches gifts in exchange for blessings. We'd like to use it as a forum for introducing our young Harvest girls to society." She tells me, her tone hopeful.

"I'll think about it." Is the only answer I give her. Satisfied with it, she leaves.

"I don't think it's a good idea." Elijah says and I look at him.

"Oh, don't be such a stiff, Elijah. The tourists love a good festival. Besides, what better way to cement the solidarity than a show of faith toward a one-time enemy?" Nik comments and I roll my eyes.

"A onetime enemy with whom you've grown rather nauseatingly intimate." Elijah retorts and I nod.

"Rotten brains, I tell you." My comment only got a glare from my twin.

"Well, who said maintaining alliances can't be fun?" My blonde brother asks.

"And what happens when she tries to kill us again?" I question him.

"Then we kill her." He reponds simply and I shrug with a nod, happy with the answer.

"Good enough for me." I tell him and he smirks, to which I just roll my eyes.

"One would think you'd be a little more interested in attending to the needs of the mother of your child." My dark haired brother comments and I turn to him.

"So, she's the reason behind this oh-so-thoughtful renovation? Elijah, the truth is, the mother of my child is werewolf royalty. She's far safer in the Bayou with her pack than she would ever be here with us. Don't worry. I'll bring her home before the birth. No child of mine will be born in a swamp." Nik tells him and walks away as I chuckle .

"Can't say I'm suprised, I mean you rarely do anything without a reason." I say with a shrug and I walk to my room to go and get dressed for the day.

Me:

Now a good time?

From: Davina

Yeah, I have something to tell you.

As I waited for my Love in the coffee shop, sitting at our usual table, I thought about what she wants to tell me. I just hope its not something bad. The next moment, my eyes are covered by two small hands and a smile immediately grows on my face.

"Guess who." She whispers in my ear and a shiver runs down my spine when her warm breath hits my neck.

"The girl I'm crazy in love with." I responded with a smirk, knowing that my words will leave a blush on her cheeks. But the tables are turned on me when she leaves a kiss in my neck, making my breathing hitch and I feel my eyes start to glow, my wolf instinct coming out and I'm confused. This has never happened before. She takes her hands away and I close my eyes, taking control of my wolf. I hear the brunette beauty take a seat opposite me, and when I open my eyes again I see she has a smug look on her face.

"Mean." I tell her and she giggles, her cheeks still red from my words.

"You taught me that." She retorts.

"Yeah, remind me not to do that again." I tell her in fake seriousness and she giggles again.

"Can I get something for you two lovebirds?" A cheery waitress asks and I look at her.

"A cup of tea for me, please." I say politely and she writes it down. I turn back to look at my love again and when Davina looks at her my gaze zeroes in on one spot when I see the hickey I gave her. A sense of pride builds in me as I look as the purple-ish bruise and I smile at it.

"A chocolate milkshake for me, please." Davina tells her and she walks away after writing down her order as well. My gaze is still on my mark but it becomes less visible when she turns back to me. The smile on my face vanishes when she scowls.

"I see you recognise this?" She asks, pointing to her neck, her voice tone calm.

"Seeing as I did that, yes I do." I respond, my tone just as calm but inside I'm freaking out. My hands are sweating and my heart is hammering in my chest. I have never given someone a hickey before because I never wanted to. But now I want people to know that she belongs to me. Now I'm worried that she is going to be angry with me.

"Why the hell would you do this?" She asks me angrily and I gulp before answering.

"Because I want people to know you're spoken for." I tell her honestly. Her face softens and a slight smile grows on her face.

"I guess I can let it go this one time." She says and I let out a breath of air.

"So, you wanted to tell me something." I say, changing the subject.

"Yes, I do. Tonight it's the Feast of the Blessings." She started and I nodded, knowing this already. Elijah, Nik and I said yes. I mean, what's the harm?

"I know, Genevieve asked me and my brothers." I tell her and she nods.

"She told us that but that's not what I want to tell you." She tells me, her tone somewhat hesitant and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Then what is it, love?" I question her, my tone serious.

"The ancestors contacted us, or Monique to be spesific. They want the harvest to be completed. They want us to kill Genevieve." She tells me, her tone panicked.

"Are you accepting volenteers?" I asked, hoping to make her feel better but at the same time I'm serious. I would love to kill that bitch.

"Not funny." She tells me, an unimpressed look on her face.

"Alright fine. What is the problem, love?" I ask her.

"There isn't a problem, I'm just afraid." She tells me and understanding blooms in me. She is scared of the Ancestors. I reach over and I take her hand.

"I promise you, Davina, I will do everything in my power to protect you."
