Aleksios P.O.V:
Diego led us to the Cauldron. Thunder is rumblinng overhead as we follow Diego so that he can show us what he found. He stops and points to the ground.
"Fuck." I curse under my breath as see what it is that he found. Two vampires, both desiccated, andboth with the same magical symbol carved into their foreheads. Their bodies lay inside a magic circle, created with salt and runes drawn inside. I've only seen this work once before, two hundred years ago by a witch named Papa Tunde. He wanted a part of the city and Nik didn't like it, so he killed the witch's twin sons and then the man himself.
"We came to mess with the witches, just like you said. And these two, they went missing. Found them like this, not even staked. Just dead." Diego tells us and my twin and I share a glance.
"That's two more of my guys gone. Nice job, Captain." Marcel tells my brother and for the first time in a while, I roll my eyes. Marcel take one look at is dead men, puts his hood up, turns around, and starts to walk away. Can't say I blame him, this is dark magic.
"Where are you going? Someone has to account for this!" My brother shouts after him.
"You want revenge, get it yourself. That mark is tied to some bad mojo." He turns to face the rest of the vampires before speaking again. "Any of y'all got any brains, you'll head back to the compound and stay the hell out of this." Marcel walks of after he tells them and I turn to my twin as he turns to Diego.
"We're gonna find whoever did this, and I will show them what suffering is." He tells them and turns to me and opens his mouth to speak but I beat him to it.
"Are you sure you want to risk it?" I ask him. "Marcel is right, that mark is connected to dark and dangerous magic." I add on, the memory of Papa Tunde fresh in my mind.
"What do you worry so much? Magic can't affect you." He says in a mildly confused tone.
"No it can't." I agree before I add on: "But it can affect you."
"I will be fine." My twin tells me and gives me a soft smile. "Come on, lets go back to the compound." He tells me and speeds away with myself and the other vampires following him. Arriving at the courtyard we are joined by Elijah.
Nik, Elijah, Diego, myself and many of the other vampires are congregating in the courtyard, discussing our current situation.
"Ah! Someone will die for this." My twin says and I roll my eyes.
"New Orleans very own drama Queen." I say and he turns to me with annoyance plastered on his face. "Sorry, drama King." I correct and I hear snickers from the vampires and I see Elijah has an amused look on his face.

"Remarkably, I don't disagree. However, I would like to know where they learned such dark magic." Elijah says, getting back to the topic before my twins and I banter the whole day long. We actually did it once in Mystic Falls.
"Yeah." I say nodding. "It's not as if the covens encourage this type of magic. On the contrary, they try to keep it as far away from the witches as possible." I tell them and some of the vampires glance at me in suprise.
"I had hoped never to see that symbol again. I recall it is the signature of a fool who once stood against us." My twin says and I snort.
"That guy worked on my nerves like it's nobodies bussiness." I say with a huff and my two brothers let out chuckles of rememberance. I complained their ears of before Nik finally killed him.
"Clearly, some upstart witch is salvaging old tricks." Elijah says, getting serious once more.
"I'll do for him as I did the other." Nik says and he turns to Diego. "Diego, when night falls, I want you to gather every vampire in the Quarter. Get me the head of whoever did this and put it on a stick."
"Yeah. That's gonna be a problem. Everyone is freaked out, man. We haven't had witches killing vampires in a long time. Marcel made sure of that." The younger vampire tells him and I honestly don't blame anyone of them. If magic worked on me, I would be scared. That magic is dark, twisted and I wouldn't wish a death like that upon anyone. Well, maybe my parents. They did try to kill us, the one for a thousand years and the other by binding us together.
"Marcel has run off like a scared child. You lot are left with me. Now, who of you will fight to defend our home?" My twin asks and he looks around to see that no one comes forward. "Not a single one of you will stand with me, so afraid are you of this new threat? You should know better. I'll handle this myself." He says and storms off.
"What about me?" I ask the air that he left behind. He never even asked me if I wanted to come, maybe I would have said no because there is a decent chance that I would murder any witch I lay eyes on.
"Lex, would you please go after him?" Elijah asks me and I send him a look of disbelief.
"Do you really think it's a good idea for me to be anywhere near the witches. It's their fault she's dead." I spit out in a dark tone.
"I understand that but you are the only person on this planet that can stop him and keep him out of trouble. And magic doesn't affect you." He tells me and I sigh as I realise he is right. I give him a nod before I speed of after my favorite, yet idiotic brother.

I follow his scent to somewhere in the Cauldron. This place again, I think with a sigh. I look around the place and I see a drunk Sophie Deveraux stumbling around with a bottle of liquor as she approaches my twin in an alley in the Cauldron. I hide in the shadows and I decide to watch how this plays out.
"Big, bad Klaus Mikaelson." She says in her drunk state and I shake my head.
"Sophie. Just the witch I was looking to brutalize." Nik tells her and he speeds toward her and grabs her in a choke-hold. "Perhaps you could explain the attacks on my men."
"More like who attacked them." I say, revealing myself and my twin sends me a smile.
"Okay, I'll do it." Sophie tells us.
"Fantastic." Nik says as he lets her go. We take her to the dead vampires and we watch as she examines the abandoned desiccated vampires that was left for us to find.
"It's a complex spell. Old-school stuff, rooted in sacrificial magic. Whoever did this to your guys, my guess is they were an offering to gain more power. More guys they kill, more power they have." Sohpie informs us and I glare. Nik' phone rings, and he turns away as he answers it and I turn to Sophie.
"How about you tell me something I don't already know." I tell, more like order her and her eyed widen.
"How do you know that?" She asks confused.
"Not that it's any of your bussiness, but I have studied every type of witchcraft there is. I tapped into my magic when I was still human and when I became a vampire, I lost that ability." I tell her but Ieave out the part that Kol and I did it together.
"Wow." She breaths out with a look of awe and respect on her face.
"Yes, Sophie, there is more to me than being a cold hearted bitch." I tell her bluntly and I turn to my twin, only to see that he is gone.
"Dammit." I swear and I speed of after his scent. That is the second time today he has left without telling me and in doing so, he left me behind. I follow his scent to Rousseau's and I enter.
"Okay, you and I are going to-" I start but I cut myself off as I take in the sight before me and my eyes darken in anger. I lay eyes on a witch that is suppose to be dead, busy desicating my brother. Worry grows in me as I take in my brother's appearance. He looks deadly pale and as if he might die.
"Tunde." I growl out, my hybrid face out and he turns to me with wide eyes, fear shining in them because he knows that his magic won't work on me and yet he still doesn't release my brother. I speed over to him, grab him by the shoulders and I throw him across the bar and I help my brother up.
"Are you okay? How badly did he hurt you?" I question frantically in worry. He places his hands on my shoulder and smiles.
"I'm fine." He assures me and I relax. I turn to see Tunde is gone and I swore under my breath, again.
"Uhhh, is he dead?" I hear a voice ask and I look to see Cami coming out of the back room.
"Get out of here." My twin and I say simultaneously and we look to each other and my lips quirk up ever so slightly before the go down again.
"Is Marcel dead? Did that guy kill him?" She asks and ignoring what we said by continuing to walk towards us and my eyes rolls to the back of my head.
"He didn't finish him off. Marcel needs blood to heal. Go. Find me someone off the street." He orders her and I nod in agreement.
"I'll do it." She says fermly and I scoff.
"Are you crazy?" I ask retorically.
"No. Not you. I don't want you involved in this." My twin denies but she's a stubborn one.
"You don't control me anymore, remember?" The blonde female tells us and I glare. I go to take a step towards her but my twins hand on my arm stops me. I look over to him and he shakes his head and I look back to see as she puts his mouth to her neck. "It's okay, Marcel. It's okay. It's okay, Marcel." She says and I resist the urge to roll my eyes for the umpteeth time today but confusion grows in me and I look towards Nik, who looks on the two of them with a look of jealousy on his face.
I thought he like Caroline. Is that gone now that he has slept with her? Was it just physical attraction? I'll have to include this topic into our talk. Even after a thousand years - sometimes - my twin is still confusing, I think with a shake off my head and a sigh.

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.

UNSPOKEN
Unspoken is a book filled with poems and songs I've made throughout my life. Each chapter will be either a song or poem. They are similar to what many of you have experienced in life... featuring love, heartbreak, loneliness, etc. These are all the emotions I was never able to let out so I chose to write them out on paper.
