《HER LOVE • davina claire》15 | A FAILED DISTRACTION

Sitting in the bar, I listened to the music and wondered to myself, how does any sane person listen to this god awful music? Well, I guess everyone is entitled to listen to what they like and it’s not my place to judge. We are still waiting for blonde sister to show up so that she can distract Marcel and Nik can kill Marcel’s informant.

"Isn't this like old times? Just how drunk are you two?" I heard the woman in question’s voice ask, her tone was pleasant. I looked over at my sister to see which two she is referring to, only to see her staring pointedly at my twin and his sireling.

"What about Lex?" Marcel questions, gesturing to me with his hand that has a drink in it.

"She knows her limits." She replies with a shrug. That’s true, I do know my limits. Unless I’m pissed, or hungry. Then I just let my vampire side take over, it is very fun. Mostly I try not too hurt humans, I don’t have more of a right to live than they do, but I’m also not above killing one to serve my needs.

"Skating on the razor's edge. I'm gonna use the loo. Back in a tick." Nik suddenly says, slurring his words and feigning drunkenness. All acting so he can kill a vampire. I internally roll my eyes so that Marcel doesn’t get suspicious. My twin leaves and Rebekah stands next to Marcel at the bar.

"I haven't seen him this lushy since the '20s." She says and I snorted loudly, feeling the buzz of the amount of drinks I’ve had.

"Talking to your one ex-lover, about a time from another ex-lover. Nice Bekah." I commented with a chuckle and a thumbs up and I tune out of their conversation as the bartender approaches me, confidence in his stride. Uh, oh. I know that look all to well. Sorry, buddy, I’m into girls.

"Can I get you something?" He asks with a smirk, clearly trying to get me to swoon.

"Another shot of bourbon would be great." I answered simply and his face fell. He quickly prepares a drink for me. He hands me the drink with that smirk still in place.

"Here you go." He says and he slides a paper over to me. I pick it up to see a number with 'call me' written underneath it. I rolled my eyes and picked up the drink.

"What's that?" Beks asks from besides me. I picked up the piece of paper with my free hand and held it out towards her. Both Marcel and Bekah begins laughing, much to the confusion of the bartender looks confused.

"Is he your boyfriend?" He asks with jealousy in his tone while pointing to Marcel. The duo only laughs harder at his question.

"No," I replied to him and a happy smile takes over his face. "And I still won't go out with you or call you." I finish and his face turns sour.

"Is it the other blonde guy?" He asks, refering to Nik and this time my face turns into a disgusted one.

"God, no. He's the twin." I told him before downing the alcohol. I gesture for him to give me another as his face turns into an expression of confusion.

"Then why?" He asks me, his tone mirroring his face expression as he prepares the drink.

“You’re not my type.” I answered with a smirk, toying with him and he raised his eyebrows. "Cause I'm gay." I deadpanned, finally deciding to put him out of his misery. His face goes from confused to shocked to embarrassed.

"Sorry." He mumbles shyly, his ears tinting pink and his eyes looking everywhere but me as he hands me the drink.

"It's all good." I assured him but he looked unsure. “You’re not the first guy who has tried to flirt with me, some continues even after I’ve told them that I’m a lesbian.” His face filled with relief and I downed drink again and gestured for another one. While he pours the drink, I glanced back to Marcel and Rebekah, only to see them staring intently at each other.

"Everything okay?" I ask them, not having listened in on their conversation because I conversed with the bartender.

"Yeah, we're good." Marcel finally says. The tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife, so I form a plan.

"I need to pee." I announced, giving Bekah a pointed look and she reluctantly nods. I get up and make my way to the bathroom. Inside I wait for my blonde sister to come after me. The door swings open and she enters. I turn the tap on full blast so he won't hear us over the running water.

"What the hell is going on with you two?" I question her sternly, but in a hushed voice.

"Nothing is going on. I'm distracting him." She says defensively and I raised my eyebrows at her.

"Bullshit." I state crossing my arms over my chest and her eyes widen as her shoulders slacks. And that's when it hit me. "You're still in love with him." I state and she drops her head confirming my statement.

"Doesn't matter. He likes Cami. Lets go back." She says, pretending to be unbothered by his actions before turning around to exit the bathroom. I sighed, turned of the tap and follow her out. I saw my twin sitting at the bar and Rebekah joins him where we were sitting, but Marcel is nowhere to be seen.

"That was fast work, Rebekah. Where's Marcel? In there, touching up his lipstick?" Nik says, obviously not seeing me and I get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

"Credit me with some taste, it's filthy in there. Besides, Lex was with me. Where'd he go?" Bekah says in curiosity, referring to Marcel and Nik turns around to face me. He gives me a smile as a greeting and I returned it.

"He didn't tell you he was leaving?" He asks confused.

"No. When we went in there he was still out here." I answer him.

"Do you think he realized we were stalling him?" Beks asks worried.

"No. Unless..." Nik trails off and we glance at each other in realization.

"He was stalling us." We say in unison and Bekah mutters a 'freaky twin minds', causing me to roll my eyes at her. After a thousand years, she’s still not used to it.

"You go find Marcel, Bekah and I are going home." I tell Nik and he looks as if he wants to say something but decides against it and nods before he speeds off.

At the Mansion, Rebekah pours several drinks as she talks to Hayley and I listened. "I don't care if we have to get you a leash, that was your last trip to the Bayou. What is it with you and those wolves, anyway?"

"How fitting." I commented with a snicker and Bekah smiles while Hayley rolls her eyes at me.

"I feel like we're connected somehow. I don't know. Maybe it's just some pipe dream that I have of finding any real family out there. But sometimes, when I feel like it's me against the world, it keeps me going." She answers Bekah and I give her a sympathetic look. My family and I might fight and disagree a lot but I don't know what I'd do with out them. Rebekah hands her a drink. Hayley side-eyes her, and Rebekah suddenly remembers that Hayley is pregnant and can't drink, so she offers it to me. I shake my head, having drank enough for today at the bar – I still felt lightly buzzed.

"Oh, right.” She said in realization. “Well, if you ask me, family is a pain in the behind." She says and I snorted. That is so true

"Yeah they are. But I wouldn’t trade you guys for anything in the world." I say and she nods in agreement.

"And as for being in it alone, how dare you? I don't ruin a perfectly fabulous pair of boots traipsing through the Bayou for just anyone." Bekah tells her with a smile.

"And I don't sit in a bayou bar, listening to awful music the whole day long for anyone either." I added with a smile of my own and Hayley smiles, and Rebekah downs her second drink. Our conversation is interrupted by Nik walking through the front door.

"Nik, finally! What-" She starts relieved but cuts herself of and I turn to see Elijah walking through the door after my twin with a huge smile. I practically fly over to him and hug him tightly.

"Welcome home, big brother." I say and he squeezes me tighter at the mention of his nickname I gave him a thousand years ago. After I let him go, Rebekah runs to Elijah and hugs him just as tightly as I did.

"Elijah! You're safe! Now that you're home, is your first plan to kill Niklaus?" She asks after they break apart and I chuckled in amusement, knowing that she was joking. If she wasn’t, well, then Elijah and I would have a problem. I love my family, but my twin always comes first.

"Excuse me just a moment." Elijah says with a smile. He walks through the living room toward the back yard towards Hayley and I smirked. Those two are a love story waiting to happen.

"Where's he going?" Bekah asks confused.

"To greet the baby mama." I say in a ‘duh’ tone and she roll her eyes, but didn’t argue, knowing that I’m right. The girl left and I turned around only to come face-to-face with Nik, looking at me with hopeful eyes and a nervous smile. I know what he wants to know. I stared at him for a long time and his nervousness increased the longer I stare at him. I then speed over to him and crash him in a hug and he doesn't waist time to hug back. A huge sigh of relief leaves his lips.

"If you ever, and I mean ever, pull a stunt like that again, I won't let you off this easy. Daggering our siblings is one thing, but giving them to someone else is another." I warned him and I felt him nod against my shoulder.

"I'll try not to." He says in a sincere voice and honest voice.

"Good." I said as we let each other go.

"We need to talk." I hear Elijah say, more like demand, behind me.

"It was Nik who daggered you, not me. So don't order me. Not even Nik is allowed to." I tell him with a slight glare and he nods. We go up to the study, where Elijah stands behind the desk and explains everything that he has learned from Davina that day.

"Everything that brought us here to New Orleans was a lie. This story that Sophie Deveraux fabricated, this struggle for control of the French Quarter, this war between vampires and witches, wasn't over territory at all, this was over Davina." He says and my siblings look at me weirdly.

"What?" I ask them confused.

"No comment?" Bekah asks and I shake my head 'no'.

"No comment." I confirm in a serious tone. I know it's unlike me, but this involves Davina. I can't let my comments interfere with her life. The protective side of me is a dangerous one, and right now, that is the one that is out.

"Eight months ago, Sophie Deveraux and her sister Jane-Anne lost everything. Now, four months after that, a young pregnant girl wanders into their restaurant. Suddenly, all hope is renewed. Jane-Anne actually sacrificed her life so that her sister can use you to find Davina. If Sophie Deveraux is successful in capturing Davina, she can return Jane-Anne's daughter back to life. We thought we'd come here to wage a war for power. This is about family. In order to return her niece to life, Sophie Deveraux will fight to the death. That makes her more dangerous than anyone." He informs us. A deadly growl passed my lips, echoing through the house, making my siblings and Hayley look at me in fear as my Hybrid face surfaced. They know, when I’m angry, all my morals and rational thinking flies out the window.

"Sophie's. Dead." I spat out through gritted teeth, growls leaving my lips. My anger and protectiveness over Davina has taken over. My wolf wanted the blood of the threat to the brunette beauty and was itching to take control.

"Lex!" Nik calls out to me in a stern tone but I am to far gone in my anger, so I ignored him. Elijah speeds in front of me with a sorrow full look on his face. I barely had time to process what he was doing before he snapped my neck. The crack of my neck was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
