《HER LOVE • davina claire》2 | DOING WHAT IS RIGHT

"No. It's impossible. Vampires cannot procreate." Nik denies her claim faster that I've seen him do anything.
"But werewolves can. Magic made you vampires, but two were born werewolves. You're the Original hybrids, the first of your kind, and this pregnancy is one of nature's loopholes." Sophie explained to us and while I was sceptical, her words made a lot of sense.
Her claim is true, the girl is carrying you twin brother's child. I hear their voices in my mind and I swore under my breath.
"You've been with someone else, admit it!" Nik shouts at the poor girl and I roll my eyes at him.
"Hey, I've spent days held captive in a freaking alligator bayou because they think that I'm carrying some magical miracle baby. Don't you think I would've fessed up if it wasn't yours?" Well, she does have a point. I suppressed a snicker at her sass. I'm going to like her, even if she's not my type.
"My sister gave her life to perform the spell she needed to confirm this pregnancy. Because of Jane-Anne's sacrifice, the lives of this girl and her baby are now controlled by us. If you don't help us take down Marcel, so help me, Hayley won't live long enough to see her first maternity dress." The Deveraux witch says and my eyes darkened in anger. What the hell?
"Wait, what?" Hayley says, slightly panicked.
"Threatening my family? Now that not a very bright idea, is it?" I snarled at the witches, my Hybrid face out and they took a step back in fear. already confirm it, and although it's going to take some getting used to, I already accepted the baby as my family.
"Enough of this. If you want Marcel dead, he's dead. I'll do it myself." Elijah tells them and I snorted as my Hybrid face went away. Yeah so noble.
"No. We can't, not yet. We have a clear plan that we need to follow, and there are rules." Witch girl objects to his words and I narrowed my eyes at her.
"What the hell are you up to?" I questioned with anger in my tone.
"That's our bussiness." She told me and I glare at her, so she adverted her have to my twin. Like that's any better. "Now your are gonna help us." I raised my eyebrows and sighed. I resisted the urge to facepalm. The one thing thing about me and Nik that is common, is the fact that we don't like being controlled or told what to do. Here we go in...

"How dare you command me? Threaten me, with what you wrongfully perceive to be my weaknesses. I won't hear any more lies." Nik exploded and I sighed. I my brother but dead God he could be a pain in my ass sometimes.
"Nik," I called out softly and he looked at me. "They're telling the truth. confirmed it." Knowing who I was talking about, my twin's eyes widened.

"Niklaus. Listen." Elijah told my twin as he goes to leave. I listen as well and I hear a littleheart beat. It faint but it's there. Wow, that's my future family growing in there. I'm going to be an aunt. I grinned at the thought. I looked up at Hayley and I extended my from to her, making her shoulders relax.
"Kill her and the baby. What do I care?" I hear my twin tell them emotionlessly I sighed once again as he left. I turn to the witch with a glare and I walk up to her.
"What is stopping me from killing all off your friends right now?" I asked her, and she gulped nervously.
"You can't, you'll kill the baby." She tells me nervously and I grinned wickedly.
"No, I won't. You see, Hayley and the baby's linked to you, not the entire coven." I said smugly. "So all of your little friends-" I gestured around me. "- is fair game."
"Lex, please." I hear my eldest brother plead and I rolled my eyes as I turned to him.
"Fine, I'll talk to him. That's it." I said with a huff and go to look for my twin.
"That's all I ask." He says gratefully behind me, knowimg that I'll more that likely change Nik's minds.

I followed Nik around the city, giving him chance to think about the fact that in a couple of months, he's becoming a father. After a while, I catch up to him and linked arms with him.
"Elijah can't face me himself so he send you." He spat through gritted teeth and I frowned.
"Don't use that tone with me, I'm your twin, not one of your moron subjects or toys." I tell him, my tone stern.
"Sorry." He apologized sincerely and I grinned.
"It's okay, so you running from the poor girl or helping?" I questioned him.
"I don't want a child."
"That wasn't my question."
He stopped, removed his arm from mine and looked at me. "No, Lex, I'm not helping her and I'm don't want a child." His words was harsh and although I felt sorry for him - because finding out you're becoming a dad after a thousand years of being infertile can take its told on you - I didn't like is tone with me, so, I reached up and gave him a slap behind the head.
He opened his mouth but I cut him of by raising my hand in the air. When I was sure he wasn't going to talk I pointed my index finger at him. "Are you really going to leave her to fend for herself? Because that is not the man you are, no matter what other's say, I know you. The real you." I told him sternly. "And do you really not want a child? Or are you scared of unding up like Mikael?" I asked him, crossing my arms over my chest. He doesn't say anything, just stares at the ground.

"Don't screw up this chance, twin. I'll leave you too it." I told him, giving him a hug before walking away to find a bar, leaving him to decide what to do.
***
I'm downing another shot when someone slumps down next to me.
"Not interested." I say without looking up. Gesturing for the barman to bring me some more booze.
"Neither am I." An familiar voice retorts and I turned to him, eyeing him before talkinh.
"Marcellus, what can I do for you?" I asked him and he sighed heavily.
"Your brother." He answers, giving the bartender his order and this time, I sighed.
"What did he do now?" I asked, reluctantly, highly annoyed before gulping down another shot.
"He bit one of my guys." He replied sadly. Whoever it is, they must have been close for him to be this sad about it.
"Excuse me, I gotta go." I said through gritted teeth. I take out my purse to pay but Marcel waves me off. I get up and turn to leave but stop myself.
"Marcellus, I know it might not mean a lot, coming from me, but for what it's worth, you did good, actually you did amazing. With the city. I'm proud of you." I tell him honestly and he has tears in his eyes.
"Really?" He asked me, looking for any trace of a lie.
"Yeah." I say nodding. He reaches forward and hugs me.
"Thanks Lex, it means more than you think." He replies softly and hugs me tighter.
"So, I gotta go." I tell him, pulling apart.
"Yeah me too, I have plan a funeral." He said sadly.
"Maybe not." I retorted, smiling at him.
"What?" He asked, confused, but I just winked at him before turning around and leaving to go back home.
***
"Nik! Nik!" I shout walking into the plantation house.
"What is it 'damage Klaus's hearing' day, or what?" He says over dramatically.
"Oh shush you big baby." I told him, rolling my eyes. "What is wrong with you? You say you want to be his friend and then you go and bite on of his guys." I ranted. "You have one strange concept of being friends."
"How did yo- He complained to you didn't he?"
"I prefer gossip, but whatever floats your boat." I said with a grin, shrugging my shoulders, and rolled his blue eyes at me.
"Of course you do." He said, chuckling softly.
"Niklaus, where are you?!$" I hear Elijah tell as her entered the plantatil.
"Living room." I yelled to him, even though I knew he would have gotten to us eventually.
"Are you here to give me another pep talk on the joys of fatherhood?" Nik asks Elijah as he enters the room.
"I've said all I needed to say." He replies stifly.
"I forgot how much I liked this town." Nik says to both me and Elijah, the latter just joined us.
"Yeah, even after all this time. This city still feels like home." I commented.
"I didn't forget. All the centuries we've spent together, and yet I can count on one hand the number of times that our family has been truly happy. I hated leaving here." Elijah answers.
"What is on your mind, twin?" I asked Nik who looks deep in thought.
"For a thousand years, I lived in fear. Any time I settled anywhere, our father would hunt me down and...chase me off. He made me feel powerless, and I hated it. This town was my home once, and in my absence, Marcel has gotten everything that I ever wanted. Power, loyalty, family. I made him in my image and he has bettered me. I want what he has. I want to be king." Nik says and I nod.
"Strange, isn't it?" I asked, making my two brother look at me. "We're the strongest creatures in the world, yet, for a thousand years our lives were ruled by fear."
"And what of Hayley and the baby?" Elijah asked and I looked at my twin, curious as to what he decided but I have a feeling I already know his choice.
"Every king needs an heir." Nik says, smiling as he did so.
"Of course you do." I deadpanned with a huff although I was happy with what he decided.
"You need to heal the vamp you bit or I will. Figured you'll want to make peace with Marcel." I told Nik and he nodded at me, still smiling.
"In the morning." He agreed.
"Alright."
***
"I had time to sleep on it last night. I am not your enemy. Where my family and I failed this town...you succeeded." Nik says to Marcel as he is standing by his dying friend.
"My blood or Nik's will heal him, as though it never happened." I say while Nik's letting some blood drip into a glass. He gives it to Marcel, who gives it to his friend.
"The Quarter is your home, but we would like to stay a while, if we're still welcome." Nik asked, and a wide grin spreads across Marcel's face.
"I asume I have you to thank for this?" Marcel says looking at me as he gave hie friend the blood.
"Only half way." I answered, grinning.
"Well I'm bored. I'm gonna go drink the day away unless you need me. If you do, give me a call." I tell my twin and he gave me a nod. I give him and Marcel each a hug and speed of to Roussouw's.
Hours later I stumble into the house and speed up to my room, where I pass out.

So, Lex isn't meeting Davina yet because it wouldn't fit with my story line.
Hint: they meet in the church.
