《All At Once》"... the evil egg ..."

It's been about a month since I sent in my resume and portfolio for the job. I hadn't received a single call, that is until now.
I rushed towards my phone, quickly pushing the button to accept the call.
Hello, may I speak to Ms. Harper Riley.
I wiped my already sweaty palms on the front of my jeans with my phone tucked firmly in between my ear and shoulder.
"This is she," I said as calmly as possible.
This is Kayla Reed, manager of the Dallas Cowboys. Congratulations Ms. Riley, you have been selected to meet with the me for an interview, where we will ask you a few questions, to see how you will mesh with the rest of the team. We are also meeting with two other candidates. If at all possible we would like to meet with you tomorrow, if it isn't too short of notice.
I couldn't believe it. My eyes were huge and my heart was hammering. With as little shake in my voice as possible I said, "Tomorrow works perfectly."
Perfect we will see you at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning at the stadium. Come in the main gate and there will be a security detail to lead you to the designated office. See you tomorrow Ms. Riley.
"Thank you so much Mrs. Reed, I'll see you tomorrow," I said with excitement lacing my voice.
I look forward to it.
And with that the line went dead. My phone dropped from my hands, and my feet left the ground as I jump with joy.
I quickly messaged Logan and called my parents telling them the news, since we no longer lived together. Of course they were happy for me. Logan was almost as excited as I was.
Almost.
I went up to my room and picked out an outfit that I knew would look professional, yet tasteful at the same time.
It was a pair of black jeans, with no rips. I also wore a white blouse with a white blazer paired on top. And to finish it, I added some nude pumps and a tan purse.
That night I went to bed with a smile, gracing my lips.

The next morning I woke up oddly nauseous. Though I wasn't ill enough to fully vomit. I waved it off, thinking that the neasea was because I had yet to eat.

I decided to go make myself breakfast. Digging through my fridge the only thing I could find to cook was eggs.
Putting them on the pan, I made my eggs exactly how I always have.
Sunny side up.
After they were finished I put it on my plate and went towards the table.
But as soon as I cut into the yoke and watched the gooey substance pour, I knew I was done for.
I rushed out of my seat, down the hall barely making it to the toilet in time before chunks of last night's dinosaur nuggets were quickly coming up.
Once I was certain I was done and there was nothing left to come up. I went to my bedroom to change, completely ditching the evil egg in the dining area.
No matter how sick I was, this interview was very important. Besides after blowing chunks, my stomach was feeling much better. Though I think for now I should stay away from food.
Once I had my outfit on and a light layer of makeup coating my face, I made my way out to my black Malibu.
As soon as I reached the stadium I headed towards the gate, as promised there was a security guard who brought me to an office at the very top of the stadium above all the seats.
As we were walking, I looked down from the steps and noticed that the team was currently having practice.
They weren't in full pads because they seemed to be only running at the moment. Their muscular bodies were all on full display, and may I just say that it was a sight for sore eyes.
There were a certain set of muscles, that almost seemed familiar, though since we were so high up, I couldn't be sure.
Before I could look any longer I was lead into an office filled with plush furniture and a desk.
Behind the desk was a women who looked to be in her early thirties.
Mrs. Reed.
"Hello dear, it's so nice to meet you," she said standing up and shaking my hand.
"You as well, Mrs. Reed."
"Oh please, call me Kayla," she said waving off the formality.
I gave her a small smile and we both took our seats on opposite sides of the desk.
She asked me many questions. Some that were very easy, and could be answered from the top of my head, but then there were other ones that required a bit more thinking.

At the end of the interview I noticed that in her trash can there was a opened box of Chinese food that I'm guessing she ate for dinner.
The smell cause a little bile to rise in my throat.
"Harper, are you alright?" she asked with concern.
"I'm fine, it's just ever since this morning, my stomach has been very sensitive to foods," I laughed. "I couldn't even look at the yolk of my eggs with throwing up."
She looked at me hesitantly. "Harper, I know it's none for my business, but are you sexually active?" she asked, and my brows furrowed.
"The last time I has sex was about five weeks ago."
She looked at me with wide eyes. "Was it a boyfriend?"
I gave a nervous chuckle. "I'm ashamed to admit that I really didn't know the guy that it happend with."
She laughed, "Its ok, before I was married I did my fair share of one night stands."
I was surprised. She looked so professional, I couldn't ever imagine her messing around at all.
"Do you have any idea who it was?"
"His name was Myles, he had dark hair and blue eyes, and muscles to die for."
She smirked at me.
"Honey, you got the job."
She started to get up and leave the room, but before she made it out she said, "And you might want to go get yourself a pregnancy test before you go celebrating too hard." And with that she left the room.
Pregnancy test?
Suddenly everything started to come together.
What if I am actually pregnant. I don't even know who the guy is that I slept with.
And I'm just now remembering the fact that we didn't use a condom.
Oops?
After sitting there for a good five minutes, debating my life choices I finally exit the office. But only on the way out do I meet someone I never thought I'd see again.
Today's practice has been exhausting. Coach wasn't going light on us. Even though we do have several months before we actually start playing, our spring training is just as hard as regular season training.
What started out as light stretching and a few laps around the field, quickly became several suicides on the field and sets of ladders.
It's been five weeks since my night with Harper and I've almost lost all hope in ever seeing her again.
As the team was getting a drink break, we noticed one of the security guards escorting a women back to the gate.
I didn't know who it was until she turned to look at us.
Harper.
It was an out of body experience. For the past five weeks, she's been running through my mind, and now she's standing in front of me.
Her face is slightly flushed. When our eyes connected. Her already pink face, turned a deep scarlet. A small look of surprise graced her flawless features.
She looked down at the ground, lost in thought. Finally she looked as if she made some sort of decision.
Harper walked over to me with confident strides. When she reached me, she pulled out her phone with a determined look in her eyes.
She then reached her perfect lips towards my ear and whispered, "Put your number in my phone, because I have a feeling that I may need it in the near future."
I didn't know what that meant, but frankly I didn't care. This girl that had clouded my mind for weeks is asking for my number.
Without hesitation I reached my hand out and took her phone, dialing in my number and sending a quick message to myself so I would also have hers.
When I handed her phone back she seemed more collected.
She once again reached her lips towards my face this time planting her lips against my cheek. "Thank ya, handsome," she said with her sweet southern drawl, then winked.
I nodded dumbly. My mouth slightly agape, but quickly recovered.
She then sauntered back towards the gate, her hips swaying almost seductively, taunting me. Low whistles could be heard once she was out of sight. I rolled my eyes at the action, whilst also getting a small pat on the back from Teagan, followed with a wink and the wiggling of his eyebrows.
Suddenly the whistle blew signaling us to head back to the field.
Can't wait for that call.
