《My Brother's Best Friend》Chap. 42

I raced off campus as soon as the last bell rang, excited pouring through my veins.
I raced home, hurrying upstairs to my apartment.
I was so excited that I dropped my key on the floor as I tried to stick it into the door.
I let out a frustrated groan before successfully picking my key up off the ground, only to discover that the apartment was already unlocked.
I dropped my backpack in the living room on my way back to my bedroom.
My final clue had been my bed, and I had no clue what was waiting for me.
I threw open my bedroom door.
Sitting on my bed was a v-neck Minnie Mouse shirt, a pair of Minnie Mouse ears, and two tickets to Disney World.
My heart stopped in my chest.
I was going to fucking Disney World.
I let out an excited squeal, whirling around to see Parker leaning against my doorway with a smirk on his face.
"Surprise," he said.
I jumped into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist.
"I'll take you that you like it then?"
I planted a kiss on his lips before dropping back to the floor. "What the hell is this? We're going to Disney? Please tell me we're going to Disney. Of course we're going to Disney, there's fucking Disney passes on my bed. But how? Why? Who cares, I'm going to Disney!"
He laughed, his arms still wrapped around me.
I really liked that.
"I can't believe that you've never been to Disney World. That's like a Floridian classic."
"I get to see where Minnie Mouse lives," I gushed. "And Peter Pan. Oh my God, Peter Pan is at Disney World and I get to meet him!"
"This is all true."
"And is Tigger there? Tigger is there isn't he?"
Parker nodded.
"This is the best day of my life."
"And we haven't even made it to Disney yet."
~*~
"Oh my God look!" I squealed, pointing out my window. "It's Mickey Mouse ears."
"You pass those every time you're in Orlando," Parker informed me.
His arm was casually wrapped around my seat as he navigated I-4 traffic.
"But this time it's so much more exciting because I'm actually going to Disney World."
"I'm not sure I thought this one through."
"Can we see Peter Pan first?"
"Who the hell cares about the rides when there's Peter Pan?"
"Exactly."
"I don't even know anybody who likes that movie," Parker informed me. "It's so old and weird."
"You're weird," I retorted, childishly.
He chuckled, getting into the right hand line.
"Are we exiting now? Is this the Disney exit?"
"Not yet young grasshopper. Patience."
I pulled my knees up to my chest, resting my chin on the tops of my knee caps as I watched the traffic whiz by outside.
"You're wiggling with excitement," Parker informed me, after a few minutes of silence. "It's about the most adorable thing I've ever witnessed."
"I can't help it," I exploded. "I mean, there's a castle at Disney World! And there are fireworks, and there's Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and I bet all of their friends will be there and this is probably the most exciting moment of my life."
"Really? I couldn't tell."
And then he finally exited off of the highway.
"This is the Disney exit!"
"Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner."
I ignored his smart remark as we merged into traffic. Apparently a random Sunday morning in the middle of March is an inviting day to go to Disney World.

We eventually were granted the privilege of parking, after paying a ridiculous amount.
But I didn't mind, because we were finally where the magic happens.
Disney World.
I looped my Michael Kors purse over my shoulder as I stepped out of the car, intertwining my fingers with Parker's.
Parker led me a tram stop, where we had to wait in line to ride the tram to the park.
"The lines only get worse from here," Parker informed me.
"Don't ruin this for me."
He just smirked.
We sat side-by-side on the tram, and Parker let me have the outside seat so I could watch the scenery go by.
"We could get you a First Time button," Parker said to me. "And pin it right here." He reached over and touched my shoulder. "And then everyone in the park would know that it's your first time at Disney."
I stuck my tongue out at him.
The tram eventually rounded its last corner, and the stop came into viewing distance.
And I could see Magic Kingdom in all its glory.
We were some of the last few to step off the tram, and we headed straight for the entrance since Parker had bought his tickets ahead of time.
"Your brother showed me how," Parker informed me, as we waited in line to get inside the park. "I have no idea how to purchase things in advance."
"That doesn't even surprise me."
I had to get my bag checked, which meant that the security guard saw my disposable camera, iPhone, lip balm, wallet, and hand sanitizer, before allowing us to head over to the turnstiles.
Parker handed me my ticket.
"Did you not trust me with this earlier?" I teased.
"Definitely not."
I handed it to the lady behind the turnstile.
"It's her first time," Parker informed her.
"I hope you have a magical day," the lady said to me, with an ear-to-ear smile, as she scanned my ticket.
And the turnstile let me into Disney World.
"Take my picture," I said to Parker, as soon as he entered Magical Kingdom as well.
"And we're off," he said, with a laugh.
But he willingly took my picture inside the park.
And then, hand-in-hand, he led me towards Space Mountain to start our day.
~*~
"So in the front of this line is Peter Pan?" I asked Parker, as I sipped my very expensive lemonade.
"He is indeed," Parker promised.
"This is so exciting."
The line slowly inched forward.
"You have to make sure that my picture is perfect," I said to Parker.
"I will," he promised. "It will be the best picture ever taken on the face of the planet."
"No need for your sarcasm."
He laughed.
Eventually the line continued to clear out until it was my turn to meet Peter Pan.
Parker abandoned me, heading over to get into position to take our picture.
I'd watched the person in front of me with Peter, and I saw why the line took so long.
He took time with each individual. The girl in front of me was dressed like the Disney princess from the new Frozen movie, and he'd chatted with her for a good 2 or 3 minutes before taking a picture with her.
He was a good Peter Pan.
"Well hello there," Peter said to me, with a smile. He stopped, giving me a onceover. "Minnie Mouse?"
"Hi."
He took my arm, pulling me over to his little spot.

All I wanted to do was give this boy a hug. Peter Pan had always been my idol growing up.
"And what's your name?"
"Emily."
I literally felt like the little girl that had talked to Peter Pan just before me in the Frozen dress.
"You don't have anything for me to sign?" Peter Pan asked me. "What did you wait in line for?"
I couldn't help but laugh. "What are you supposed to sign?"
"The autograph book!" He pointed to the kid behind me, who was holding a little book in his hand. "See?"
"That's a cute little book."
"Is this your first time at Disney?"
I nodded. "Is it that obvious?"
"That's so cool! Of course I'm the first person you waited in line to meet today because I'm the best."
"You are," I agreed. "You're my favorite."
"I like you."
I couldn't help but laugh again.
"Okay so trick question, what story good story didn't start with once upon a time?"
"Your story," I said, with a smile.
"Oh, you're smart. You'd be surprised at how many people I ask that and they don't know the answer."
"I told you that you're my favorite."
"Okay," he agreed, with a sassy smile. "Then how does my story start?"
"All children grow up except for one," I recited.
I cannot put a number on how many times I've seen that movie. I could probably quote it.
"You are good," Peter Pan agreed, with a full-blown smile. "Let's take a picture."
I wrapped my arms around him and turned to smile at Parker.
He took a couple, one with my iPhone and one with my disposable camera.
And then Peter Pan reached out his arms and gave me a tight hug.
It was a life completing moment.
"Thank you," I said, after I let go.
"See you later," he said, waving as I skipped over to Parker.
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
"Are you happy now?" Parker asked, with a smile.
"My entire life is complete."
"Peter Pan is in the big parade they do here."
"Then obviously we're going to watch that parade."
"Well in the meantime, what would you like to do?"
"I'd like to go and ogle at the castle."
"Lead the way."
"As if."
He laughed, pulling out the park map to figure out where the hell we were at.
Once we got our bearings, Parker took in the direction of the castle.
It was beautiful.
"Fit for a princess," Parker said, smiling at me.
"You can be cute when you want to be."
"I did the couples shirts," he pointed out, pointing to his Mickey Mouse shirt and then to my Minnie shirt. "And I'm not going to wear anything on my head, but I did that."
"Are you trying to bash my Minnie ears?"
"Never."
I looked around, before spotting a family that was staring up at the castle as well.
I trust families more than single people milling around.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"What are you doing?" Parker asked me.
The mother looked over at me.
"Will you take our picture?" I asked her, handing her both my iPhone and disposable camera. "On both of these if you don't mind."
"Sure," she agreed.
"You're such a tourist," Parker informed me. "A picture in front of the castle."
"You're going to be in it with me you goober."
"Says who?"
"Why did you think I asked a stranger to take the picture rather than you?"
"Are you ready?" the mother asked us.
"We are so going down in tourist history for this," Parker informed me, before wrapping an arm around me.
I reached up on my tiptoes, pressing my lips to his.
I didn't care what Parker said. I wanted my cute picture in front of the princess castle.
"Thank you," I said to the mother, once she finished snapping our pictures.
She nodded before heading back to her family.
"It's so cute," I gushed, looking back through my iPhone photos.
Parker just shook his head.
"Remember how I said you can be cute?" I asked him.
He nodded.
"I take that back."
"Aw come on," he said, laughing.
I stared back up at the castle. I could practically feel the magic radiating off of it.
"It gets better at night," Parker promised. "Let's go ride the Haunted Mansion."
~*~
Parker was right.
There's three words I never thought I'd put together in a sentence.
I watched as the fireworks exploded over Cinderella's Castle, lighting up the night sky.
Another shiver coursed through my body, and Parker pulled me closer to him.
"Are you sure you don't want to go?" Parker asked me.
I shook my head, as the lights slowly faded from the sky.
Only to be replaced by new exploding fireworks.
"You're shivering," he pointed out.
"I don't care."
He chuckled, wrapping his arms around me to try and keep me warm.
I turned into him, letting his body envelope mine as my eyes followed the fireworks.
"Did you have fun today?" Parker asked me.
"It was magical."
He chuckled.
"In the most sincere way," I added.
"What was your favorite part?"
"Meeting Peter Pan," we said in unison.
"Second favorite part," he amended.
I thought about it for a second, resting my head against his chest as the next set of fireworks went off.
"Spending the day with you."
"Oh you little stinker," he muttered. "I take you to Disney World and you pull that?"
I chuckled, watching as the colors dissipated in the air. "It was though. It was a beautiful day spent with you."
"You're something else."
I laughed, waiting for the next set of fireworks.
"But I guess that's why I love you Emily Winston."
My heart stopped in my chest.
I looked up into his eyes as he looked down into mine, both of us silent as the fireworks exploded in the air.
"You love me?" I asked him.
He simply nodded, a smile inching its way across his face.
I rose up on my toes, throwing my arms around his neck as I pressed my lips to his. "I love you too."
"I know."
"You can be such an asshole. But I bet you know that too."
He laughed, his arms wrapped around my waist. "So do I have to ask you then?"
"Of course you still have to ask me you pompous jerk."
He smirked, holding back a laugh. "Emily Winston, will you be my girlfriend? Again?"
I looked up in the sky, watching as the fireworks exploded above us before looking back into Parker's eyes.
"I wouldn't want it any other way."
