August 12th, 6 months and 33 days since the last zombie report
It'd been about 10 minutes neither Paxton or Elaine bad come back yet. I was getting antsy.
Mainly because my extremely handsome man friend who I'm casually fucking is having a chat with a very beautiful women who invited us into her safe house.
Deciding to ignore it, I headed to the library. I saw a really good book the other day that I want to read.
"Hi Sophia." I smiled, "Hi dear."
I placed myself between two shelving units and sat on a comfy chair, opening the book.
'How to Save The World'
I thought it was quite fitting.
Halfway through, I heard footsteps and turned around, seeing Alex come in. He looked worried, "Alex? You okay?" I asked, "Yeah uh- it's Riley."
I dropped the book and ran to Alex's room where Riley was laying on the bed crying
His face was red and he looked like he was breaking out in hives or something.
His little hands were beginning to turn blue.
"What the hell?" I cried, picking up Riley in my arms. Alex started to cry, "Hey. There's doctors here, come on."
* * *
"HELP. SOMEONE HELP!" Alex screamed, "DOC!"
A doctor came out, I can't remember her name but she took Riley from me, and rushed us into a room, "What happened?" She asked, putting his tiny body on a bed, "After lunch he just started crying and then turning red I- I don't know." Alex mumbled.
"Okay. We'll do a scan. You need to leave the room so we can work, please." "What? N-no. He's my brother." Alex said panicked, "Alex, come on."
I led his shoulders to the wall. He slid down it and out his head in his hands, "It's okay. It'll be okay, he'll be fine."
"How do you know that? He's a baby Elle. He can't fucking speak." Alex yelled, tears in his eyes. I hugged him tightly, "Because he's a fighter. Like his big brother."

Alex sobbed under my arms as we sat on the cold floor, waiting for results. Beeping was heard and muffled talking, but no one had come out.
Gage rushed over after he heard and told us he'd go find Paxton and Elaine.
I mentally cursed him for finding Elaine but I guess if it's something serious, she'd have to know.
After an hour or so and nothing was said, I began to panic. "What if-" Alex paused, "What if it's something serious. Like, what if he's been exposed to the radiation or something like that." Alex snuffed, "We can't think like that Alex. This bunker is air-right. We're safe." I said, reassuring myself and him.
He nodded, "I know. But what if-" "No buts and no what ifs. He'll be okay Alex I promise." I whispered.
Leaning my head on his shoulder, I closed my eyes.
"Hey. What the hell happened?" Paxton said, kneeling in front of us.
Elaine whizzed past, rushing through the doors, "Riley just started crying and breaking out in some rash I- I don't know." Alex said. Paxton patted his back and noogied his hair, sitting next to me.
The protective side of Paxton took over as he pulled me off Alex and onto his shoulder. "Where were you?" I whispered, hearing him sigh, "I really did have to help Elaine with something I swear." He said, "What was it? Can you tell me?"
Paxton took my hand, "It's not my news to tell." He shrugged, "So why could she tell you and not me then? Is she that important to you?" I said, my jealously taking over. Paxton shushed me, "Elle, stop that. You know thats not what it is."
I pulled away from him, "No I don't know that Paxton. I don't know anything right now. You say it's fine, that Elaine means nothing to you, that she annoys you when she flirts with you- yet when you voluntarily talk to her or spend hours with me, I don't know how to act."
"It upsets me." I sigh, closing my eyes.

Paxton was silent, "I'm sorry." He mumbled, "It doesn't matter. I just- I don't know what's wrong with me." I stood up, "Where are you going Elle?"
I ignored him and walked down the hall to my room.
Is there something wrong with me? Why am I acting so jealous? Is Paxton falling out of love with me? Maybe it's the bunker.
He spent an hour with Elaine today. An hour. What could someone possibly need help with for an HOUR.
I gave my virginity to him - which isn't really a big deal to me. But it still kind of hurts when the man you love is spending time with other women.
I closed my notebook, chucking it on the floor. That was the last page.
A frustrating scream came out of me as I threw myself onto my bed, I sighed.
Stop being pathetic, Elle. I thought.
I know I'm being pathetic and acting like a child but I've never had a boyfriend or anyone who cares for me before so it's a weird feeling for me and I love Paxton so you can expect me to be a bit protective.
I left my room again, heading to the hospital wing, Alex, Gage and Pax were still on the floor, "Anything?" I asked.
Alex looked at me and shook his head, "Nothing."
I sat down again next to Paxton, not saying a word. He just put his hand on my knee.
A couple minutes of silence, the door opened and a nurse stepped out. We all shot up immediately.
She was smiling, "He's absolutely fine. Nothing to worry about." She said, I breathed a sigh of relief and heard Alex breath shakily, "What happened to him?"
She led us into the room where Riley was smiling happily, "He had an allergic reaction. Turns out, this little man is allergic to oat milk, which is what was in his yogurt for lunch." She smiled, rubbing his head.
Alex sat on the bed next to Riley, "Thank you, Doc." He smiled, "It's what I do." She shrugged.
Leaving Alex with Riley, we headed to the hallway. Paxton wrapped his hands around me so my back was pressed to his chest. He kisses my chest, "I'm sorry I made you upset." "No I'm sorry. I overreacted. I've just never felt this way about anyone before and- I'm-"
He nodded, "Me too. I don't want anyone touching you." He whispered.
Elaine came out, talking with Gage. They spot us as come over, "Elle, may I have a word with you." Elaine smiles, I keep a normal face, "Sure."
She leads me too the hallway behind the one we were previously in. "I'm sorry. If you think I was making moves on Paxton."
She looks nervous. Her face is red, "The truth is- I'm Gay." My eyes went wide, "I have feelings for Megan but she turned me down. And when we recused you, I realised I was catching feelings for you too." She said with a shaky voice, "So why were you flirting with Paxton if you're Gay?" I asked.
"I tried to ween myself off you and Megan by acting uninterested. I realised that flirting with Paxton was making you upset and I tried to stop, but when you got mad, you're cute so." She smiled sadly.
My heart hurt for her. There only being 3 girls in the world and two of them being straight, "It's okay Elaine. Thank you for saying sorry. I forgive you." I smiled, "Just don't do it again." I giggled.
She smiled, "Definitely not. Guys aren't my type." She joked. I laughed loudly, "I'm sorry too. It must be hard you know." She shrugged, "It is what it is.".
It is what is is.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.

Rage: Crisis / Consequence / ???
Its been ten years since Seth was given his powers, ten years since his town was driven mad by that very same power, and ten years since its source was shunted into his head. A species of energy beings, a people filled with regret for what their entrance onto this world caused. Regret for the deaths that town perpetuated, the devastation they brought, the blow they served to the once proud heroes of this world. Heroes Seth now hopes to join, hopes to heal and atone to for what transpired. But their wounds run deep, their ire sharp, and their acceptance thin. And to top it all off... Seth's power is run far deeper than he knows, and sees his world in a light all its own. This series is my first foray into authoring, with two parts out of at best four if the readership stands. But part three will still book end nicely otherwise. And I'm not stopping till then. It is action heavy with varied and ramping up fight scenes through out. (Book 1 is heavy / Book 2 a little lighter) It is bloody in places, mildly gory in others, and heavily gory in simulated places. Nothing truly horrifying, I think, but be warned. It has trauma. PTSD is a major part of the story, but I will never trust that I got it completely right, so your mileage may vary on how believable or impactful it is. Lastly it has language. Swearing ebbs and flows as the story progresses and attitudes harden or soften. Sometimes bleeding through into the narration... somehow.
