《Dancing In The Dark ✓》the mistake

Getting to this point was easier than I'd thought initially. All it took was for me to take off my hoodie while maintaining intense eye contact with him, revealing my crop top. And the guy liked it.

"Oh fuck it," he'd murmured, closing the distance between us and slamming his mouth onto mine.

And we've been here ever since. Me with my back against the kitchen wall, his mouth pressed against mine, his hands moving where they shouldn't. He's kissing my neck now, not nearly as gentle as when Josh used to occasionally. He might leave one of those things. What are they called? Love bites? There's no love between us though, that's for sure. It's just him and me, kissing in Ben's kitchen just five minutes after meeting.

"God, you're gorgeous," he murmurs, moving his lips to my mouth.

He's no Josh, but he's a good kisser. A great kisser. In the last however many minutes we've been here, his tongue has edged its way into my mouth and his hands have crept up my top and he's kissing me.

"—What do you say we go upstairs, gorgeous?" His lips are tracing my jaw now. "Come on, let me..."

Upstairs. Upstairs sounds good. Upstairs sounds nice. Upstairs with this guy who I'll never see again. Upstairs to do one more stupid thing tonight.

"—Eve!"

I flinch as the sound of my name hits my ears. But I ignore it, closing my eyes as he presses kisses against my jaw on his way to my lips. "Upstairs," I murmur against his mouth.

"Even your name's gorgeous," the guy whispers, kissing me again. He takes my hand. "Let's go."

We start walking, lips still locked together as we stumble over our hoodies.

"Get off her!"

Someone is yanking the guy off me, interrupting our kiss. It was a nice one too, slightly more gentle than the others which were hot and deep and desperate.

I open my eyes to see Erin Davis's blue hair.

Shit.

She's pushing the guy off me, something he doesn't appreciate. My vision is still blurry as I watch her yell at him and watch him yell back. I'm clutching the counter behind me as a sudden bout of dizziness overtakes me.

"She doesn't have a problem with it!" he shouts. "Right, gorgeous?" A grin shot my way.

That's me. I'm gorgeous. Gorgeous to this guy I don't even know the name of, who has no idea who I am. Gorgeous to this guy who I'll never see again, who won't ever have the opportunity to break my heart. Gorgeous.

"She's not even sixteen!" Erin snaps. "So fuck off, okay? Before I knock you out." She cracks her knuckles menacingly, her scowl terrifying.

He sees her blazing eyes full of fury and decides it's better to walk away.

"Call me," he mouths as he walks away, hands up in the air as he sees that Erin won't back down. He grabs his hoodie and clicks his tongue at me, something that I think is supposed to be sexy so I let out a breathy giggle.

Do I even have his number? Maybe he entered it in my phone. I'm not sure.

"You are not calling him," she warns. "What the hell, Eve?"

"What the hell, Erin?" I shoot back. "I was having fun!"

"By letting a guy who you don't even know the name of touch you up? God, what if it had gone further? Did you learn nothing from my story?" She's pulling me towards the door now. "Come on, I'm taking you home."

"I'm not done." I pull away from her. "I need to find him."

My eyes begin to search for his soft brown hair and his dark shirt among the masses of drunk older people in the house.

Erin rushes forward and grabs my arm. Tight. "No you don't. Let me find my ride and I'll get you home."

She eventually finds him, a dark boy named Sal who takes one look at me and reaches for his car keys. They take me outside to Sal's car and fasten my seatbelt like I'm a fucking child before they drive off with me.

"Where does she live?" Sal asks quietly. "Near you?"

"Eve, you're still on Harness Road, right?" Erin turns.

I nod slowly. "Like you fucking care."

But maybe she does. Because she hauls me out of the car and doesn't just dump me on the doorstep. She waits until Mom answers in her fluffy dressing gown and shrieks at my state. And she doesn't leave me even though I probably ruined her sister's life.

Maybe she does care.
