We've had chicken and rice for dinner, something I actually managed to eat a proper portion of. Dave is now testing me on B1, flipping through the CGP flashcards with Allie staring at them over his shoulder.

"This is silly," Alfie announces, turning on the TV. "It's just a test."

"It's the tests," I correct. "And do you have to—"

I snatch the remote out of Alfie's hands to stop him changing the channel. The TV is currently on the news channel, BBC News Midlands to be exact. A smart looking woman with short hair and a flowery dress is speaking.

"And after the recent tragedy of a teenage schoolboy's death, the same school community is suffering yet another loss. The body of a teacher was found in his car today, still in the school car park of Dugray Grammar in his car just twenty minutes after pupils were let out. More information to follow."

They don't name the teacher, I keep watching to see if they do.

I don't register what Dave and Mum and Alfie are saying.

A teacher is dead.

The school community of Dugray Grammar suffering another loss.

Josh and Granger.

Granger and Josh.

I feel like my heart is going to stop, like I've forgotten how to breathe.

But there something more important. If Granger is dead, there is one thing the police will latch onto. Me. Me and my twisted murder deal with Eden Davis.

"Eve, are you okay?" Dave asks cautiously.

You're supposed to feel something when someone dies, aren't you? Sorrow, anger, grief. But all I feel is fear.
