《The Diggory Sister || Draco Malfoy》96 - Get Draco

Draco looked on at the scene in utter horror. Aurora was gasping, almost wailing in terror beneath him as he held her tightly to him.

Nova started stirring in her arms and panic started to tear through his chest.

"Come on Aurora," he murmured furtively, "we need to get her out of here."

"M-Mum?" She trembled, looking at the lady clinging breathlessly onto the door frame. "What have you done?"

"She was going to kill you." She panted, her eyes flashing in defiance. "I regret nothing."

"Is she... is she d-dead?" Aurora stammered.

Looking down at the body, Draco couldn't see how she could possibly not be. Nausea swooped low in his stomach at the sight of the blood pooling around the knife's entrance in Pansy's back.

As if they didn't have enough to deal with upstairs; a commotion started happening somewhere below them and his aunt's voice drifted up the stairs.

"DRACO! GET DOWN HERE - NOW!"

He exchanged looks of horror with Aurora. The last thing he wanted to do was leave her and Nova's side.

Aurora's mother staggered further into the room, breathing heavily. She looked as though she had used the last of her strength to throw that knife at Pansy.

Draco couldn't even begin to think how she escaped from the cellar. But right now, that was the least of their worries.

"Take them with you," she ordered, looking directly at Draco. "They'll be okay - there's no way they know what's happened up here. I'll deal with the body."

Draco didn't argue, helping Aurora off the bed as she clutched a still stirring Nova to her body.

"Don't look," Draco urged, trying to shield her and Nova as much as possible as they stepped around Pansy.

He could hear his aunt calling more forcefully now, wondering why he was taking his time. He nodded at Aurora's mother as they passed her, silently thanking her. But before they could get through the door, new footsteps hurried up the hall.

Draco looked up in horror to see his mother running towards them.

"Draco! What's going on? Why were you-" she paused, taking in Aurora's wide eyed terror. "Aurora? What's happened?!"

And then, before Draco could do anything to prevent it, his mother's eyes glanced over his shoulder to the scene in the bedroom behind him; at Aurora's mother standing over Pansy's dead body.

"What...?"

"Mother," Draco said hurriedly, "she tried to kill us. I refused to sleep with her and so she came at us - including our daughter! Aurora's mother... she saved us."

He could see the emotions flitting across his mother's face as she tried to take it all in.

And then, seemingly coming to a quick decision, her face set in a fierce scowl, as she started issuing orders.

"Go, downstairs to your aunt - now. Take Aurora and Nova with you, don't leave their side. I'll help Mrs Diggory deal with things up here." She swept past them into the room towards Aurora's mother, before turning back to them. "Go! Now!"

Shaking, Draco pulled Aurora out into the hallway, closing the door firmly behind them. He quickly pulled her to him, feeling her whole body trembling.

"I love you, Aurora. Never forget that." He murmured, kissing the top of her head as Nova grizzled between them.

They walked down together, with Draco leading the way and Aurora walking close behind him, clutching Nova tightly to her. His heart was hammering in his chest; he was terrified.

They turned into the drawing room to be met with a much smaller crowd than the wedding party that was there earlier. His aunt stood underneath the chandelier with what looked liked prisoners. He recognised Weasley and Granger at once.

"Sorry to interrupt your wedding night dear nephew, but we have a few visitors that need our immediate attention."

She thrust the third figure under the light; they bore an unrecognisable swollen face.

"Come, Draco," his father said, stepping up to him and beckoning him towards the prisoner, "tell us if you recognise this boy. Is this Harry Potter?!"

He felt Aurora trembling behind him. He didn't want to leave her, but he was fearful of the consequences of disobeying his aunt.

Giving Aurora a silent gesture to stay where she was, he slowly edged towards the grotesque figure. It was definitely Potter. But he knew confirming this would cause them to call Voldemort, and that was the last thing they needed right now.

So he stalled.

But unfortunately, Bellatrix started going bat shit crazy about some sword and ordered someone to take Potter and Weasley down to the cellar whilst she dealt with the Mudblood.

Wormtail stepped forward, but a sharp voice spoke up. "Halt, Wormtail! My son can escort them."

Draco turned to see that his mother had just entered the drawing room. Her face gave nothing away as she stood next to Aurora who was clutching their daughter looking petrified.

Wormtail stepped back as Draco grabbed Potter and Weasley, thrusting them roughly from the room out into the hallway, praying that his mother had some sort of plan.

Weasley was putting up a fight, shouting back for Granger. Draco was getting pissed off - he wasn't making this easy for any of them.

"For fuck's sake Weasley, I'm trying to help you!" Draco seethed, as he practically pushed him down the steps to the cellar.

"Oh yeah! It really feels that way!" Weasley snarled, falling to the ground after losing his footing.

He was relieved when his mother came bustling down behind them with Aurora in tow.

"Quick! Get in!" She cried, as Draco hurriedly unlocked the door, allowing them all to enter.

Screams could be heard from upstairs and Draco knew it was Granger being tortured by his aunt. Weasley started going bonkers, trying to escape and bellowing for her.

A terrified wail sounded from his daughter in Aurora's arms. Draco swiftly pulled Aurora to him as she tried desperately to comfort Nova.

"Quiet Weasley!" Draco hissed, "you're scaring my child!"

Ron blinked over at them as if only seeing them for the first time.

"Aurora?" He spluttered. "What are you doing here?" He suddenly looked around at the cellars other occupants: Draco's mother, Aurora's mother, Ollivander, the Lovegood girl and a goblin. "What the fuck is going on?!"

"Everyone listen to me!" His mother said, stepping forward. "I have a plan. Firstly, we need to call Dobby. Secondly, does anyone know of a safe place to hide?"

"I do," Weasley said, stepping forward. "It's-"

"Don't tell me," his mother cut in sharply, "it's not safe for me to know. I need you to take Mrs Diggory, Aurora and my grandchild there. It's imperative they get away from here, fast."

And Draco knew it was time to say goodbye again. Because he couldn't hide. Not with his Dark Mark. But his wife and daughter could be safe. And that's all that mattered.

"I'm not going anywhere without Hermione!" Weasley hollered.

Just then, Bellatrix screamed down for Draco to fetch the goblin.

"We'll tell Dobby where to take them," Potter stepped up. "I know how to call him, but you should go, now. Ron and I are going to stick around and find a way to get that sword. We can't leave without it. Or Hermione."

Draco clung Aurora to him, kissing her face, inhaling her scent. He then moved to kiss his daughter, taking her out of Aurora's arms to hug her properly.

"Daddy will see you soon, okay? I need you to look after Mummy for me." He kissed her face as she gave a little shuddering sniffle.

His mother stepped up to him, looking tearful.

"Let me say goodbye, please," She whispered, holding her hands out to Nova.

He passed her over, turning to gather Aurora tightly to him, kissing her hard.

"Draco, I don't want to leave you," she sobbed. "Not again."

"Listen to me," he said fiercely cupping her face in his hands, "You need to take our little girl and keep her safe. This is not goodbye, Aurora. I promise you. I'll never give up on you and Nova. Never."

"But what about P-Pansy?" She stammered, looking up at him with terrified wide eyes. "What's going to happen to you?"

The sounds of his aunt screaming for Draco grew more frantic.

"Your mother will explain to you later," Narcissa said, passing Nova back to Aurora, "But we must go now, Draco."

Draco did as he was told, grabbing the goblin and following his mother out. He paused at the cellar door, turning to give Aurora one last glance.

"I love you," he mouthed.

"I love you too, Draco," she wept.

And then he stepped out, locking the door behind him.
