《The Diggory Sister || Draco Malfoy》78 - Gretna Green

On Saturday 7th June 1997, just two days after our seventeenth birthday; I married Draco Malfoy.

"Are you ready?" Cho asked me as she knocked on my room on that bright, sunny morning.

Our plan was to pretend we were off into Hogsmede, just as though it was an average weekend trip. However, we made sure to leave a bit later than the others, Cho being anxious that I shouldn't break tradition by allowing Draco to see me before the ceremony.

"I honestly don't think it's possible we could get any more bad luck, even if we tried," I laughed wryly as I got Nova's things ready.

"Not today," Cho said, helping me with her bag. "Today is going to be yours and Draco's perfect day. Blaise and I will make sure you have it, even if it kills us."

So, we waited until a bit later before setting off, Nova strapped to my chest as we lumbered down the path with all our bags, looking as though we were off on holiday instead of a quick trip to the shops. We continued until we cleared the castle's enchantments and found a sheltered spot before coming to a halt.

From there, making sure no one could see us, we Apparated to Gretna Green; a small beautiful Scottish village; picturesque in it's quaintness.

"Blaise booked us a room in a bed and breakfast where we can get ready," Cho explained, leading us to a little white cottage.

I slipped on a beautiful cream lace cotton dress - simplistic but stunning at the same time. Nova had a similar style one to me, and Cho wore a wonderful deep blue flower print Chinese dress.

I followed Cho out across the road, the summer sun beating down on us as I carried Nova in my arms, walking towards an archaic white building baring beautiful stained glass windows, and one which had a country inn feel about it.

"Here," Cho said, taking Nova from my arms and handing me a small posy of white flowers. "Sweet peas; the lady from the B and B picked them for you."

"They're, beautiful, that's so kind," I said as I lifted them to my face, deeply inhaling their beautiful scent.

The door to the building opened and I looked up to see Blaise appear, looking like a model in a sharp black suit. He grinned over at us.

"He's ready," He beamed, his eyes twinkling against the sunlight. "And Aurora, he's going to be knocked out when he sees you."

"See you inside," Cho whispered in my ear, smiling brightly as she kissed the top of my head, before stepping into the building behind Blaise, Nova on her hip.

I took a deep breath as I felt my heart hammer nervously in my chest. I thought sadly about my family who weren't here; my mother who had died before I could even walk; my father who was too grief stricken to even know that Nova and I existed. And Cedric.

My wonderful, caring loving brother.

"I wish you were here, Cedric," I whispered softly, just as a small gust of wind swept past, billowing my hair across my face.

Blinking back the tears and the aching of my heart, I clutched the posy of sweet peas in my hands, and I entered the building.

It took me a moment to adjust my eyes after coming in out of the bright sunlight. I was stood in a hallway, and soft music coming from the open door to my left indicated that that was where I was to go.

I could feel myself trembling in nervous excitement as I clutched the flowers in front of me, stepping one tentative foot in front of the other.

Draco, also wearing a sharp black suit, was at the front of the room standing next to Blaise, his back to me, and his white-blond head tipped forward as if he was looking down. I wondered if he was as nervous as I felt.

Cho was stood the other side of him, with Nova gurgling in her arms who was reaching out her pudgy arms towards Draco; trying to grab her daddy's attention.

But Draco seemed to be too distracted to notice, and it wasn't until Blaise nudged him that he came to, and slowly turned around to face me, his whole face lighting up as he watched me approach him, his silver grey eyes twinkling in an immense joy.

My heart was bursting in my chest with every step I took. I couldn't stop the smile that was tugging achingly at the corners of my mouth. He was there and I was here and we were about to become husband and wife. I couldn't reach him quick enough.

My pulse rate had accelerated alarmingly by the time I stepped up beside him, allowing Cho to take the posy from my hands as I turned to face him.

"Are you okay?" He whispered, a frown creasing his brow as he noticed my trembling hands.

"I'm just so happy," I choked, tears of joy springing to my eyes as I shakily slipped my hands in his.

Relief swept over him, immediately softening his features.

"You look beautiful by the way," he murmured, giving my hands a gentle squeeze as he looked adoringly into my eyes.

The registrar, a portly little man, gave a little cough, to indicate it was time to start the proceedings.

He handed us both a declaration to sign, affirming the fact that we were both over the age of sixteen and that there was no legal reason why we couldn't be married.

And then we exchanged our vows, promising to love one another forever and always, until death do us part.

I couldn't tear my eyes from Draco's; happiness, joy and love making me feel as though I was going to float away if I didn't anchor myself down somehow.

And Draco was my anchor.

"Do you, Draco Lucius Malfoy, take this woman, Aurora Diggory, to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do," Draco murmured, smiling lovingly into my eyes.

"And do you, Aurora Diggory, take this man, Draco Lucius Malfoy, to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," I breathed, my heart fluttering in my chest as I returned Draco's smile.

Blaise handed us the rings which Draco had organised for us, my eyes never leaving Draco's as we slipped them on each other's fingers, binding us in marriage.

"And so, with the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Cho and Blaise cheered and whooped as, without hesitation, Draco pulled me to him and crashed his lips down upon mine.

My arms circled his waist and I clung to him tight as a happiness like no other flooded me.

Draco and I were married. We were untouchable.
