《The Diggory Sister || Draco Malfoy》46 - Crashing Down

The look of sheer hurt that crumpled upon Draco's face would forever haunt me until the day I die.

"Draco-" I trembled, reaching a shaking hand out to touch his arm.

But to my horror, he snapped it back away, the pain etched across his face turning into a deep, piercing fury.

"Don't you fucking touch me." He snarled dangerously, his normally pale cheeks turning puce with enraged anger.

My insides turned ice cold with fear. Without warning, Draco wheeled on the spot and went storming back towards the Great Hall.

"Draco!" I cried, following him hot at his heels.

He went straight for the Gryffindor table where Harry was still sat eating, his back to us as he chatted idly to Ron and Hermione.

"POTTER!" Draco bellowed, grabbing him from behind and dragging him up off his seat by the scruff of his robes.

Harry flailed, turning around to see who was man handling him. But before he could register his assailant, Draco had punched him hard across the cheek, a loud crack sounding the air as he sent Harry sprawling across the table, plates clattering and smashing beneath him as screams rose up in the air.

"YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A FUCKING WASTE OF SPACE AND THE SOONER YOU ARE DONE IN, THE BETTER!" Draco bellowed down at him, spit flying from his snarling mouth in fury.

I froze, watching the scene in horror, hating myself for what I'd caused.

As Harry writhed and groaned across the table, clutching his face in agony, Draco wheeled back round on the spot and stormed back towards the exit. The whole hall had fallen silent as their gaping faces stared up at him in awe.

I tried to step in his path as he neared me, but he angrily shoved me out of the way, not being able to look at me as he strode on by.

I toppled to the floor feeling hurt rip through my veins as I desperately scrambled back to my feet, trying to ignore the humiliation I felt from the enquiring eyes around me.

I raced after him, desperate to appease him in any way I could. My heart thudded frantically in my chest. I just couldn't lose him, I couldn't.

Breathlessly reaching the Entrance Hall, I called out to him just as he was about to descend the stairs down to the dungeons.

"DRACO!"

He stopped and turned to look at me, hatred rife in his steely grey eyes. "Stay away from me, Diggory," he growled, his voice cold and frightening.

"Draco, please." I begged. "I didn't want it! I was upset. I never wanted Harry, I love-"

"From now on, you are dead to me." He spat, his voice sounding unfamiliar to me. "You and me - it's over. Have a nice life with Potter."

And with that, he turned and disappeared down the stairs.

I crawled into bed that night, my heart bleeding heavily in my chest.

"He'll come around," Cho tried to reassure me, stroking my hair as I sobbed into my pillow. "He's just had a bit of a shock, that's all."

But I knew it was more than that. I had broken his heart and in turn, broken mine too.

I had nobody to blame but myself.

I reached for my moonstone, turning it over and over again in my hand, kissing it and crying heavily into my pillow.

That night I didn't sleep. For the worst that could have happened, had happened.

He just had to come around, I thought desperately to myself. Because if he didn't, I didn't know how I was ever going to get past this.

So that was a fucking waste of her time.

And she had sacrificed her Christmas to carry out her plan.

But Pansy wasn't that bothered in the end.

Because whatever had happened over Christmas - something had changed in Draco.

And for the better.

He had come storming into the common room that first night after he returned from the holidays, clearly angry about something.

Despite being startled, she didn't argue when he marched over to her and grabbed her hand, hauling her up from the sofa.

In fact, she felt giddy with happiness as Draco's lips crashed down upon hers.

Finally he had seen sense. Finally he knew the right one to be with.

If only she hadn't wasted her Christmas doing what she did.

Oh well.

It didn't matter anymore; because Pansy had gotten her prince back.

Right back to where he belonged.
