《The Diggory Sister || Draco Malfoy》3 - The Quidditch World Cup

Draco couldn't sodding believe it. He was sharing a box with bloody Potter, the Weasel and the Mudblood!

Of all the things! His father had bragged all summer about acquiring the most expensive and best seats for them, and yet there sat the Weasley's taking up pretty much the whole box with their stupid red hair.

It was just utterly ludicrous.

He found it really hard to enjoy the game. Not even the Veela cheered him up.

In fact, he barely glanced their way, instead his eyes kept boring into the back of Potter's stupid head as he pictured all sorts of different scenarios involving Potter's (hopefully) early demise.

"Oh, look - I've found the Diggory's!"

Draco's head swivelled immediately towards the Weasley girl who was looking through a pair of Omnioculars over at the stands on the far left side of the stadium.

Trying to act causal, Draco lifted his own pair, and started searching in the general direction the Weasley girl was looking towards.

He wasn't sure why he was doing this. But curiosity bit at him. Since she had crashed into him that morning, he found his mind kept wondering back to her. Aurora.

And when, he finally spotted her, sitting amongst the crowds in between her brother and father, it was as though someone had flipped a pancake inside his stomach.

He zoomed in on her face, as she watched the Veela in wonderment. He couldn't help but notice there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.

He watched as Cedric leant down to murmur something in her ear. Whatever it was, made her laugh. Draco's heart fluttered. He wanted to see her laugh again, so he played the Omnioculars back.

And again.

And again...

"Draco, you're missing the game!" His mother's voice rang out, startling him.

Draco quickly dropped the Omnioculars onto his lap, and turned his attention at once to the Irish and Bulgarian players flying about, praying the heat he could feel rising in his cheeks wasn't recognisable.

"Is she pretty?" His mother murmured quietly in his ear, a hint of a smile to her voice.

"I don't know what you're talking about, mother." He answered stiffly, wishing a hole would just swallow him up.

If Draco had been honest and open about his feelings however, he would have said to his mother that no, Aurora wasn't pretty, but in fact, the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes upon.

But instead he remained silent whilst his mother just continued to smile knowingly.

...

"That was brilliant!" I cried, laughing as Cedric piggy backed me through the tented fields from the stadium.

"That Wronski Feint!" Cedric said with complete awe in his voice, "Krum is awesome! What a legend! What a Seeker..."

Dad chuckled as he followed behind us, a green Irish hat sat wonkily atop his head. "I'm glad you kids enjoyed it, it's just a shame they don't do this every year."

"We'll make sure to do something special next summer, Dad," I grinned, looking back at him. "It can be the start of a new family tradition - The Diggory summer adventure!"

He beamed up at me, but a sadness flickered in his eyes, and I knew he was thinking about mum. "That sounds nice pet, I'd like that."

"Too right!" Cedric yelled, starting to twirl around on the spot making me giddy with laughter as I kept my hold tightly on him. "Next summer, I'll choose the adventure."

"No fair!" I cried, playfully hitting his shoulder, "I'm the youngest so I should get to choose!"

"How'd you figure that one out, Rory?" He laughed. "Surely the oldest should get to pick first."

"Now, now, kids," Dad chuckled affectionately, "let's enjoy the rest of this adventure first. And I suggest three steaming mugs of hot chocolate by the fire once we get back to the tent."

"Come on," I said, hopping down from Cedric's back, "I'll race you!"

"Hey!" He shouted, as I got in a head start and ran on, "you little cheat!"

...

The three of us huddled by the fire, listening to the sounds of the ongoing celebrations around us as we sipped hot chocolates. The Irish were going crazy.

"I'm not sure how we're going to sleep through this tonight," Dad chuckled softly, "but still, you can't blame them. It was a good game."

"My mind's buzzing too much to sleep, anyway!" Cedric sighed energetically, "I can't stop seeing all those legendary moves, I'm itching to try them out myself!"

"You're obsessed," I laughed, nudging him in the ribs, "my brother, the Seeker who beat Harry Potter!"

"Don't you start," he chortled, draping his arm over my shoulders and giving me an affectionate squeeze, "it's bad enough when Dad does it."

"Nothing wrong with being proud of my children," Dad beamed, poking the fire with his wand, breathing a bit more life into it. "Especially when I've every right to be."

I smiled back at Dad, leaning my head on Cedric's shoulder. I felt truly blessed, especially as I strongly believed that my mother was looking down upon us - with us always - protecting us from harm, and keeping us safe from evil.

...

"Rory! You need to get up - NOW!"

My eyes shot open to see my brother frantically tossing clothes at me.

"Ced? What...?" I said sleepily, my mind hellishly confused.

"Come on!"

Throwing my clothes on as quick as I could, I hurried out the tent where Cedric was waiting anxiously for me. I looked around horrified by the sight surrounding us.

People were screaming, and running - running in the direction of the trees behind the field. But it was what they were running from which was truly terrifying - a large group of black cloaked figures were marching sinisterly towards us, trampling tents and setting fire to everything in their wake. Above them, a family of Muggles had been levitated in the air - including two children - all four of them looking terrified as they were flipped around and around against their will.

"Ced! We've got to help them!" I cried, frozen on the spot with horror, a violent sick feeling swooping low in my stomach at this terrifying sight.

"No, Rory - we've got to get you to safety!" Cedric bellowed, tugging at my arm. "They're Death Eaters!"

"No!" I gasped. Panic gripped at my insides, as fear made my blood run cold. There was a sudden roaring in my head, and I couldn't think straight anymore. Not Death Eaters.

Anything but that.
