《Tour Guide | Steve Rogers ✓》Chapter Twenty

"Drop to 2600, heading 0-3-0."
"I hope you're right about this, Cap. Or we're gonna land a lot faster than you to." Sam sighed looking out of the front window at the trees of the forest heading straight towards the Quinjet.
Quinn Greene braced herself for impact but the jet soon emerged on the other side of a camouflaged force field revealing Wakanda and its surrounds.
Although Quinn had heard about Wakanda from both Steve and Aquila nothing could prepare her for the stunning view as the Quinjet touched down on Wakandan soil.
Quinn disembarked the Quinjet, looking around in amazement before finally settling on the King and his troops that had gathered to greet them. She walked forward slightly, falling in line with Aquila and Natasha as Steve stepped forward to shake the King's hand.
"Should we bow?" Bruce asked Rhodey concerned. Quinn could only share a smile with Aquila who was also trying to conceal her own smirk.
"Yeah, he's a king."
"Seems like I'm always thanking you for something," Steve said, as Bruce bowed awkwardly in the background.
"Honestly, Bruce. What on earth are you doing?" Aquila teased in mock shock.
"Uh, we don't do that here," T'Challa said while Bruce could only shoot both Rhodey and Aquila a betrayed look as everyone else hid their smiles. "So how big of an assault can we expect?"
"Uh, sir, I think you can expect quite a big assault."
"How we looking?" Natasha asked.
"You will have my Kingsguard, the Border Tribe, the Dora Milaje, and. . ." The King gestures to the people gathered around him.
"A semi-stable, 100-year-old man." Bucky Barnes said as he walked up to join the larger group.

Quinn could only smile, Bucky was already looking a lot happier than the last time she had seen him.
"How you been, Buck?" Steve asked, sharing a hug with his best friend.
"Uh, no bad, for the end of the world," Bucky replied with a shrug before his eyes landed on Quinn. "I don't quite think we've ever been properly introduced, but you must be Quinn."
"Yeah, that would be me," Quinn replied, shaking Bucky's hand.
"It's nice to finally properly meet you. I remember seeing you under the overpass a few years ago but that's about it."
"Yes, of course," Quinn replied. "You don't happen to remember a visit to the Smithsonian a few years ago, do you?"
"Yeah. . ." Bucky trailed off unsure before it hit him. "Oh, Steve told me all about you being a Tour Guide, that wasn't all of course though."
"Tell me about it. He can never shut up about her." Sam chimed in with an eye roll.
"Oh drop it," Steve replied dramatically, Sam and Bucky only cackling at his discomfort.
The team soon gathered around Shuri, King T'Challa's younger sister in what looked like her lab who scanned over Vision's body, projecting a hologram of the stone in her palm.
"Whoa. The structure is polymorphic."
"Right, we had to attach each neuron non-sequentially," Bruce explained.
"Why didn't you just reprogram the synapses to work collectively?" Shuri asked.
"Yeah, Bruce." Keira chimed in. "Why didn't you do that?"
"Because we didn't think of it."
"I'm sure you did your best."
"Can you do it?" Wanda asked, worry filling her features.
"Yes, but there are more than two trillion neurons here. One misalignment could cause a cascade of circuit failures." Shuri said before turning to her brother. "It will take time, brother."

"How long do you think it will take?" Quinn asked.
"As long as you can give me," Shuri replied.
"Something's entered the atmosphere." The general of the Dora Milaje announced.
"Hey, Cap, we got a situation here." Sam's voice came over the comms soon after.
Everyone's heads suddenly snapped to the window as everyone could only watch in shock as debris from the three ships landing ricocheted off the dome surrounding Wakanda.
"It's too late." Vision groaned as he struggled to lift himself up. "We need to destroy the stone now."
"Vision, get your ass back on the table." Nat ordered.
"We will hold them off," T'Challa said as he started for the door, his troops following him.
"Wanda, as soon as the stone's out of his head. . . you blow it to hell." Steve said to Wanda.
"I will," Wanda replied, sharing a look with Steve.
Quinn breathed out a deep sigh, calming her nerves as she watched everyone prepare to battle whatever was outside the dome.
"Quinn," Steve called, heading straight towards the blonde. "Do you think you can stay up here with Wanda?"
"I'm coming with the rest of you down there," Quinn replied defiantly.
"No, you can't. Please, just stay up here."
"Steve, I know I don't that same amount of experience as the rest of you but I can handle myself down there, trust me."
"Quinn, I can't protect you down there, if something happened. . ." Steve trailed off unable to finish his sentence.
"Nothing is going to go wrong. It's all going to turn out fine, and we are all going to stop Thanos together, just like I said on the Quinjet."
"Quinn, please," Steve begged, worry evident in his features.
"Steve, let me go. It's dangerous down there, I know but I can handle this. Nothing is going to happen."
Steve could only look at Quinn, the dilemma of forcing her to stay or let her go was clear in his eyes as he ran a hand worriedly through his hair.
"Fine, just please stay safe. I can't let anything happen to you."
"And it won't," Quinn replied with a reassuring smile.
Quinn watched nervously as Steve, Natasha, Aquila and T'Challa returned back to their positions with the rest of the troops gathered after a brief talk with part of Thanos' troops.
"Did they surrender?" Bucky asked.
"Not exactly," Steve replied, standing next to Quinn as thousands of alien creatures bounded towards the barrier.
"What the hell."
"My thought exactly. I think we may have pissed her off. " Aquila said before she transformed, flying up to patrol above with Sam and Rhodey.
Quinn could only watch in horror as the bizarre alien creatures threw themselves at the barrier, killing themselves in the process.
"You see the teeth on those things?" Sam asked over comms.
"Alright, back up, Sam, Aquila. You're both gonna get your wings singed." Rhodey replied before dropping mines on the aliens.
"Ah, noted."
"Cap, if these things circle the perimeter and get in behind us. . . there's nothing between them and Vision." Bruce said over his own comms, gesturing where the aliens were searching for another entrance.
"Then we better keep 'em in front of us."
"How do we do that?" Okoye asked, turning to T'Challa.
"We open the barrier. On my signal, open North-West Section Seventeen."
"This will be the end of Wakanda."
"Then it will be the noblest ending in history."

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
