《Loved Like a Psycho》16: Anything for you

Avneet's POV
Another off day, off days in hostels aren't fun they are boring, I didn't disturb Siddharth he was studying something but my endurance level of boredom broke. I mean my exams just ended and I have nothing else to do. Yes it was a week after my birthday.
"Siddharth I am bored" I complained, I was lying on the couch on my belly, my feet were facing the ceiling and my head was on my hands
"Huh? Oh bored" He said as he started closing his books "So what do I do for you?" he asked snapping at me.
"I wanna go out" I said, this guy is the cutest!
"Where?" He asked with a small smile, the kind of smile which was reserved only for me, the kind of smile which melted my heart whenever he shot me that smile.
"Umm lets go to your house, we can meet your mom too" I halted I did that mostly because he made my birthday so special. It's a small reward for that, besides I did nothing for a WEEK!
"Why do you wanna visit my home? I thought you .." He trailed off, his eye brows were furrowed.
"No I mean there must be good places around, first we'll roam your house then you can take me to other places" I said trying to make him less shocked.
"Okay get ready then" He said obediently nodding at me.
I popped off the couch and shuffled through my clothes, I decided to wear a simple yellow flared hem top and dark blue jeans. I took them with me, inside the washroom and changed. I came out and saw Siddharth talking to someone, maybe the nurse.
"So ready?" he snapped at me and scanned me fully. I was standing on the dresser combing my curled hair. He kept staring with a ghost of smile on his face.
"Hey?" I snapped and he got out of the trance.
"Yeah let's go" He nodded and we got out of the room locking it and started walking out of the dorms and then campus finally we reached the exit where he had his bike parked, he started it and gestured me to sit. I hopped down behind him and caged him with my legs and arms, he chuckled.
"As much as I'd like you to keep you legs just where they are, they are disturbing me so..." I heard him. I giggled and let him go.
We reached that mansion he calls suffocating, and entered, walking over those expensive tiles, I examined the house. It had sophisticated wallpapers and paint, chandelier and expensive furniture fully complementing each other. There were showpieces those seemed pretty expensive too in a nut shell they were bloody rich people. If I were a gold digger i would have sold myself to him but I am not.
We entered his mom's room he slid through the bed and knelt down, he sat there holding his mom's hand firmly. He was on the verge of crying but he somehow stopped himself from being week in front of her or breaking down. He kissed her hand and a tear drop fell from his right eye as he pressed closing his eyes. I sat down beside him.
"She doesn't remember me" Came his croaked voice, tears were stuck in his throat.
"It's okay Siddharth" I ran my hands on his back consoling him.
"Why do everyone I love leaves me all alone, why do they leave me even when I love them with all of what I have?" He at last broke down, he started sobbing and shaking.

I just stayed there consoling this broken soul. He was tough outside but when you get to know him he was fragile just like a thin sheet of glass. It felt like he could break with one touch.
"She left me like that when I was ten. It would have never mattered to me even if she was fully mad, insane but this, her not remembering me feels grave" He said in between his sobs, he clutched onto me while crying in crook of my neck. I didn't replied I couldn't actually.
After a few minutes of crying so violently he pulled away and looked at his mother. He ran his hand over his mothers head caressing her hair, he kissed her and sat on the bed beside her head. He kept caressing her hair. I stood up and stood there looking at him.
"You wanted to meet her? She is not really a person someone normal can meet" Siddharth chuckled humorlessly and congratulations Avneet Kaur he thinks of himself a psycho just because of you. Dang I should have known about him before spilling all those words against him.
Never judge a book by it's cover I say. NEVER.
I opened my mouth to say something soothing but I didn't get a chance because Radhika Nigam had suddenly woken up. I saw Siddharth tense up. She gasped as she sat straight and pushed him away, chanting no's. Siddharth got off the bed and stood away from her waiting for the nurse. His head hung low while tears were leaking from his eyes. His mother was getting worse, she was screaming and shouting. Where the hell was nurse? I had to do something so I sat down beside her.
"Don't don't don't come near me, don't " she screamed her voice looked drenched, she seemed insane, sick and what not. I slowly and gradually approached her, she was chickening away from me but I had to do this. Do this for Siddharth.
"It's okay I am here, see he is not doing anything, he is good" I smiled at her assuring her. Out of the corner of my eye I could see a stunned Siddharth
"No no.." She was calming down. Her eyes shifted from me to Siddharth, she pulled me close and hid behind me, I turned and hugged her.
"He won't do anything to you, trust me" I said, she shook her head no while still hugging me like a baby. I gestured Siddharth to slowly come, her grip on me tightened and her shoulder tensed. I kept my hand on hers and used my other hand to sooth her.
"See he is not harming you, he will help you" I said, I looked at Siddharth his eyes were filled with hope as he slowly approached us and sat beside me.
"He is goo- go- good?" She asked while shaking, I broke the hug and pulled away, her hand was in mine.
"Very good" I confirmed as I took his hand in my other, she looked at our hands with horror.
"He doesn't hurt?" Asked Radhika, shifting her eyes from mine and Siddharth's intertwined hands to hers and mine.
"Absolutely not" I said with a smile and looked at her, I looked at Siddharth. He was burning in anticipation to hug his mother, touch her and receive love and admiration from her. Radhika though, was still squeezing her shoulders staring at Siddharth. I brought their hands closer and left Siddharth's hand in hers. Siddharth broke down. He started crying while kissing her hand over and over placing it on his eyes. She was starting to feel good around him, she reached her hand to his face to wipe his tears.

"Why is he crying?" She asked me
"Those are happy tears mom" I said, Siddharth's head snapped at me, he had an unknown amount of happiness and love towards me. It seemed like he couldn't believe his ears.
"Mom?" She asked and I nodded "Call me mom I like that name" She said to Siddharth. He cupped her cheeks caressed her skin with unknown amount of happiness, he had a genuine smile plastered again.
"Mom" he let out a sob. Radhika smiled at him and he hugged her, he was sobbing uncontrollably. I felt my own eyes get teary. I wiped them and looked away when I felt him hold my wrist and pull me. Soon I was also engulfed in the hug.
The nurse came running chanting 'sorry's' she was stunned to look at the scenario before her. She smiled at us and asked us to leave.
"Will he come back roo?" Asked Radhika from Roopa the nurse pointing at Siddharth hopefully.
"Yes he will, right Siddharth?" Roopa asked looking at Siddharth. He of course nodded eagerly, we left the room. As soon as I closed the door I was lifted off my feet. He was hugging me.
"Thanks Angel, Thank you so much, I owe you my everything, she wasn't scared of me, she was okay in front of me after so many years, I can't tell you how happy I am, thank you Angel" He twirled me around and I giggled.
"Welcome" I said once he let me down, he smiled at me "Now show me around first your room"
"Okay, lets go" He said and we walked to his room. It was depressing there, it had faded grey walls, white tiles a single bed. It wasn't that overly organized like other rooms, it barely had any stuff to decorate. It was blank, it seemed like someone died there. Oh yes his sanity and happiness did.
"I know it's depressing " He said sitting on the bed.
"Hmm but why?" I asked as I looked around at the grey curtains.
"Ask Vrushali why" he said with a scoff
"Oh" I sighed and walked to the bookshelf that had few books, few trophies. Over the shelves were small, few paintings on small canvases. It also had a big trophy just beside it.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Nothing much. Ah you made the paints?" I asked pointing at that abstract art.
"No mom used to" he said sighing. How many sighs he is going to take? It hurts me stop. I thought with a pout.
"Oh" I said as I observed those beautiful paintings.
"Let's get out of here, its quite depressing" he said as he started to walk toward the door. I followed him out we were walking through the corridor toward the staircase that reaches the roof. While walking I noticed a door with a big R carved over it, fully designed maybe Ritika's room. We reached the roof it had plants but dead. He climbed the railing and started walking on it. What the hell is wrong with him???
"Get down" I ordered I was scared to death, I felt like grabbing him and pulling him down. He chuckled
"Chill I am experienced " he said continuing his walk.
"Siddharth get down, what if you fall?" I said why am I being so worried?
"Why do you care?" he asked after a pause.
"What?" I frowned.
"I mean no one really cares. I bet no one, leave Vrushali not even my dad would care if I die, I mean he didn't even care when I .." He trailed off, clicked his tongue and dismissed the topic.
"When you?" I asked .
"Leave all that" he ignored and got down . I didn't ask him anything after that, I roamed around the roof.
"Hey whose roller skates are those" I hopped to him with a old, dusty and rusty pair of roller skates. That I found at one corner.
"Mine" He said dully, he was leaning over the railing now.
"So you know how to ride them" I asked enthusiastically
"Yeah I mean i used to learn but left so you see not perfectly" he said dully.
"Why did you leave? What happened?" I asked as I eyed the skates.
"Vrushali happened" He chuckled humorlessly. Ah that chuckle hurts badly, he needs to stop that. I left the shoes and walked around the roof. I found a wall, it was painted with spray paints, it had pictures of flowers, cricket bat, ball, football in short, filled with doodles.
"Siddharth" I called him he came and stood beside me "Who drew these?"
"Mom used to and I used to accompany mom, we used to spend hours sitting and painting our walls" He smile brightly but it vanished in the next moment .
"Oh she is so awesome" I squealed examining the wall, I trailed my hand on it tracing every curve and line "Okay now you have to show me other places outside let's go" I hurried him
"Hm hm lets go" He agreed and I kind of pushed him out of there. We were giggling while walking as the topic of Bhavesh proposing came, he told me how stupid he was. And how really scared he was.
"Hi Siddharth" Vrushali said in that sugar coated tone. Bitch can I slap you?
"What?" he spat
"Spend some time with us Siddharth, why are you leaving like that?" She asked. His dad walked out of the room at that time, he eyed me up and down probably judging me.
"Sure, so that you can make me feel like hell again. Thank you but no I don't want to" His voice filled with anger, boy he had anger issues but I ain't blaming him it's that bitch Vrushali.
"Siddharth talk to your mom properly" his father glared at him. Siddharth scoffed as he turned to his dad
"First she is your second of wife not my mother and about talking to her nicely, sorry but she doesn't deserve that respect" he raged at his father clenching his fist, I placed my hand on his clenched fist to calm him down.
"Siddharth she just wants your good, at least talk to her politely in front of a guest" His father had lost all control and was shouting.
"Yeah sure even you know, what she did. She forced me to take .. Let's go Avneet" He again did not complete as his eyes fell on me. He dragged me out of the mansion. What was he hiding? What did he take? What was he talking about?
"Where do you wanna go?" He asked composing himself.
"I don't know" I replied I was not thinking straight
"Hmm there is a park here, wanna go?" He asked.
"Sure " I smiled brightly
"Okay It's a walking distance so let's go" he advised and we started walking. Soon we reached the park and entered it. It was really awesome, it had kids playing on one side, elders jogging and exercising on one side and some doing their laughing yoga.
He took me to one corner that place was filled with stones few small few big. I stood on one of them and enjoyed the view for few minutes he stared at me, his admirable eyes gazing me .
I saw the swing freed and ran toward there taking the place. He started swinging me. I was laughing and giggling badly enjoying this after a long time. I saw Siddharth staring at me. Okay so someone can be that happy watching others happy and I am leaving this guy, I am great clap for me bitches clap! He stopped suddenly.
"Now we need to go" he advised more like a order "Okay" I said and got down, I walked with him to his home again. We rode the bike and reached the college. We entered the college and walked to our room. He sat there on the bed. He looked happy. Perfect time to ask him anything. I kneeled down in front of him he was confused, I took his hands in mine.
"Siddharth" I stared nervously "What were you talking about?" I asked "What did you take ?"
"Huh?No nothing you don't need to know Angel" he said and looked away.
"I need to. Tell me" I forced.
"I said no" he said coldly. I lost my control maybe all these days he treated me so well that anyone talking to me like that made me crazy even if it's him.
"I want to know, tell me. Or else?" I glared at him yelling hard.
"Angel please, i really don't wanna share" he pleaded I jerked his hand away and stood up. Okay I was being a brat.
"No I want to know. Tell me" I said stubbornly.
"I said no" He yelled at me as he lost his control. I was one step ahead I slammed the door as I walked away. I stomped every step as I walked out of the dorms entering the canteen. He was just behind me running badly as he called my name. I was enjoying. I didn't respond, what? I wanted some fun
"AVNEET!" I heard him call then in blink of eye I was pushed aside to the ground hurting my knees badly. I heard glass shatter and my hands cutting on the tiny pieces. Shattered glass around me, I was numb for a second but then I looked back and gasped. The scene before me was ready to suck out any breath left with in the premises of my body. I saw Siddharth's unconscious body lying there. Blood oozing out of his hair and his right arm, which he used to push me out of way, had many cuts it was all bloody. My breath hitched, everything around me froze I was numb I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't hear anything. I couldn't make sense out of anything.
This guy is constantly doing mad stuffs for me. He did that to save me. My heart stopped beating for a moment. Everyone ran to him, Bhavesh called an ambulance. Jannat and Ritika were hastily removing bigger pieces from his skin. Lucky, Arishfa and Manjul were stopping blood.
"SIDDHARTH!" I ran to him finally regaining my senses, I fell on my knees besides him. I could hear people rushing and murmuring things but I could care less. Some pieces of glass penetrated my knees hurting me badly but this wasn't time to care about my knees. I took off my scarf and tightly wrapped around his head, stopping the bleeding. I hugged him while crying and waiting for ambulance. Jannat and Ritika kept consoling me.
The ambulance arrived and we got him in. I was continuously sitting beside him. Holding his hand in mine and crying, his eyes opened and he looked at me.
"Angel don't cry I can't see your tears" He said weakly. I shushed him by placing my finger on his lips, he simply smiled and kissed the finger. We reached the hospital and he was taken to the emergency room. We waited for a while, I couldn't control my tears, I was shaking while waiting for the doctors to come out of there. Ritika was also shaking violently, manjul was consoling her. Arishfa was hugged by Lucky and Jannat by Bhavesh.
Soon my girls arrived too and they sat with me, I broke down for nth time in front of them. They told me he was going to be okay, what are you kidding me! He has to be okay! He can't leave me like that!
Hehe hehehe

8 421The Saga of Armageddon: The Call of Crows
Bjorn Stormtamer's world has been turned upside down in more ways than one. His shipmates have left him for dead on an island for quarantining victims of a disease that he now has. His partner in battle despises him, his family thinks he's dead and everyone else thinks it was good riddance. Moreover, the world is under attack by a virulent plague that kills with light and an empire from the east whose intentions are unknown but whose methods are merciless and bloodthirsty. Little does he know that the world itself is nearly on the brink of cosmic collapse. But when a bold, charismatic woman from another nation seeks him out, Bjorn discovers that the plague he has was not a plague at all, but a trial. A trial to determine who is worthy to wield the power of gods in order to give humanity a fighting chance against the winds of fate. This novel was written 2 years ago and isn't exactly my best work. I'm still improving my skills, but I encourage you to enjoy it for what it's worth. ALSO, the whole plague thing was written about before the COVID pandemic. The plague is fake and actually magic in the story, but that has NOTHING to do with real world events. I am under NO CIRCUMSTANCE trying to make ANY kind of statement with it. Please just enjoy the story and stay safe.

8 157Rimward Bound
Every citizen of the sky-cities of His Majesty's Star-Empire knows that a ship, both sky- and star-, is more then just a few bits of metal. It is the grand sum of it's hull and the crew that sail it. 'Hulls of battle-steel and men to match!' That's what the Navy's recruitment poster's claim at least. Every sailor knows that there is one more component that the city-bound folk ignore at their own peril: the soul of the ship. That it takes both man and hull to make a true ship, and that neither alone serve well or for long. In 8225 Lord Jeffrye Saltonstall the Fourth, Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps, demands semi-automated ships to 'reduce the loss of life among our brave crews', manages to convince the other politicians and bureaucrats to fund them, and gets the Office of Ship Construction to sign off on the ships as structurally sound. Dockyard workers shake their heads at the ships, muttering that they are cursed from birth, even as construction drags on. In 8230 the Explorer, first of her class, is launched. She sets out in 8233 to great fanfare on a trip expected to last six months. Neither she nor her twelve-person crew is ever heard from again. By 8235, the remaining seven Explorers are are commissioned. Lord Saltonstall managed to find crews for six of them but at the cost of mass resignations. The Night Horse, last of the Explorer class, sat in reserve as her sister-ships served well enough despite ill luck and misfortune. The Office of Ship Construction quietly issues notice that no more semi-automated ships are to be built and that all active Semi-automated ships are to be quietly retired and broken up for scrap over the next ten years. The Night Horse, sitting in reserve, is missed due to bureaucratic oversight. In 8250 Lord Ayland Wynstryngham the Eighth assumes the office of Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps. His first act is to issue notice that no ship is to be without crew nor sit in dock or reserve for longer then required for maintenance and upkeep. The Night Horse, all but forgotten, is quietly brought back into active service. Recruiting a crew for her proves another matter entirely. What poor or desperate fool would willingly sign on to crew, much less command, a cursed ship and spend months or years in deep space? Well, you would, of course. Where else is a kid from the gutters going to find that kind of freedom in the service of His Majesty? A [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] 2021.
