Jonah had just gotten home from work when he saw Mindy walking towards the family room. He immediately follows her, his hands desperate to feel her after a long day of work. When he was close enough he pulls her in for a hug only to let her go in shock when he sees her parents sitting across from his mother. His mind was racing wild. They weren't supposed to be here. He had just schedule a meeting with her parents for the weekend he thought.

It seems like time has stop while Jonah debate his options. He can probably make up something and hold it off until the weekend. But as he stares at the smile on his mother's face and her parents and then the horror on Mindy's, he knew this was the end. The lie is about to be expose and there is nothing he can do about it.

"Mom, dad what are you doing here?" Mindy's feet were thinking faster than her brain. She dashes to Nina and protectively shield her body with her own dropping her bag on the couch. She holds on to Nina's arm hoping that it wasn't too late to control Nina's emotion.

"Mom are you okay?" she directed her question at Nina her back was turned to her parents.

"Yes darling I am." Nina smiled at her. "Are you okay?"

Mindy stared at her mother-in-law confused. This wasn't the reaction she expected from her. Before Mindy can say anything, Nina cuts her off.

"Darling, how come you never told me that your parents were Bruce and Grace?" She faked hurt.

"I..uh..." Mindy looks at Jonah who hasn't moved from his previous spot by the entrance his eyes were cast elsewhere like he isn't even in the same room. "What is going on here? Why are these people..."

"Yes hun, I'm shocked that neither you or Jonah told Nina." Her mother said causing her to turn to look at her parents who look just as normal as ever too. "I knew something was up when Nina didn't contact me right away that our kids were married."

"That's right because you know I would have called you first to plan a grand wedding." Nina jumps.

"They know each other? So Jonah's mom knew my mother but still slept with her husband, my dad. Oh my gosh." Mindy's thoughts were driving her mad and angered exploded through her. "What the hell is this sick family?"

Her breathing became heavy.

"Honey are you alright?" Bruce said seeing his daughter's discomfort. He walks towards her grabbing her at her arms but she pushes his away.

"Don't touch me." She pants.

"What's wrong?" both of her mother said, all attention on her now.

Snapping out of whatever trance it was that Jonah was in, he realizes what is about to happen and rushes towards his wife.

"Baby are you alright?" he asked worried. He wraps an arm around her back holding her steady.

Mindy welcomed his touch, and lean slightly against him. Thank god he was there she thought, or else she would really have lost it. Closing her eyes for a second she takes a few deep breaths.

"Mindy maybe you should just go rest..." Jonah started.

"No Jonah." She looked him in the eyes. Jonah understood exactly what she wanted with just those two words. She didn't know if it was just her imagination but she thought she felt his arm stiffen around her waist.

Looking at the three people in front of her, she found the courage in her to speak. Letting go of Jonah she takes a steps towards her parents.

"So you all already know each other?" she asked no one in particular. Her expression was blank.

"That we do for a long time now." Her father cheerily said smiling at Nina. She didn't miss that smile and Nina's smile as well. "I can't believe they are doing this out in the open! Doesn't she hate my father? And my mother, she doesn't even seem to notice?"

"Yes hun, we've known Nina for a long time now and her late husband. We were all school mates in college!" Grace announced. "You cannot imagine how happy your father and I was when we found out you were married to no other than Jonah."

"Ha ha ha!" Mindy sarcastically laughed. "What lies are you guys spilling?!" she couldn't control her anger anymore. "School mates? When I came over and told you guys I was married to Jonah, you guys barely flinched a muscle or said anything about knowing Nina. All of a sudden you guys are best friends!?"

"Mindy," Jonah grabs her from behind. "Please you need to calm down. Don't do this."

"No Jonah." She looked at her husband once again with a pained expression. "I can't live this lie anymore!"

"What in the world is she talking about?" Bruce said.

"Everyone who shouldn't be in here leave now!" Jonah's command is loud and clear.

Agatha, and the rest of her maids, even Dexter, who were all in the room ready to serve the family, swiftly scuttle out of the room.

Mindy waited for everyone to clear the room before continuing. "Yes dad. Lies! I'm tired of them. So you just come clean now!"

"Honey I have no clue what you are talking about." Bruce who was really clueless defended himself.

"Babe, let's go to our room and I will explain everything to you." Jonah tries once more to persuade her.

"No, this is something that those two need to do." She pointed in the direction of her father and Nina. She was so disappointed in Nina because this whole time she thought she was a victim but Nina knew her father was married. So the real victims here were her mother, Jonah and herself.

"Fine fine fine!" Bruce said. "Sorry Jonah but I'm going to have to tell her." Jonah stared at him confused. He didn't know what Bruce was talking about, tell her what?

"Your mother and I already knew about your marriage to Jonah before you came and told us. Jonah had already come to us weeks before you did to ask your hand in marriage. And we agreed, that's why we weren't so surprised." Bruce confessed.

"Yeah baby sorry about that." Grace added. "I know you wanted to be the first to tell us but Jonah did the right thing so don't be mad at him."

Nina laughed loudly. "Aw darling is that why you are upset?"

"What?" Mindy had to admit she was shocked at this little discovery but it was nothing compared to what had been going on. She will deal with Jonah later.

Throwing Jonah an evil look, she continues. "Cut this nonsense out! You guys really think this is what this is all about? Dad, Nina! You guys have nothing to say for yourself! Mom ask dad what they have been doing secretly behind your back?"

"Mindy, darling what is all this about? Behind my back?" Nina was a little worried about all this her daughter was talking about.

"Dad didn't you make visits to Nina while she was in the hospital. Why huh?"

"Honey that's because we are friends, and I was worried about her. Your mother knew about those visits you know. You are taking this out of proportion." Bruce reassured her. He didn't know what it was that got his daughter so upset but he didn't like her thinking one bit.

Grace awkwardly laugh trying to break the tension in the room.

"Mindy – " Jonah started.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is did you and Nina FUCKED!" Mindy finally snapped.

She didn't know what it was that made her shout it and in such a disrespectful way. Whether it was all the lies, her parents playing dumb, or just her emotional state from being pregnant but she said it.

"Mindy Ivory Young!" Bruce smacks his daughter right across the face for the first time ever.

A sharp sting erupts from her face and tears spill from her eyes. Jonah catches Mindy in his arms before she can fall down. This was the last straw. Jonah knew he had to come clean. His lies had led to his wife being slapped by her own father.

"Bruce!" Grace gasped. She pulls her husband back and immediately runs over to her daughter.

"Oh god are you okay?" she said grabbing her arms.

"I fucken hate you." Mindy whispered.

"No honey you don't hate your father. It was a mistake he didn't mean too."

Just as Jonah was about to open his mouth his mother did. "Stop this everyone!" Nina suddenly shouts. Everyone turns to look at her. "May I speak with you alone Mindy?"

Mindy's tear filled eyes stares intently at Nina. She didn't know what to say so she just nods her head. Nina takes her by the hand and leads her out of the family room to her bedroom.

Bruce was still standing there staring at his shaky right hand.

"Mr. and Mrs. Young. I have a confession to make." Jonah says.

Mindy sat on Nina's bed as she went into her closet to dig out something. Nina returns with an old brown small treasure chest setting it right in between her and Mindy. Mindy couldn't bring herself to speak so she just stares at the chest.

"I think I know what this is about." Nina begins. "I don't know where you heard it from or how you found out, I'm taking a wild guess that it was my son," she chuckles, "but there is something you must know, or rather see."

Nina starts so pull out pictures from the chest and hands them over to Mindy. She looks through them slowly, her eyes slightly widen wondering who's the man with Nina and why are they so intimate in the photos, even more than those of her father and Nina.

"Who is this man?" Mindy asked looking at Nina.

"As you suspected your father. This man was the man that broke my heart." She smiles lightly but her eyes tell a painful story. "This was the man, no I shouldn't call him that, dog that I fell madly in love with a couple of years ago. Who cheated me and left me insane. The reason I was in the mental institution was because of him."

Mindy's grip on the photos tighten and she bites at her bottom lip.

"Mindy it wasn't your father that did this to me." She took Mindy's hands in hers. "As we mentioned before, we all went to college together and have been friends ever since although we don't see each other often enough. Your father was always a great friend of mine. He said he's thankful to me because I was the one that introduced your parents, so that was why when I was going through my toughest time, your father was always there for me. Whenever I needed a friend to talk to, he was always there to comfort me. He'd give me advice to leave that damn dog, but I wouldn't listen. At the end, I ended up a crazy woman but your father never stopped supporting and would even visit me often in the hospital."

Mindy could not believe what she was hearing. So they were telling the truth just minutes ago. But then what does that mean to her then? That this whole time she was suspecting her father when it wasn't him. That her father was innocent all along. And she accused him of adultery and her mother-in-law. She thinks about the photos that Jonah showed her of her father and Nina, now that she thinks about it, yes it could have been just something as simple as her father comforting Nina.

"Jonah..." she barely whispered. He couldn't...possibly lie to me...

"Look, I'm sure there is a good reason why Jonah suspected your father darling."

But Mindy didn't hear any of it. She was up dashing out the room. She had to get back. She had to get some answers.

"You did what!" Bruce was so angry he did the only thing a father would do at this moment. He punched Jonah square in the face. Not giving him a change to regain his composure, he grabs his collard and punch him again.

"I'm going to murder you today!"

"Bruce stop!" Grace shouts. She tries to pry her husband off of Jonah but fail miserably as Bruce continue to beat on Jonah. Jonah though, showed no sign of fighting back or resistance. He knew that he deserves every beating.

"Because of him I slapped my own daughter!" Bruce roared angry but he was hurt. He knew the moment he laid his hand on his daughter's face, he had broken her heart. He saw the pain in her eyes and heard the words that she spoke.

Bruce finally backed off of Jonah's body and fell to the floor. He sat there and let his silent tears fall. Grace fell to her knees next to her husband and wraps her arm around him.

"She doesn't hate you Bruce and you know that." Grace softly speak.

Jonah gets up from the ground into a sitting position too. He spits blood from his mouth and wipes away with his sleeves before speaking.

"I'm sorry, I found out the truth a long time ago but didn't tell her. I'm sorry I didn't admit the truth to you guys right away. I just didn't know how to. I couldn't tell her because I already lo – "

"So you already knew the truth?" Mindy stalks towards him. She arrived outside the family room and was about to enter when she heard Jonah's voice saying he knew the truth but didn't tell her. She wanted to scream. Her heart beat rapidly and she just couldn't listen anymore.

Jonah immediately stands up. Mindy had to control her emotion seeing Jonah beaten up like that, she just wants to run to him and help him and throw her arms around him. Her eyes shift to her parents who also had stand up. She can see the blood on her dad's knuckles and that immediately confirms her thoughts. If her father beat Jonah, it was because he had lie to her, lie to them all. She looks her father in the eyes and her heart broke for who knows how many times today already. She saw his tear stain face and the look of regret in his eyes. Her heart tugs at her immensely and she had to quickly shift her gaze to Jonah.

"Can we be alone?" she said her eyes never leaving Jonah. Grace pulls at her husband's arm and Bruce reluctantly follows.

"Answer me. You knew it wasn't my father but this whole time you but made me believe that it was him. Why?"

"Mindy..." he steps towards her.

"Don't come close to me!" she snaps taking a step back.

He stops in his tracks. "I'm sorry."

"So then it's true. All this happen because of you!"

"Mindy listen. In the beginning I honestly thought it was your father that's why I...kidnapped you. It wasn't until later that I found out it wasn't him."

"When did you find out?"

"When we were still back at Serene, right before we got married." He admitted. He looks to his wife, her small body shaking, and tears falling down her lovely face. He wanted nothing more than to embrace her in his arms.

"So you had months to tell me that you made a dumb mistake, but instead you had me continue to believe that my father was an evil bastard when really you are! Earlier when I was going insane you couldn't stop me and tell the fucken truth before I shout out that my father and your mother fucked! I can't even face my parents now cuz I'm fucken embarrassed! I even told my father I hated him and meant it you asshole!" Mindy choked. All the emotions she was holding in flooded out. She cried hysterically.

Jonah couldn't stop himself. He pulls her into his arm and held her but she immediately pushes against him.

"Let go of me! Don't touch me you disgusting jerk!" she shoves him away from her before slapping him right across the face on his already bruised and cut skin. He didn't complain about the pain at all though.

"You took away my life. My dream job. Everything! You made me a slave! Made me believe that I deserved all the torture. You made me married you when I didn't have to." She wipes at her tears.

"You even made me love you...." She cried.

"Yes my dumb self fell for you even when I knew this marriage was nothing but convenience for you." She laughed at herself. Oh god maybe she was going crazy she thought. She picks up her bag that she dropped on the couch and turn to leave but stops. "Let me ask you. Was anything about us real? Did you ever love me? Even just a little."

There was nothing but silence. She never knew that silence can hurt so much. She started to walk away.

"I love you."

"Liar."

Jonah watches as Mindy walks out the room.

A/N

OMG! FINALLY it's out. I'm sad for Bruce. =( hahaha is it weird I'm sad for my own characters? I'll try to update again this week but I want to work on my second book "Be Mine Again" as well so hopefully I can get a chapter out for that and another one for this by the end of the week!
