Song "I'll Be Good" by Jaymes Young

It's been three days since the incident in Jonah's bathroom. Since then Mindy did her best to avoid him and only attended to him when needed and even then the awkwardness between the two was of no secret.

Jonah was feeling much better even though the pain in his shoulder hasn't disappear, it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. He had called Jordan earlier to thank him only to be thrown a thousand questions from his best friend. Questions that he would soon answer as he hates keeping secrets from him.

Mindy had just brought him lunch in his room and to his surprise she was being obedient as ever. She on the other hand had decided that she will not run anymore but gain his trust and persuade him into letting her go. Obviously she knew he wasn't a bad dirt evil guy as she presumed him to be.

The ringing of Jonah's phone brings him back to reality as he sets the lunch down on the night stand and look at the caller ID. "From Korea? Lillie? What is she calling for?"

"Hello?" He curiously answered.

"Hey big brother! You've got some explaining to do!" Lillie's voice came loud and demanding.

"What...?"

"There some guy here name Nathaniel or Nate whatever his name is looking for some chick name Mindy that he claims works here but obviously she doesn't because you fired her before she even got here to start working." She accused him. "And yes before you asked I just looked into it. So explain!"

Oh fuck. Jonah was stunned. He didn't know what to say. All he can think about was what in the world is Nate doing there in Korea the first place.

"Well...I'm waiting," Lillie impatiently said.

"What did you tell him so far?" Jonah was suddenly worried that his little sister might have blown everything.

"Not much except for the fact that she didn't work here."

"What!? You told him that?"

"Well yeah. What am I suppose to do tell him to wait while I find a Mindy that doesn't exist. This Nate I tell ya. He's quite the jerk. Demanding and rude. Said I didn't know what I was talking about that this Mindy did work here. Hello I run the place here! Ha he's kinda like you."

"Shut it Lillie. Now tell me from the beginning what happened." Jonah said.

-

After listening to his sister explain, he was a little relieved. It seems that Nate still believe Mindy works there.

"Do something to get rid of him. And make up some excuse as to why Mindy isn't there at the moment. Let him believe she still works there." Jonah tasked her.

"But I already told him she doesn't."

"Well tell him you're a klutz and you made a mistake."

"You cannot see or feel it but I'm mentally kicking your ass right now!" Lillie shouted through the phone.

"Thanks baby sis." He cooed.

"You owe me."

"I know."

"One more question Jonah. Who's Mindy?" she asked. The sudden interest irks at Jonah's annoyance.

"I'll tell you the next time you come into town." With that he hangs up the phone on his sister.

That conversation with his sister made him lose his appetite. He was worried and can only hope his sister pulls through. Jonah had assigned his sister to run the company there while he worked with the US offices.

Lying on his bed, he try to figure out why Nate was there. The only solution he can think of was the man really has it bad for Mindy. His Mindy. Jealousy surge through him as he imagine how happy she would be to see him. "That jerk! Keep dreaming." He whispered loudly.

Just then his phone went off again.

"Great...more bad news from her." He looks at the caller ID and his face went from jealous angry to serious. The name read "Hospital". "Worst." He thought as he picked up the phone.

"What's wrong?" he asked without greetings.

"Mr. Chambers, he's back."

Jonah speeds through the afternoon traffic towards the hospital. His temper was boiling thinking about the bastard coming close to his mother again. This time he's going to teach him a lesson. Bruce's face flashed through his head as he expertly maneuver through the city traffic. He wants to choke the man to death but then his thought was quickly overshadow by Mindy's face. Her sad, broken face when he had once again brought out the chain to bound her. He didn't want too but he had no choice. He didn't want to risk losing her again. She had willingly gave up her limbs without a fight and that tear at Jonah even more. Shaking his head to rid of her, he continued towards the hospital.

-

"How is she?" Jonah asked. He was doing his best to keep the anger in him from blowing up.

"She's fine Mr. Chambers. Like you requested we turned down all visitors so they didn't make contact." Nurse Joy stated. She was behind the visitors sign in desk while Jonah was on the other side of it.

"That's good. Thank you for calling me right away. I..." his voice trailed off as he spots a too familiar face emerged from the visitor's restroom. Bruce.

"That bastard is still here..." he spoke through his teeth.

Nurse Joy looked at the direction he was looking at and her eyes widen.

"What are you going to do sir?"

"Kill him."

"Wait Mr. Chambers listen to me." But he was already stalking towards the direction that Bruce had headed.

"Mr. Chambers wait!" Nurse Joy follows. She grabs hold of Jonah's arm blocking his attempt to move forward just as they reach the revolving exit doors.

"Out of my way! You're letting him get away!" Jonah shouts seeing Bruce round the corner outside.

"Mr. Chambers listen to me!" Nurse Joy demanded. "He isn't the man that visited your mother!"

Jonah still trying to loosen her grip on him suddenly pause turning his head slowly to face the woman.

"What did you just say?"

"He wasn't the man that caused your mother to panic." She repeated.

He couldn't believe what he was hearing. It's like someone just took a blow to his face and he was seeing white right now.

"Come I have something to show you." She ushered him back to the counter.

Going behind the desk, she takes out some photos from a folder.

"Here, these are photos of the man that came the other day and today to visit your mother. The one who signed his name Ricky Malone. We were able to get good views of him on camera today so I had security print them out for me. He had left right after we called you." She hands the photos to him.

Jonah couldn't believe his eyes. Who was this man? He hadn't the slightest clue. One thing he knew for sure was this man was not Bruce Young. For a moment he was speechless.

"There has to be some kind of mistake." He said more to himself. "This isn't right. Who is this man? Then man from before..."

"Are you talking about Mr. Young?" Nurse Joy asked?

"You know him?" he questioned.

"Yeah he's a good friend of your mother. Comes here every now and then to visit her. She enjoys his company well. But sadly today I had to turn him down because you said no visitation from anyone. He arrived just before you did." She concluded.

"Ha...ha... friend..." Jonah chuckled. He couldn't believe what he was hearing and what he saw.

Pulling out his phone he dial his private investigator. "I'm going to fax you some pictures. Find out everything you can about him. And what his connection with my mother is. Make sure it's the truth! You have one hour!" he hangs up before turning to Nurse Joy. "Your office now."

-

Jonah slowly drags his feet towards his mother's room holding the documents that were faxed back to him.

One hour before he was sent over pictures and documents about this unknown man and Bruce and his mother. The unknown man his name was Leroy Nettleton, uses the alias Ricky Malone, con artist, recently developed a gambling problem and now is millions in debt. Along with his description, there were photos of him and his mother together in intimate poses more than those of Bruce and his mother.

There were also files of Bruce and his mother. Evidence that they have known each other for a very long time. Colleagues in college.

Opening the door to his mother's room she is on the bed reading a book. Looking up she smiles widely. "Son you came."

"Hey ma." He said. He sits down next to her on the bed giving her a kiss and then a hug. It felt good to be in her arms he thought. He need it more than anything right now.

"Now what's wrong dear? You look so tire. Are you getting enough rest?" she asked worried.

"Yeah. I just miss you that's all."

"Awe I miss you too." She places a kiss on his forehead.

"Mom I need you to confirm something." He pulls out a picture of Bruce. "How do you know this man?"

His mother smiles upon seeing the man in the picture. "That's Bruce. He's a dear friend of mine and your father before he passed away. We were all college buddies along with his now wife. Bruce was like a big brother to me. He adored me because I introduced him to his wife. We've been good friend ever since." A warm smile was on her face as she reminisce about the past. "Why the interest?"

"I...uh was just wondering. I'm thinking about doing business with him." Jonah lied. His head was pounding like crazy and a sick feeling lies in his stomach not going away. With his mother's confirmation, guilt washed over him.

"You guys were never romantically involved?" he wanted to make sure.

"No silly. We're just great friends. He helped me a lot you know. Even with that jerk. Bruce was always there to comfort me and give me advice. But stupid me didn't listen." She continued. "You know! He sometimes come here and visit but recently I haven't seen him."

Jonah had heard enough. He just wanted to get out of there. "Thanks mom. That's all I needed to know."

"Son what's wrong?"

"Nothing Ma. I have to get going now. I still have some work to finish at the office."

"Okay. Make sure to get plenty of rest. Love you."

Jonah kisses his mother goodbye before heading out.

-

The sky has already darken as Jonah gets into his truck, a heavy sigh releases from his mouth. Closing his eyes his right fist connects with his steering wheel. Once. Twice. Over and over again ignoring the pain from his shoulder.

"What have I done? What have I done?" he repeated the words over and over again. He bites down on his trembling lips to hold back the sob threatening to escape his throat. Tears rolled down his eyes slowly landing on his bloody knuckles. He had mistaken Young for Nettleton. He was so blinded by revenge that he did sloppy investigation. He gripped tightly at the wheel as he laid his head atop them.

"What have I done Mindy?"
