"Oh my gosh. Never again am I'm jumping from a cliff. We almost die back there." Mindy was coughing crawling on all four out of the water to dry land.

"How are you doing ogre?"

"I'm fine." Jonah hunched over breathing heavy.

"Now what?" she crawled over to him.

"It's almost night fall we'll have to spend the night here. Thanks to the short cut down the stream tomorrow will be a short trip back." He grunts.

"If it's a short trip let's just go now. I still have energy left in me." She suggested. Her body was drenched from head to toe and the temperature outside was dropping. She didn't want to freeze to death in the wild.

"We can't I need to rest."

"But Jonah," she grabs him turning him to face her. "I think... oh gosh. Jonah. You you've been shot." Her current thoughts were replaced with concern as she stare at the punctured wound on the front of his right shoulder.

"Yeah I guess I was," he joked but the pain coursing through his body was nothing he's ever felt before.

"What do I do? What do I do? Are you hurt? Are you okay? I'm so sorry. This is all my fault." She cried. Tears escape her eyes as her body shake uncontrollably.

"Hey hey shhhh it's okay. I'm fine." He comforts her pulling her into his embrace with his good arm.

"I'm sorry Jonah this is really all my fault."

"It's fine. Come on sit here I need to find some branches and start a fire or else we won't be able to see pretty soon."

Mindy jolts away from his body causing him to grimace at the pain.

"Oh god I'm sorry."

"Stop apologizing."

"You're hurt so you stay here and I'll go look."

"It's dangerous – "

"Be quiet there's no room for argument here. I won't be far."

Mindy walks a little away from the stream in search of good size pieces of wood.

While she was gone Jonah lies himself against a tree trunk. He starts peeling his hoodie off of him slowly biting down on his bottom lip to subdue the pain. Tossing his hoodie aside he takes off his bloodstain white t-shirt and gets a good look at his wound. He was shot in the water and had lost a lot of blood and is still losing blood. Dizziness was fighting against him but he couldn't fall out of consciousness now. His first priority was Mindy. He knew he had to stay awake to protect her and he didn't want her to worry sick about him.

About ten minutes later Mindy returns with an arm full of branches and twigs. She drops them by the tree Jonah had position himself at. Her eyes drool over his bare body before landing on the bullet wound then onto his tightly shut eyes and that scared her senseless. Dropping to her knees in front of him, she gently shake his good shoulder.

"Jonah. Wake up are you okay? Jonah."

He made no movement of waking up.

"Oh no Jonah!" her voice hitched.

She leans down putting her head against his chest listening for a heart beat.

"You're warm." He swallowed.

"Thank you angels." She said a silent prayer before getting off him.

"I've got some fire woods. If you direct me, maybe I can start the fire." she suggested.

Jonah slowly forces himself up with Mindy moving immediately to his aide. He sets himself by the woods and starts getting to work stacking pieces next and over each other.

"I said I can do it." Mindy protested. She can see that he was in pain and didn't want to cause him anymore discomfort than she already has.

He half chuckles half cough at the same time. "I doubt you will be able to start a fire. It's okay I'm fine."

Mindy eyes him as he grinds two rocks against each other creating sparks each time. She was in awe of the man in front of her. And her thoughts about him were all in shambles. Whether he was a good person or not, she didn't know anymore.

His heavy breathing every time the two rocks are force against each other alerted her to his wound. The red blood was glistering under the burning flames. Only then did she notice that the fire was successfully made.

She helps him back against the tree. "I'm going to rest a bit now." He tiredly said.

"Not just yet," she said. She grabs his shirt and rips it as best as she can into a long strip.

"Here let me cover up your wound. Try and stop the bleeding." Without his consent, she started wrapping the cloth over his shoulder.

Jonah stared at the female before him working her magic touch on him. He was glad that Mindy was there safe and sound because he would never have forgave himself if something was to have happened to her. Her every touch send a comforting wave of shock throughout his body. The tension was almost good enough to make him forget the pain.

Mindy too, can feel the tension between them but that only weaken her stance as tears roll down her face. She had put a man's life in danger. Not just any man but someone her heart had grown to care about. Her brain did not know why in the world that was the case, but seeing the man in front of her hurt, pulled strings at her heart.

"Why are you crying are you in pain?" he breaks the silence as he notice the tears sliding down her cheeks.

He then sees that there is a bloodstain on her sleeve and instantaneously grabs her wrists stopping her movement.

"It's just a scratch I got from a branch when I was looking for fire woods." She untangles her wrists from his hands and finishes the wrap with a knot.

"Let me take a look. It must hurt if you're crying." He mentioned. His fingers aimed for the zipper on her hoodie.

"It doesn't hurt. That's not why I'm crying." She holds back a sniffle before continuing, but before she can, he wipes away her tears with his hand shushing her.

"Let's sleep. I'm very tired now." He yawned. "You mind grabbing my hoodie? I'm freezing."

"Okay," she merely whispered.

Mindy lays the hoodie on top of him as his lids dropped, snugging it tightly against him. She then position herself not too far away from him lying down on her side keeping her focus on him.

"Boyfriend huh?" his exhausted voice breaks the silence and her stare as well.

"I...uh..uh...," she can think of one excuse to her words earlier. Her mind flashes back to her loudly and clearly declaring him as her boyfriend not once but too many times.

His eyes where still closed but a smile was plastered on his face. "Was that your way of asking me out? Declaring your love for me and all?"

"You know that was not what I have meant."

"I don't mind," he chuckles teasing her some more.

"Goodnight ogre," she said as silence once again fell between them.

-

The flame flickers in the silent night, illuminating perfectly on Jonah's face she thought. He was definitely the most handsome man she has ever seen and for once she was thankful to have him in her life. She watches as his breathing slow and his eyebrow scrunch together and his body begin to tremble.

She crawls towards him placing her palm on his forehead. "Oh no, he's having a fever."

Shifting, she unzips her hoodie and places it over his own.

"Is that a little better?" But he continues to shake.

She was nervous at what she was about to do next, but she knew that it had to be done. Slowly she inches herself next to him gently wrapping her arms over him as not to harm him, then pulling him into her embrace his head snug between her neck and shoulder. She leans the both of them against the tree fixing the hoodies around them. His arms move to cradle her body causing her breath to hitch at his soft touch. The way his huge body fit so perfectly against her, delighted her. She loved the feeling.

"Jonah, I'm so sorry I hurt you." she whispered. "This was all my fault, I shouldn't have ran away. I was so worry, imagining the worst. If anything worst was to have happen to you, or if I had lost you, I would never forgive myself.

Mindy held back her tears as she confessed to a sleeping Jonah.

"Thank god you're okay," her voice was barely audible now. Closing her eyes she cave into the darkness in her head.

Jonah's lids slowly open as Mindy finished her confession of the every same word that he wanted to say to her but didn't have the courage too.
