Jonah's breathing quicken at the mention of Nate. He didn't know why but his blood was boiling pumping through his body. Even more than when Mindy's father got on the phone. What the hell was this feeling – jealousy? "No way am I jealous! My mind wonders off to the day at the lake how they were so happy in each other's arm. What the hell else did they do? How far did they go? What is their - .... FUCK! I'm Jealous!"

There was no way in hell he was going to let that man talk to her. He clears his throat catching her attention. He shook his head at her anger apparent in his eyes.

Mindy didn't know why he seem angry. Maybe because she was talking too long she thought. But she did wanted to talk to Nate. They didn't leave off on good terms. She wanted to clear that with him but one look at the ogre and she knew better.

"Uhhhh mom I don't have – "

"Hey Mindy" she was cut off by Nate's voice.

"Oh, hi Nate," she looks to Jonah his finger moves to end the call. She grabs hold of his hand before he can do so.

His eyebrow raise at her actions. She shakes her head at him. Mouthing one minute with a pleading look. He doesn't say anything so she took it as an okay but still held onto his hand just in case.

"Mindy, are you still mad at me?" Nate said sounding apologetic. She can already imagine his puppy face he makes every time he does something wrong.

"No Nate. I was never mad at you."

"Really? I thought you were because you didn't contact me before you left." He said.

"I just wanted to give you space and have you contact me when you were ready." She replied.

"That's a relief. I was scare it would have ended our friendship. I'm sorry for hurting you." He said sounding happier now.

"No way! You are my best friend, my big brother! Plus you bought me all those awesome goodbye gifts that day so everything is forgiven." She said smiling.

Jonah's eyes too light up. "Brother? Gifts? So she only see him as a brother although it's obvious he didn't feel the same about her. And those bags that day were going away gifts. I was relief for some reason."

"Brother..." Nate's voice was now distant.

Jonah clears his throat again signaling her to end the call.

"Nate I have to go." She cuts him off. "I'm at work my break is over."

"Ah okay" he said disappointed. "Mindy, I miss you."

"I miss you too Nate. You have no idea." She said back.

"And Mindy... Happy Birthday." Nate said.

"Shoot I totally forgot. Why did my parents not mention it? They were probably too worry about me calling late to remember." Her attention directs to Jonah. His left eye brow raise. Darn, she didn't want him to know.

Jonah release his hand from her grasp and end the call. He takes her phone and gets up to lock it back up. "So it's her birthday. No wonder she is dressed up today. I'll have to give her a birthday present." He thought a grin on his face as he turns to her.

"So it's your birthday? Come, I have a present for you." With that he walks out the door.

They ended up in the kitchen again. Breakfast was still untouched since they left to make the phone call. Jonah grabs the newspaper he had been reading earlier and tosses it at her sitting himself down. Mindy catches it confuse. "What is this for?" she said looking at the paper. "Happy Birthday," he said. Then her eyes widen and her mouth drop open when she read the headline.

The story goes on to say how Young's business was millions in debt and sold all the rights to Jonah. There was even a dashing picture of Jonah on there. She was too piss to care for his hot looks at the moment though it does confirm her thoughts of who he really was.

What it didn't mention though was now Bruce owe millions of dollars to Jonah. When Jonah had purchase the place, he only agree to pay off the debts if Bruce will pay him back. Jonah remembered the day when they met. The man even had the nerves to bring up his mother and said the two were great friends. And that he was thankful to Jonah for helping out. Little did he know that, that was the start of Jonah's revenge.

Mindy's hands were shaking. She crumbles it up and tosses it back at him. "What is this you jerk?"

"Your Birthday present of course," he replies with a smile.

"Give me my phone! I need to call my parents!" she demanded. She was mad, angry, confused. Why the hell did her parents not mention it to her?!

"Uh, uh, uh. You are not calling anyone. Now come here and eat your breakfast." He ushered her to go sit.

"Why did you have to buy my parents business? They worked so hard for it!" Her questions kept coming.

"You should be happy I did. Your father was in so much debt, you guys would have lost your house. So I agree to pay it off for him. Now he owes me the money and I have power over him."

"How much does my father owe you?" she was afraid to know.

"Ummm.... Just about twenty million dollars." He casually states. That money was pocket change for him but for them it's plenty.

"Twenty million dollars!!" her eyes bulge and voice raised. "This can't be! You're a liar and a cheat! I don't believe you!"

Jonah gets up grab her arms and brings her close to his face. "Well you better start believing because it's true. Now go eat. I don't want you dying on me while I'm having my fun."

"You sick bastard! I refuse to eat your diseased food."

"But you will or else." He replies.

"You can't make me," she challenges him.

Letting go of her walks to the table taking a spoonful into his mouth. He then goes back to her grabs her and kiss her. Fisting her hair into his fist he pulls her head back causing her to yelp. When she did he force the food into her mouth.

She pushes him away ready to spit out the food until his voice came loud and serious, "If you spit it out I'll make you eat if off the floor! Don't challenge me Mindy." He moves to the table once more grabbing a napkin to wipe his mouth.

She forces down the food before wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "You nasty ogre! You..."

"Are you going to eat now or should I continue feeding you?" he cuts her off.

Shooting him a disgusted look, she stomps to the table and start eating. A satisfied smile on his face.

After breakfast, Mindy cleans up the dishes with no complaints. She was too busy thinking of her family's dilemma. First discovering her father is a cheater and now her family losing the business and is millions in debt. When she finishes she looks to Jonah who was sitting on the coach reading the papers once again. She knew there was no point in running with him so close by. She walks over to him and stop right in front of him. He looks up from his reading and stares up at her.

Looking away, she extends her arms out to him. He was confuse trying to figure out what game she is playing now.

"Or do you want to chain my ankle instead?"

He chuckles at this action. Instead he pulls her down to sit next to him. A yelp escapes her lips being taken by surprise as she falls to his side.

"What are you doing?" she eyes him suspiciously.

He doesn't answer but pulls out a first aid kit from under the table and pulls out a tube of ointment. Opening it, he takes her hands applying some onto her wrists one at a time and gently massaging it.

She stares at him in silence trying to control her beating heart as she didn't expect this. His every touch sending electric shocks throughout her body. She had forgotten about protesting as she stares at the perfection of his face.

"He looks so gentle and beautiful. If only we met under different circumstances." Jonah lifts his head eyeing her after he finishes. "Those eyes...OMG what am I thinking?" Mindy blinks one too many time after returning from imagination land. Noticing his eyes on her she turns away.

"Hahaha" he chuckles. "It's your turn now."

"Huh?" she turns back to look at him.

He lets go of her wrist and points to his head. She looks to the bandage on his head where she had hit him yesterday.

"I... I don't want to." She said.

He replies putting the first aid kit in her lap. "It was your doing anyways."

She pouts her lips ready to protest, "Or do you want to kiss it instead?" He grinned. He wish she would pick the second option. But sadly she invert her lips concealing them before shaking her head and immediately opening the first aid box.

He laughs looking at her clumsy hand. He knows he have some kind of effect on her just like she do him.

Setting the bag onto the table she inch closer to him. Carefully taking her hands to his head, she cups her left under his chin to hold him steady as her right hand work on getting off the bandage. The air around them suddenly thicken and intense with heat. She feels his jaw clinching under her hold. His eyes never leaving her face. She tried her best not to look at him but only to focus on his cut. She failed.

Wiping away the dried blood she reaches for the alcohol swipes. "Ummm... this is going to sting a bit." She said cupping his face again.

He just nodded his head lightly.

She gently dabs at the cut. "Ah" he flinches a little.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry! Just bear it for a little bit." He was shock at her sincerity.

She continues to dab at his cut ignoring his eagle stare. Without a second thought to what she was doing she says, "Excuse me." And lifts herself up putting her lips just an inch before his wound and blew cool air onto it.

This catches Jonah by surprise. As he stares at her neck in front of him he smiles his heart fluttering.

Mindy backs up, quickly applying some ointment on it and then slipping a bandage on it. Breathing a sigh of relief, she smiles, "there all done."

Jonah hasn't seen her smile since they gotten here, his face became serious. Mindy realizing that she had totally forgotten what situation she was in and who was in front of her, slowly wipes the smile off her face.

Just as she moves to turn her face, this time he grab a hold of her face gently. She looks up at him with her honey eyes as if in a trance. He too returns her look. Looking at her not as an enemy but with eyes of a lover.

Slowly he leans his head down tilting his head for a kiss. Just as their lips were about to touch, she turns her head away.

Jonah wasn't going to give up though. He turns her head back again this time softly placing his lips to hers his eyes closing.

Mindy not being able to find the strength to push him away, closes her eye with a single tear escaping her eye.
