《The Mistake》Chapter One

It was barely the crack of dawn when Mindy woke up abruptly panting with cold sweats running down her whole body. "It was that dream again," she said to herself. Trying to catch her breath, her mind wonders back to the dream –

'She's running away as fast as she can. Someone was chasing after her closely behind. Tripping over something, she tumbles down to the ground. Looking up the sun blinds her eyes but she can still see his silhouette. He's here, hovering over her but she can never see his face. Who is he?'

Snapping out of her day dreaming, she looks at her phone – 5:30AM, "great," sighing she knows she won't be able to fall back asleep after that, she rolls out of bed grabbing her bath towel as she enters the bathroom.

"Morning Mommy!" Mindy says hugging her mother from behind. Although at the age of 26, she can never be too old when it came to her mother, Grace Lee Young. "Morning Hun, any plans for today?" her mother says while preparing brunch. It was a Saturday, so her parents enjoy sleeping in on the weekend. "Yeah, I'll be meeting up with Nate today." Nate, being a friend who Mindy met in grad school is like an older brother to her. Although they both know the strong feelings he holds for her, both had established to be friends as Mindy doesn't return his feelings. "Okay be safe and have fun," her mother replies. Mindy was already grabbing her bag and keys, "and spend some more time with your father and me," she continued. "Okay mom, love you, bye!" Mindy said running out the door.

Pulling out the drive way, Mindy smiles thinking about all the fortunate events that's been going on in her life recently. Her mother has been extra nice to her since she's gotten a job offer overseas in South Korea. Leaving in exactly one week, it's no wonder her mother wanted her to spend her last few days with her family. Having just gotten out of graduate school and working full time as a marketing assistant for two years, her boss recommended her to his buddy abroad. Speaking highly of her and after working her butt off to prove her capabilities, Mindy was able to land her a spot as a Marketing Manager in one of the company's department.

South Korea was no stranger to her as she has spent a year studying abroad there during her undergraduate years. She was also fluent in the language as her mother was a Korean women. Her father, Bruce Ivan Young, was your handsome average American dad. They had fallen in love since their college days and married immediately after building their life with their two lovely daughters and the truck business he built up from scratch. Mindy, unlike her younger sister who took after their father in height and looks, inherited almost all her mother's look: petite, brown wavy hair, pale ivory skin tone, everything except her eyes which were her father's big honey colored eye. Mindy could not be more proud of herself she thought as she drives to meet her dear friend Nate at the lake front.

"Today is the day. The day I know the identities of that asshole's daughters. I will surely teach them a lesson. Do exactly just what he did to my mother to his daughters. They are all going to pay a hundred times worst," thought Jonah as he sat on the park bench gazing over the lake.

ANDDDD there we have it.

Short first chapter I know. The first couple chapters are going to be short because when I first started writing this story it was on paper and I never split it up. So now I'm trying to find the best spots to split them into chapters. The first couple chapters will be short like this, but I promise it gets longer!
