I look around the restaurant, knowing damn well I shouldn't be here. What's worst I know she shouldn't be here either. The last thing I want is a fight to break out at the restaurant. However, she said she would be on her best behavior. I glance down at my watch, Selena must be running late. The restaurant she chose wouldn't be a place I would frequent if I wanted to. It is really over the top. The menu prices were outrageous for even an appetizer. I hope Selena knows she is paying for tonight's meal. Our table was tucked away in the corner, yet it was still visible. I sat where I could see the entrance, I don't like surprises, and seeing everything also helps settle my nerves.

"For fuck sake is she running late." She says taking another gulp of her second wine glass. Not a second later, in walks Selena. She smiles when she sees me, but as she nears the table a frown appears.

"Charlotte, what a pleasant surprise to see you here." Selena looks at Charlotte forcing a smile on her face as she takes her seat. "I thought it was going to be just my sister and me." she looks at me confused.

"I wish I could say it's a pleasant surprise to see you, but I would be lying." Charlotte smiles.

"Uh, well, Selena you said not to bring Darren."I bring the attention and conversation back to me.

"Yeah, I know that, but I didn't think you would bring Charlotte. You two must be close? Charlotte and I weren't technically buddy-buddy, so—"

"Still here," Charlotte speaks. "If you want the honest truth, I invited myself to this dinner. I don't trust you, Selena. And seeing that Alsie is carrying my real niece I think it's best I tag along. You know the first thing you did fishy in my opinion is telling her not to bring her fiancé. Secon—"

"Thank you, Charlotte. I can take it from here. I think we should order food, then Selena and I can talk." I cut her off. I remember a while back Austin mentioned that Charlotte hates Selena. So I can only imagine what Charlotte really wants to say to her.

"Right, pretend I'm not here." Charlotte picks up the menu.

"Or you can just leave and we won't have to pretend," Selena adds.

"Or, I can break your jaw and stop pretending in my head I did it." Charlotte slowly puts down the menu. "You see I owe you an asswhopping from seven years ago. But it's not about me tonight... it's about you and Alsie." Charlotte takes a deep breath and looks at me. "I will try my hardest not to cause a scene. Just pretend I'm not here."

Pretending Charlotte wasn't here was easier said than done. I can see Selena was really trying to make amends with me. Also every time she said sorry, Charlotte would suck her teeth. I wasn't going to cause a scene either, but I was this close to it when Charlotte sucked her teeth once again.

"Actually Charlotte do you mind giving Selena and me some privacy real quick? I would like to just talk to my sister alone." I say. Honestly, I was a bit nervous, I don't know how Charlotte would react. I like Charlotte, but she seems to get her way a lot with the guys and I don't want this to ruffle any feathers.

"Sure." She gives me a tight smile, standing up and taking her wine glass. "Shout if you need me."

As soon as Charlotte is out of ear reach, Selena lets out a deep breath before letting out a ton of curse words regarding Charlotte. This is my first time seeing that someone could get underneath her skin. Selena's green eyes shined with disgust as she continued to talk badly about Charlotte.

"Okay, I think you should stop." I finally tell her. "Charlotte has been nothing, but nice to me. Now would you really like to tell me why you have me here? At first, I thought it was because you wanted to make amends and work on our relationship. But seeing you lash out over Charlotte being here and the things you just said about her, I'm not sure anymore." I tilt my head to the side, taking in her body language.

"Fine, you got me." She drops her napkin onto her plate. "I came here to talk to you about Darren. I know you know that he has been trying his hardest to keep us from talking to each other."

"Has he? I didn't notice and why would he be doing that?" I really want to know why.

"So he hasn't told you?"

"Told me what?"

"I told him I want him back and I want you out of the picture. I know you two aren't really together and you aren't his fiancée, he just said that to hurt me. Indeed it did at the time, but now I know the truth. Scott and I are getting a divorce once I know, Darren and I will get back together."

"Selena, are you okay? Darren and I are very much together—we live together, we're having a child together and eventually, we are going to get married." See here is the thing about Selena, she doesn't really want Darren she doesn't want me to have him. I could tell her Darren and I are done for and she would stop her crazy pursuit of him. "Scott would be devasted if you leave him and think about Zoey in all of this."

"It's my happiness no one else's." She raises her voice slightly. "And you need to be out of the picture." I see her gripping the steak knife. Before she could lung forward, Charlotte appeared out of nowhere. She grabs her wrist slamming it on the table. It was loud enough that other partons look our way.

"Selena, Selena, Selena," Charlotte repeats slowly, grabbing the back of Selena's head and slamming her face into the plate of food. "I really was trying to refrain from causing a scene. I really do like this restaurant."

"Charlotte," I look around the restaurant. Someone is bound to call the cops. "I think you should let her go," I added nervously.

"No, I don't think so."

Selena tries to wiggle free, but it makes Charlotte tighten her grip. "Charles are you fucking insane, let me go."

"Don't ever call me that again. You have no right to. You know Selena, I was nice to let you off the hook seven years ago, but not this time. Did you really think about stabbing your sister, who I might add is pregnant? Also, you are in a room full of people too." Charlotte lifts Selena's head up only to slam it back down. Gasps can be heard throughout the restaurant.

"Charlotte, please let her go," I beg. "I think Selena just had a little too much to drink."

"No can do. She hurt Darren."

That's when I see it. The pure anger and hatred in Charlotte's eyes. She wasn't going to let go, it look like she was out for blood. I think these two have a history as well.

"Darren and—"

"Don't you dare say his name!" Charlotte snaps and grips her hair tighter. I can hear someone on the phone probably calling the cops. This isn't looking so good. "You hurt Darren so much, you broke him and moved on as if nothing happen. Like he didn't matter like he was worthless. Like all those years you two spent together was nothing. You broke my brother, now you are asking him to be with you again. Make it make sense!"

I don't dare stand to get in her way. I'm pregnant--not stupid.

"I was foolish—"

Charlotte drags Selena out of her chair by her hair. Selena is taken by surprise by it because she falls to her knees. The knife is no longer in her hand as she grabs at Charlotte's hand in her hair. I look around the restaurant pleading for someone to help, but no one budges, they only stare. Just fucking peachy. Not even the employees are trying to intervene. What kind of restaurant is this?

Charlotte cocks her free arm back, her hand balled in a fist. I try one last time to get Charlotte to stop, but it falls on deaf ears. Her fist connects with Selena's nose and when I think it was going to continue I hear my savior's voice.

"Charles, what the fuck are you doing?" Chase moves quickly, stopping Charlotte. "Let her go."

"No," she snaps. "She hurt Darren and tried to hurt Alsie, she should at least feel some pain. How can someone do that to the person they claimed to love. They were going to get married, she told him Zo Zo was his. She lied."

"Charles, you can let her go--I'm okay." I didn't even see Darren come inside the restaurant. Charlotte looks at him with tears in her eyes. She reluctantly lets Selena's hair go. I bet any money in the world Charlotte called them when she left the table. Now Darren knows I lied to him today. I told him I was going to dinner with just Charlotte to talk about mommy stuff.

"She hurt you," Charlotte says again. "She hurt you and seeing you hurt, hurt me. I couldn't protect you when you needed me the most. When you love someone you don't do that to them. She left you in the past and now she wants you because someone else has you. It doesn't work that way. You begged her to want you and to just stay that night and she abandoned you and then sent that text that Zo Zo wasn't yours and to get over yourself. I introduced you two, it's all my fault." she breaks down in Chase's arms.

Am I missing something here or did Charlotte just confirm what I was thinking earlier? Those two were friends?

"It's not your fault. You protected me, Charles, you did, but what you are doing now isn't right," Darren says. He and I make eye contact before he helps Selena up off the floor. I know I shouldn't feel some type of way about that, but I do. He asks Selena if she is okay and all she can do is nod her head. I swear if her nose wasn't bleeding right now, she would be all over Darren and his knight and shining armor facade.

"Of course she is fine, it's not like Charlotte killed her." I roll my eyes.

"Oh, hell I see Charlotte Ali is back at it again," Everett says walking in. "You know I thought you gave up fighting back in college. You're 35 Charles, you going to jail." Everett teases, but it wasn't funny because in walked the cops. "Oh, you really are going to jail," he adds.

I look back at Darren and he gives me a look of disappointment.

Just fucking peachy! I should have never come to this dinner.

This chapter is a filler to give you all an insight into Charlotte's feelings about Selena and Darren's past relationship. It kind of helps the storyline for another book I do want to add is kind of like lol. The stories aren't being posted in order, but once you start to read them all you will understand. I had to map out everything because literally, each book intertwines with the next. I didn't do this on purpose (Not writing them in order) I just write what sparks my interest first.
