《Accidentally Knocked Up》15

Sunday came quicker than expected. I wasn't ready to face my dad nor Selena. I threw up all morning and afternoon. Darren tried to help me ease the nerves away by giving me multiple orgasms, but in the end, it didn't help. Here we are standing in front of my dad's house for dinner. Darren rings the doorbell, noticing I wasn't making any effort to do so. He takes my hand into his, telling me everything will be okay.

The door opens and my stepmother appears. Her wavy blonde hair is placed neatly over one shoulder. The emerald green dress she is wearing fits her like a second glove. My stepmother was leaving nothing for the imagination. She takes in my appearance and slowly her eyes lock on Darren's and my hand. I can see the look of disgust on her face, but then she smiles when she looks Darren in the face.

"Darren, Alsie come inside." I walk inside first, spotting my father.

"Hey, dad." Letting go of Darren's hand I embrace my father in a hug. "How have you been?"

"Good, how have you been? How's the baby?" he steps back, placing his hand on my stomach.

"I'm doing well and the baby is fine, growing more and more every day," I tell him. "I would like you to meet Darren." I look over my shoulder gesturing for Darren to come closer.

"I know who this young man is," they shake hands. My dad doesn't seem all too happy to know Darren is the one who got me pregnant. I bet he still thinks Darren is the father of Zoey. Hell, I bet Selena never told anyone the truth. "I thought we saw the last of you seven years ago."

"Dad," I give him a pointed look. "Let's not."

"It's okay love. I'm sure your father has a lot he wants to discuss with me." Darren says and my father nods his head. "I will be right back." He kisses me on the cheek and follows my father into the den. Awkwardly, I stand in the living room looking around. I see step-mommy dearest did some decorating over the past few years. What catches my eye is the photo on the mantle. It's a picture of my mother and me when I was six. Wow, I didn't think dad had any photos of my mother and me left. Once I moved out I thought I took them all. I wasn't going to leave anything of my mother behind so these vile women could get their hands on it.

"What is she doing here?"

I turn around to the sound of Selena's voice. What the hell does she mean, what am I doing here? They told me she knew I was coming to dinner this Sunday. Or did dad lie to me yet again? He lied. Selena is standing in the doorway of the dining room. Her eyes linger on my stomach and then back to my face.

"Hey Selena, how are you?" I fake a smile.

"I would be better if you weren't here." She moves in my direction, I take a step back. "Came to gloat about being pregnant with my ex's baby? How low of you." She whispers.

"There is no need to gloat," I say. Selena is going to create a problem tonight, I just know it. It's always something with her when it comes to me. She has her own little family, she should be happy. Hell, you would think she would be happy. On her social media, she seemed more than happy. "It's been seven years," I tell her.

"Doesn't matter how long it's been touching what's mine will always be a problem with me. You couldn't sink your claws into someone other than Darren? Just had to take whats—"

"He isn't yours or mine. He is his own person, not property." I never understood this logic from people. "Where is your husband and Zoey?" I ask changing the subject. I refuse to stand here arguing with someone who has a fucking husband and is worried about the next man.

"You don't get it, do you. Darren Reed was my first, my everything, and then one stupid mishap cost me everything. I still love him, Alsie. It's not a day that doesn't go by, that I don't think damn what if I didn't get drunk that night. I will not let you live peacefully with a life that should have been for me." She places her hand on my stomach and I quickly move back.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I protectively cover my stomach with my hands.

"I want Darren back and well succeed at it too. He and I were together for years and I know everything about him. Just you wait." She leaves me dumbfounded in the living room. The feeling of not being enough creeps into my mind again. I wasn't enough for my dad, so he choose to spend more time with the twins and his new wife. I wasn't enough to keep my college boyfriend who slept with my roommate and I wasn't enough to keep Darren for the past two months—which means I wouldn't be enough to keep him away from Selena.

"Dinner is ready." My stepmother shouts.

My father and Darren's laughter comes out clear as the den's door opens. Darren spots me first, the smile falls from his face as he takes in my appearance. I smile covering up the worried look. Darren gives me a look that I can't quite figure out just yet. I guess when he and I know more about the other, I will be able to pick up on these things. My dad excuses himself and tells us don't take too long, the food will get cold.

"What's the matter? Did anything happen?" I ask Darren.

"I should be asking you those questions. Why do you look like you wanted to cry a few moments ago? Did someone say or do anything to you?" his jaw tenses.

I shake my head no.

"You're lying, but we can talk about that later on tonight." He takes my hand in his. "Let's just get this dinner over with."

Entering the dining room, I'm shocked to see Selena's husband. Not too long ago she was talking freely about wanting to be with Darren and now she is hand and hand with her husband. The audacity of this chick. Now it's Selena's turn to look surprised. She subtly lets go of her husband's hand when she saw Darren. I guess she didn't know he was here. I wonder what the hell, my dad and stepmother told Selena to get her here.

"Where is Zoey?" I ask walking over to an empty seat. I could care less if she was here or not, but for Darren's sake, I needed the answer to be said out loud. I'm pretty sure he thinks about her. For crying out loud that picture was hanging in his office for seven years. I wonder how he would be if she was around.

"At her best friend's house," Selena answers never taking her eyes off Darren. Earth to Selena, your husband is right next to you. "Darren I didn't know you would be joining us for dinner." Finally, she tears her eyes away from him and now stares at her mother. My stepmother says something along the lines of wanting to surprise her. Not sure why this would be a surprise in the first place, well not a good one.

Darren takes the seat next to me. I look over at him, oddly enough he looks okay.

"Scott, I would like you to meet Darren and my sister Alsie." Selena introduces us. Scott looks like he belongs on someone's magazine cover. I'm not saying he looks better than Darren, but it's definitely some competition there. Scott opens his mouth to greet us and I have to stifle my laugh. Why does he have such a high-pitch voice? Darren lets out a chuckle but quickly covers it with a cough. I look over at him, a smile tugging at my lips. So he finds that voice funny too.

This is going to be one interesting dinner.
