We tried our best to complete the obstacles again, but still couldn't do it. No matter how much effort we put into it.
—
I woke up to an agonizing pain that spread throughout my entire body.
"Oh, I...lost consciousness again," barely getting the words out. My whole body ached. Trying to get myself up was like a nightmare.
"Wh-What the—? And I was lookin' forward to a happy ending!" Miu pouted
"Not yet! We're just getting started!" Kokichi encouraged
"O-Of course! This will be...a piece of cake!" Tenko sounded more like she was trying to convince herself.
Everyone was getting ready to try it again!? They're crazy...I don't want to keep trying, just to fail each time.
"Come on Y/n!" Kaede tried to encourage me. Everyone else was looking at me as I just stood there.
"Oh um, well...actually... I don't think I'll go with you guys to try again.." I said. I looked down to the floor, trying to ignore everyone's disapproving stares. "Sorry..." I muttered quietly.
"How come?" Korekiyo asked, everyone waiting for my answer.
"I just.. I don't think that Monokuma would make it that easy. Why should I waste my energy trying, when I know I'm only going to be disappointed and burnt out after? I'd rather save my energy."
"But what if there really is an exit on the other side?" Tenko asked me, she seemed worried about me..I hesitated before I answered.
"Well, if you guys do escape, I'll know since...you'll never come back. Then that's when I'll actually go and try."
"Buuuut won't that mean when you try you'll be alone?" Kokichi asked and I nodded. "Well in that case.." he then separated from the group and came to stand right beside me. "Then I'll stay here with you! That way if the others do escape, you won't be completely alone!" He said proudly.
"Wooow Kokichi, how thoughtful of you." I say sarcastically, he just laughed.
"Ughh, alright then. You better not try anything you degenerate!" Tenko yelled at Kokichi, and then the rest of them went into the tunnel again. Leaving just me and kokichi. Great..
I sighed. Out of all people, why this little gremlin? I walk over to the wall so I could sit down and lay my back against it.

"Nishishi! So, Y/n. Tell me more about your Ultimate Talent! I elaborated on mine, but I wanna know about yours too." He came to sit next to me
"It's...pretty simple. I dance, but with fire! Most of the time I use torches, but there's also some special dancing equipment that's longer and I light both of the ends on fire. Dancing with those ones do take a bit more skill tho." I explain. I turned my head to see that Kokichi had come closer to me, I could feel his hair tickling my face.
"Wooaa!? Space..?!" I immediately move back a bit to a comfortable distance.
"Nishishi, sorry about that. Anyway, your talent seems pretty cool! I still don't get the slutty clothes tho."
"It's just, part of the style. Also it's a bit better cuz, if I wore more clothing there's a higher chance of setting myself on fire. If I wear less, I'll probably only get a small burn if I'm really unlucky."
"Ooohh, I get it now." The male exaggerated his expressions
Kokichi and I then chatted about random little things for a bit. Turns out he's not as bad as I initially thought he was. But then the others arrived
"Failed...again." Gonta said disappointed
"Damn it!" Kaito shouted in frustration
"Wait, we can't give up. This time, we'll—"
"Just knock it off already." Kokichi suddenly spoke up, I turned my head to see he had a dark look on his face.
"Huh?" Kaede said in confusion
"You're free to keep trying on your own, but forcing them to join you is basically torture." Said kokichi
"T-Torture?.."
"You won't let them give up no matter what they say, you have the moral high ground... That...doesn't sound like torture to you?" Kokichi asked
"Hey, what are you going on about? You didn't even participate this time—" I say to him
"I'm just speaking up for the others. I can tell they feel the same way by the look on their faces!"
Looking at the others, they look seriously tired, and frustrated.
"Everyone...?" Kaede asks, wanting to hear if what Kokichi said was really how they were feeling.
"My spirit...is nearly broken...This hardship gnaws at me..." Korekiyo speaks up
"Given the circumstance...the most logical course of action would be to give up..." Keebo added

"I knew this was impossible from the start." Maki looks to the floor
"Kh...This bullshit is a waste of my precious time and energy." Miu scoffed
"I can't let you all rely on my magic... Besides, I don't have enough MP left."
"I'm just relieved that no one was seriously injured. Praise be to Atua." Said both Himiko and Angie.
"P-Please, wait! We...no can give up!" Gonta tried to convince them
"You guys! Are you really okay with not getting out of this place!?" Kaito shouted
"Of course we want to get out! But we can't push ourselves too much, Kaito. Everyone is already injured in some way. I'm sure we'll find another way out." I say, but that didn't seem to sit well with some. Soon people started arguing.
"We fell apart pretty quick for a group that decided to be friends and work together." I mutter to myself
"I'm sorry...this is my fault. I'm so sorry..." kaede started to panic, and I swear I could almost see some tears forming in her eyes.
"No, kaede—" Shuichi was cut off by Kaito
"Idiot! What're you apologizing for!? It's not your fault at all!"
"....Really? I think it is Kaede's fault." Maki spoke up
"Huh!? Why!?" Kaito asked the girl, but before she could answer the monitors turned on.
"This is an official announcement from the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles. It is now 10 p.m. officially starts now." The Monokubs we're displayed on the screen
"The dining hall and gym are locked during nighttime, so be careful." And then the monitor shut back off.
"Nighttime, huh? Well, no sense pushing our luck. We should probably just get a fresh start tomorrow." Rantaro said
"Fresh start?" Angie asked
"We've each been assigned a room in the dormitory. Perhaps we should rest there?" Kirumi suggested
"Heeee! We're gonna rest there!?" Miu panicked
"It does make me nervous to think that we'll be staying in this creepy school, but I'm sure the rooms can't be that bad..." I tried to lighten up the mood
"Well, nothing we can do but suck it up! So what's our plan for tomorrow? Since the dining hall opens at 8 a.m., how about we meet there at that time?" Kokichi says
"Sure, I think that'll work. I'm okay with that." Rantaro replied
"Can we go to our rooms already?" Maki asked impatiently
"Yes, we should get as much rest as we can and regain our strength." Kirumi added
"Hey, guys? Just...as a warning... We shouldn't let our guards down. We'll be easy targets at night." Rantaro stared us all down
"Cuz of the killing game, right...?" I say
"Wait, I see no need to worry about something as illogical as a murder taking place here." Keebo said
"I know, I know. Just a warning." Rantaro replied. I wonder if he's planning a murder..or maybe he's just naturally a suspicious guy?
Everyone started to climb back up the manhole to go sleep. However, my memory is kinda bad anddddd I may have forgotten where the dorms were..
"Hey, where are you going, stupid?" Kokichi giggled a little as I heard his voice creep behind me
"Where do you think." I say bluntly
"Well, if you're going to the dorms...you're going the wrong way!
"Oh um....I knew that.." I say awkwardly
"Sure....anyway, let's go" he grabbed my arm and started to drag me to the dorms
"Hey! I can walk y'know!" I yelled but all he did was laugh and continued to drag me.
We were at the dorms now, and I was looking around for mine as Kokichi followed me around like a dog
"Why are you still following me? Go to your own dorm" I say
"Nishishi! I dunno, you seem interesting Y/n."
"Uh, Okayy....well...cool?" I had no idea what to say to that. But then I found my dorm room, finally.
"Okay I found it. Now, leave."
"Awww, bye then" Kokichi waved as I close the door on him.
The dorm room was pretty basic, but I was too tired to really look around, so I went straight to bed.
I just met that guy...why is he so clingy with me? I don't know how to feel about it...Maybe he's trying to get close to me so he can kill me... or maybe he just actually wants to be my friend...no, I doubt that. There must be a reasoning behind his actions.
I kept overthinking everything that happened for the rest of the night. Everything seemed to far fetched to actually be reality...I just hoped that when I woke up, it would all be a dream.

Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains.
