It was friday, and school was almost over. You were smiling like a dork, god... You couldn't wait until saturday.
Max wasn't showing up for the past few days, ever since... That night. I wonder what's up with that.
You brushed it off. "When do you think I can tell Preston and Harrison?" You asked Nerris. You had told her everything, the date and that night. "Hm... I don't know. Maybe in a week or so? This school year is going to end soon."
"It's going to end soon? Wait! That means my birthdays coming up!" You yell. "Huh?" She asked.
(for the sake of this story, your birthday is around may-june. Also my school ends in june so yours is going to too. ya'll gotta suffer with only 2 months of summer like me 🤡)
"My birthday is [Date from May-June]" You giggle. "It's what?! You should have told me!" She yelled. "I don't like making a big deal out of it haha." You laugh. "Oh... Hm..." She mumbled. "Nevermind." She shook her head.
You were going to ask, but brushed it off.
"Nerris?" You asked. "what's up?" She asked. "Can you help me pick out a date outfit? Please?" You laughed awkwardly. "um... Of course!" She yelled.
Suddenly Neil came over to you. "H-Hey Y/n?" He asked. "What's up?" You ask. "A...Are you free saturday?" He asked, with a hint of confidence. "Oh my... I'm so sorry Neil. I'm busy that day." You mumble. His face showed sadness.
'I really need to get over her' Neil thought to himself.
"That's fine." He smiled sadly and walked over to his second choice... Someone with blonde hair, and an eyepatch.
...
"I don't know, is this showing too much skin?" You asked.

You were wearing a white tub top, with light blue shorts. "A bit but it's perfect!" She yelled.
"Don't you think it's a bit... I don't know, slutty?" You mumbled. Remembering Max's words from a while ago.
"What? Well, maybe. But it's cute. Who cares?" She rolls her eyes. "Hm... I'll wear it. With this hat." You pull out a hat that's blue, has a white front and says "n° 1 cares" written in black.
(yes this hat exists, I have one.)
"Pfft- it's perfect!" She giggled. "Then it's settled... This is what I'll wear. Thank you so much Nerris!" You smiled, and hugged her tightly. "No problem."
"Now.. To help with your crush." You smirk.
...
It was the next day, you were on your bed in your outfit that you picked out yesterday.
Max 💙:
Sooo, you ready?
:You
Yep! So where do you
wanna meet? also where's the
amusement park?
Max 💙:
Let's meet at the park, and
honestly just follow me
Max 💙:
Can we go now? my
parents are uh.. being annoying
:You
yeah sure I'll meet you there
You brush your hair one final time, you throw your purse on and stuff your phone into it. You rush down the stairs and quickly put on your checkered patterned vans. You open the door and close it behind you, locking it you put the keys around you neck and make your way over to the park.
...
"Hey Maxwell!" You smile. "Y/n you c-... woah." Max turned and saw you, his face heated up quickly. You never really dressed like this, and you wouldn't have done it in the first place without Nerris help.
"Is something wrong? Do I have something on my-" "Nono- you just look... Stunning." He mumbles. Your face goes red.

"To think we went from arguing to this..." You laughed quietly to yourself. He chuckles at your comment. "Come on, let's go."
He starts walking and you follow him, as the two of you walk along the side walks you feel something slip into your hand. You glance at it and notice it's Max's hand. Your face heats up, and you smile to yourself. In the corner of your eyes you saw Max looking at you with a smile on his face.
...
"Woah! This is place looks so cool!" You gasp. He smiles. "I was hoping you'd like it." He grins. You roll your eyes. It was so sunny outside. "Max- take off your hoodie. You're gonna get heat stroke."
"But-" "No buts, take it off. Please." You quietly added your please. "Fine.." He mumbled after hearing your please.
He took off his hoodie and wrapped it around his waste. He had a huge bruise on his arm.
"Oh my god- How did you get that?!" You gasped. His eyes widen as if he forget that was there. "Oh um it- It nothing! I just uhh... Fell down... my stairs?" He says, though it sounds more like a question.
"Max, please don't lie to me.." You mumble, putting a hand on his cheek. "I promise I'm not lying Y/n- In fact I promise I'll never lie again." He smiled. "Pinky promise?" You ask, putting your hand out. He rolls his eyes, with a small smirk on his face. He puts his pinky in between yours. "Pinky promise."
"Now lock it!" You smile. "How do you do that?" He asked. "You touched your thumbs together- like this." You say as you touch his thumb with yours. He looks up from the two of yours hands and locked eyes with you. He smiled and laughed. "You're such a fucking nerd."
"Oh shut it." You blush. "Oh actually that reminded me of something." You say. "Hmm?" He grinned. "You haven't been showing up to school the last few days, what's up with that?" You asked.
"O..Oh. I just didn't feel like going."
You don't know if it was something he said, or the way you said it, but you had a sense he was lying. But he promised he'd never lie again. He wouldn't, right?
"Oh actually that reminded me of something." She said. "Hmm?" I grin. "You haven't been showing up to school the last few days, what's up with that?" She asked with that adorable voice of hers.
She noticed, huh? What do I say? I can't tell her the truth, she'll... She'll tell someone. I can't lose my parents. They're all I have left of my family, even though they treat me like shit I.. I still care. They gave me mr. Honeynuts when I was little, so they care about me a little bit...
I wasn't showing up to school because my mother had hit my leg, with glass. I got a cut and it was hard to move so instead I just stayed home while they went to work.
"O..Oh. I just didn't feel like going."
She looks at me, I could tell she was thinking. "If you say so... Now, let's go to the ferris wheel!"
"Pfft, Y/n we need to get bracelets first." I laughed, she blushed from embarrassment. "O-Oh yeah." I chuckle and we start walking, I glance at her hand and slip mine into it.

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
