《Elemental Control: A DC Legends of Tomorrow Fanfiction》Whatever It Takes, Whatever the Cost

[Chapter 36]
I was lounging boredly on Rip's captain seat while Rip, Sara, and Martin were working to fix... whatever the hell was wrong with the ship now.
I wouldn't be much help anyways.
"Time Drive reinitialization complete, Captain," Gideon says. "The primary systems are back online and stable."
"Begin ignition sequence and resume our route to the Vanishing Point," Rip commands.
Mick was sitting on the seats across front the giant console and I was avoiding any sort of interaction with them for the moment. I was relieved to hear that Jax was alive and young again, back in 2016.
And yes... I was relieved that Leonard and Mick were stranded on the ship with us. Even if I have no idea where Leonard is at the moment.
"You're a fool Professor," Mick growls and I roll my eyes, since this was the sixth or seventh time he was complaining about not getting to go back to 2016.
"I'm trying to save Jefferson's life," Stein defends just as Ray came rushing into the bridge, completely out of breath.
"Savage has escaped," Ray said and everyone snaps their heads to Ray.
"What?" Rip asks and I groan.
"What in god's name possessed you to do this Raymond," I pinch the bridge of my nose, already guessing what happened.
"I'm sorry," Ray replies and I give him one of my killer glares, letting him know how much I would love to throttle him for being an idiot.
"Pull up all the surveillance monitors, now!" Rip commands in a panicked rush.
"I'm afraid Vandal Savage has already freed Carter Hall, and is preparing to disengage..." Gideon's voice garbles and then stops completely.
"That can't be good," Sara says as the lights flicker off.
"Gideon's entire operational matrix is offline. And without her help..." Stein starts.
"We'll have to make our approach the old fashioned way." Rip concludes.
"Shouldn't we be more worried about Savage and his brainwashed crony?" Mick asks.
"We wouldn't be having this problem if Big Brain over here used his damn head instead of wanting to prove his masculinity!" I shout but Rip ignores me.
"Yes, which is why I need you and Dr. Palmer and Ms. Light to go and recapture him." Rip gestures us out and I stop listening to the rest of Rip's commands toward Sara and Martin.

I get up and lead the way for Mick and Ray toward the weapons room.
"If we live through this, you bumbling idiot, I might just kill you," Mick growls, pretty much voicing my inner thoughts. I don't scare Ray anymore than necessary though. Fear makes people stupid and careless.
And right now, that's the last thing we need.
My powers won't be incredibly useful on the ship to my dismay. I need the certain elements I want to use to be present, otherwise, my powers are useless.
The only one that would be at full power would be electricity, but that could damage the ship even more. So it's a last resort.
My additional abilities would be useless as well, maybe telekinesis would be useful to grab fallen knives.
But right now, the only thing I can rely on to know won't let me down is my newly sharpened blades and my instincts.
I immediately strap on daggers to my belt and I grab the twin blades that I sharpened this morning. They gleam wickedly under the light and I grin wickedly right back.
I grab a few of Rip's laser guns but when it comes down to it, I'm going to rely on my training over hundreds of years instead of the flimsy mortal weapon.
I tuck a few hunting daggers into my boots and sleeves, and then pick up the twin blades and rush to where I hear blasts on the far side of the ship.
I see Leonard and Kendra avoid the gleam of laser blasts that were undoubtedly coming from Savage.
I shrug off the wonder of what Leonard was doing with Kendra and feel my blood pound under my skin, excited to battle. I knew my violet eyes were gleaming with excitement as well.
"Came to join the party?" Leonard yells at us over the sound of blasts. Mick and Ray were trailing behind me.
"Please, the party doesn't start until I arrive," I reply, a wicked grin working its way onto my face.
"You should have left me back in 2166!" Savage yells, drowning out whatever it was that Leonard was going to say.
"Yeah, yeah, we know that, mullethead," Mick shouts back.
"Who are you to stand up against me, Vandal Savage, destroyer of empires?" Savage roars, shooting at where he assumed we were. Which was dangerously accurate.

"Leonard Snart, robber of ATMs!" Leonard shouts back and turns the corner, shooting at Savage with his ice gun.
Carter comes strutting in the other door at the end of the hall, Kendra's mace in his hand.
"It's still two against five," Mick shouts as Ray points his hand toward Carter.
Mick, Leonard, and Ray rush toward Savage and me and Kendra share a glance and I nod at her.
Carter is yours. I will only step in if you need me, I tell her.
A blast sounds at the end where Savage was and I watch Leonard and Mick fall to the ground, Ray only a second behind them.
Savage turns to me and I return his cold gaze, twirling the twin blades in my hands as I advance.
"Finally, a worthy opponent," Savage laughs.
"I'm so honored I'm deemed worthy for you," I drawl sarcastically.
"All those who belong to me are worthy," Savage says but I ignore it. It's just him trying to get into my head.
"I belong only to myself," I growl and attack.
I slash both of my blades toward Savage with inhumane speed but Savage feints back and raises his gun. I advance again, throwing one blade to knock out his gun and the other to attack his undefended side when he moves to protect the gun.
It works and I slash into Savage's right side, drawing blood that makes me smile. And makes me a little more cocky.
I attack Savage, again and again, when all of a sudden, I head Kendra cry out at the other end of the hall.
I whip my head around and see her on the floor, with Carter standing over her.
Savage uses my distraction to knock my blades out of my hands and punch me in the face.
I spit out blood and reach for my hidden daggers when Savage grab my hands with unjustly swiftness and throws me into the wall, my head knocking against it, making me see stars.
I get up again only for Savage to pin me against the wall with a hand against my throat, refusing to let air into my lungs.
"Haven't I taught you love is a weakness? You will always belong to me," Savage purrs in my ear and I spit in his face. Savage merely laughs and whips the gun into my head.
I fall to the ground, gasping desperately for breath and struggle to rise, to help Kendra. To help my friends.
I hate being this helpless. I hate having limits and boundaries that revolve around pain.
I hate myself for only being able to rise, when Kendra defeated Savage herself.
***
I was still feeling that hate toward helplessness when I was playing cards with Leonard and Sara. I still haven't cleared things up with Leonard, but I'm not going to make the first apology.
I don't even have anything to apologize for!
"Did you hear that?" Leonard whips his head toward the door.
"Don't try and distract us," Sara shifts through her cards and I smile at her. But then I hear something myself. A lot of somethings.
"We need to find somewhere to hide," Leonard puts his cards down and rushes toward his door.
"Why do we need to find somewhere to hide?" Sara demands, but I put down my cards as well. I can sense the men on the ship now. And they are coming, quickly.
"Alexa." was Leonards only reply.
Sara was moving now too.
Something had gone wrong with the Time Masters.
"You guys go ahead," I say.
"No," Leonard demands and I give him a knowing smile.
"Something is not right and the Time Masters are most likely arresting everyone on the ship. I can hear them," I grab Leonard's hands. "The team needs me. The only chance we have of breaking them out of there alive would be with me in there and you guys out here."
"No." Leonard repeats. I pull out of his hands and rush down the hall toward the guards. Where Leonard won't follow.
"You'll get me out," I tell him and turn my back to him, walking right into a swarm of guards.
They clearly know who and what I am, because they grabbed and restrained me with rhodium, and kept their weapons at the ready for any sudden movements.
Maybe I have a hero complex right now. Maybe I have a death wish.
Whatever it is, its telling me that there is no way in hell I'm letting the team die.
Whatever it takes, whatever the cost.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

Though it's a standard novel with Reincarnation and Cultivation 'The Inheritor' is not a HAREM and it'll have Romance. The action might take the back seat in the first part of the book. About the Author This is my first novel or any attempt to write something so I'm pretty much a newbie trying to pen down the fantasies rolling in my mind. English isn't my First language so brace yourself for some grammatic potholes. But I'm genuinely working on improving my English but it won't be happening overnight as it's a process, I guess. (for the time being, I'm trying to make it readable with some Grammar checking software) Moreover, I wish to improve my writing skills as the story grows and readers help in spotting mistakes or critics might turn it into a reality.
