《Jotaro Kujo (Part 6) - Remember Us》Is This Okay?

A day went by and Jotaro went to the psychologist provided by the Speedwagon Foundation. When he came to me afterwards, he told me that he felt like he was on the right track. Whatever that meant, I'm glad. He was almost at ease with that possibility of some relief.

Good for him. I was really content that he didn't have to rely on me completely. I was not professional help, and this was taking a toll on my emotions. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to be there for him when he needed help, but I couldn't do everything.

It was a few days later and after yet another appointment, Jotaro was at the beach, knee deep in the water. I came out seeing Jolyne at the porch. She was sitting on a chair relaxing. She was staring out looking out of it. She seemed melancholy.

I looked out seeing Jotaro bending down to look into the water. His pants rolled up, but it was still wet on the edges. The cherry earring dangled from his ear. He was wearing the earring. He didn't have a care in the world as he stuck his hand into the water.

I sat down beside Jolyne. "Hey, how are you doing?"

"Hunh?" Jolyne said snapping out of it.

I repeated, "How are you doing?"

Jolyne was timid as if she had something weighing on her mind."I'll live."

"Honey, Jolyne," I consoled. "Is it the water?"

"No," she said. "I'm just thinking about things."

I waited for her to continue.

"It's like..." she sighed. "We've been through all this, and it's like the world moved on like nothing happened. The world was almost reseted. The world as we knew it was almost destroyed." She shivered, "It doesn't feel right. Why do I get all the nightmares and go through all this, and everything is just... normal?"

I nodded. She had a point. I just had no idea what to say about it. I just wanted to show my support for her. I placed my hand over hers and gave a gentle squeeze.

I saw what happened in their last moments with Pucci. It was nightmarish. Just imagining being there in person sounded terrifying.

Jolyne stared out at her father who just pulled out something from the water. She said, "You know, I envy him." A pause. "He doesn't have to remember what happened. The constant reminders... almost every night... I hate them."

I nodded some more. "Must be terrifying."

"You have no idea."

I didn't.

We stare at Jotaro a little longer. He placed the sea creature back into the water. A small smile grew on his face.

"PTSD," she said. "Hermes said that it could be that. She said that's what Emporio has."

"Oh," I said. I was always so focused on Jotaro, I couldn't see what was going on with her. I haven't even seen Emporio or Hermes since they were at the hospital. I was staring at Jotaro who put the sea creature back into the water.

She called my name, getting my attention. "I have to thank you for being there for me and for Dad as well. Having someone around who know what's going on is a bit refeshing."

"It's no problem at all. I would do it again."

Suddenly, Jotaro appeared outside of the water. Then he appeared closer to us. Each time he appeared to teleport closer to us. Then he appeared on the porch. He quickly walked over to us. He said alarmed, "I can stop time!"

I quickly covered my mouth as I had to stop myself from laughing. "Yes. You've been able to do that for a while now."

"Really?" Jotaro said perturbed. He seemed to blip from one place to another. "Did you see that?"

"No," I said. "Only you can see it. I can't even use my stand on you when you stop time."

"Oh," he said. "So what does it looks like to you?"

I said, "It looks like teleporting especially when you move."

"Mm," he said interested. He looked to Jolyne. "Is this okay for me to do?"

Jolyne replied confused, "Hunh?"

"I... uh," he started. "There's something wrong with this."

I sat straight up at that statement. In the past, he said something about fighting DIO with a similar stand ability. He didn't use it again until he had to use it in Morioh. He also did it when fighting Pucci, but it failed him. He only used Star Platinum: The World only during life and death situations. Now he was using it because of curiosity. I had no idea how it would affect him. It may not just trigger some memories, but it may trigger negative ones.

Star Platinum appeared beside Jotaro.

Jotaro also pointed to him and asked, "Is this okay too?"

I asked, "What do you mean 'okay'?"

He stayed quiet as he thought of an answer. Even he didn't know.

Instead, I asked, "How do you feel about it?"

After a long pause, he answered, "Concerned."

I explained, "Well, this guy, Star Platinum, is your stand. Your stand ability is high precision and speed. Also what you just found out, ability to stop time for a few seconds."

"Hm," he muttered. He glanced at his stand which stared back at him. Star looked very fidgety and nervous while Jotaro looked calm as ever. Jotaro was used to hiding how he felt, or it was his stoic composure that forced him to do that. His stand seemed to project how he felt at the moment.

Jotaro looked away from his stand and said, "I'm going inside." As he walked away, his stand disappeared. But not before his stand wrapped his arms around himself as if trying to keep himself together.

"Dad," Jolyne stood up to go after him.

I got up as well to stand behind her. She was worried about him as I was, so I didn't to get in her way.

Jotaro stopped when his daughter called him a second time.

Jolyne went up to him to embrace him. "Let's go inside together." It was like she was trying to find anyway to make it better for him. She seemed a bit shakey in her suggestion. Maybe what she saw in him, was what she saw in himself. She looked over to me and said, "Right?"

"Yeah!" I said as I grabbed Jotaro's hand. "Let's go. I'll fix us some herbal tea." Because the last thing he needed was caffeine.

Jolyne basically pulled us inside.

Our destination was the kitchen. I began fixing up our tea. Jotaro stood at the island while Jolyne stayed close by.

Jolyne pulled out a chair and said, "How bout you sit down?"

He didn't protest. He sat down. He stared out at the window across the kitchen.

Soon I finished fixing the tea, so I sat two mugs in front of them. They both pick theirs up and took a careful sip.

It was just quiet. We sipped our tea in the silence.

After I finished my tea, I asked, "So what's on your mind? Can you make sense of any of it?"

Jotaro took his eyes from the window to me. "If... If I had used it better, everyone would've lived." 'It' was Star Platinum: The World. He put his hand to his ear where the cherry earring was in. He looked at Jolyne and said, "I'm sorry." He reached out to her shoulder and patted her shoulder.

"Dad," she said. "It's not your fault."

He didn't say anything. He pulled his hat down over his eyes. He was so calm and peaceful earlier. This was sad to see.

"Really," I said. I wasn't sure which instance he was talking about, but I was sure he was talking about both: when he was younger and when he was saving his daughter. I rubbed his back. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You've tried your best, and that is what matters. You've save many others."

"Mm," he nodded.

We sat in the silence a little longer until Jotaro left to go take a shower.

Jolyne sighed, "I really worry about him. I'm just glad that he has you. It's like you can always put him at ease."

I scoffed, "No, no where near always. There is only so much I can do. I wish I could help him better."

"But," Jolyne said, making a point with my earlier one. "You are trying your best, right?

A smile spread on my face. "Don't use my words back on me."

Jolyne shrugged, "But isn't it the truth? It is what it is."

"Yeah... thanks."

Later, I found Jotaro in bed. He was snoring and fast asleep. He tended to sleep when he gets on edge for an extended about of time. He looked calm, and I was glad.

I got cleaned up and decided to sit on the bed beside him with a book. I played with his hair.

This man meant a lot to me. I would do anything for him. If there was anything I could do to make him feel better, I would. I wanted him to convince him that everything was okay. I whispered, "I love you, hun."

A smile grew on Jotaro's face. "Mm," he mumbled. "I love you too." He opened his eyes looking up at me.

Yeah, I would do anything for him.
