A few chapters back, you gave the ungrateful wretch a present and he hated it.

Now it's your turn. He gives you a vacuum cleaner or a Peloton or something (although hey, I'd actually be thrilled if my significant other gave me a Peloton, even if he were insinuating I need to lose a few)...you hate it and can't hide your disappointment.

Here's how he reacts.

-Eyes go big and puppy-dog sad

-"You don't like it!"

-Feeling horrible, you protest "Yes, yes, I do"

-He shakes his head. "I can tell. I thought you wanted one. I saw a bunch of ads for it pop up on your Facebook algorithm one day when you left your laptop open."

-Confused, you realize you must have responded to a comment from your grandma on FB and that triggered a stream of ads for the crappy item

-"What? You actually don't like what I got you?"

-"Why did you buy me this? It's awful"

-Gets mad and screams Chigau! Chigau! Chigau!

-Oh geez. You should have just acted happy about it

-When he sees you don't like the present, he instantly produces a receipt and tells you to exchange it for something you do want. "But do it before 30 days or they won't take it back. Oh, and don't think I'm cheap, okay? But I did some extensive comparison shopping to get the best price, so you might be a little surprised at the deal I got"

-Vacillates between irritation, anger, and hurt feelings that you didn't like this thing he took so much time to pick out for you, but puts on a face for show

-Tells himself you're a loser and that you don't know a good thing when you see it

-"You don't dig it?"

-(Grins)

-"Okay then, get on over here, I'll give you something else"

-Tilts head to the side, quizzically, at your disappointed expression

-"You don't actually want anything, do you? Oh? Enlighten me, then"

-(Is that really what he said, Mr. Satotz?)

-(Yes. Those were his exact words.)

-Chrollo has bank so he usually doesn't misstep with gifts, he isn't one to give you anything cheap or shitty, but the problem is, he's self-centered and bought something thinking of what he would like more than what you would like

-"Chrollo, it's almost summertime, I really don't need a full-length coat with a fur collar right now. And my ears are pierced so I don't need these screw-on things"

-Fei has no concept of gift-giving

-He went to CVS and picked up the first thing that caught his eye, which was literally a six-pack of Glade air fresheners

-"You can't be serious"

-He sees you are displeased and tries to wheedle you out of your bad mood. "Aren't you my girly-girl? I thought girls like perfume..."

-This scenario does not apply to Shalnark because he is the only normal one in the group. He bought you a nice present and you were pleased that someone has half a brain around here.
