-You ignore him and bring home a dog you adopted from a rescue group
-Leorio, against his will, falls in love and pampers the heck out of the dumb dog
-Gives the dog half his dinner every night and dresses it up in little dog clothes
-Isn't into animals really
-Doesn't have a soft spot for such things
-He'll ignore the dog except if it has an accident inside the house, then he'll be pissed off
-Grumbles about this
-Says "Why don't you just borrow Mike?"

-Doesn't really care if you get a dog; he will pat it on the head, and all that
-Says "I'm gone all the time, I can't help you take care of a dog, but if you want it, fine"
-You decide to buy a purebred exotic breed, like an Afghan hound or something, because it seems to go with his aesthetic

-Says that you should leave the choosing of the dog up to him, he'll pick the perfect pet for you two
