《Waxing Gibbous》Umm.... What? (A)

The next few days flew by quickly. I spent several days with Rosalie alone in my bed.

The events come in blurs, the dresses on the floor, the gentle caresses and no bars held. I remember biting Rosalie's collarbone, I remember feeling her teeth on my skin, her moans and whimpers, the snapping of wood and ripping of sheets. But none of that mattered the next few days when we did it all again. When Rosalie needed to hunt I decided to go to La Push, where I would spend some time with my other family.

Rosalie planned to be gone for a few days, she would go further out with everyone with the exception of Carlisle and Esme. They were going further out, and would be gone for a few days. That was okay though because I had a few days to spend with Leah and the others.

Today we were hanging out on the beach, everyone from the pack and their imprints.

Quil with Lia, Sam and Emily, Jared and Kim, Paul, and Rachel. Leah and I decided to join, Jared, Paul, and Sam in a game of soccer. Sam acted as keeper because of odd numbers and instead of getting it past him if you got the ball to him it was a goal.

Currently Leah and I were up by one. At least until Paul pushed me over and Jared stole the ball. I stood up laughing, while dusting the sand off my legs "that's cheating"

"all's fair in soccer" he chuckled.

All of us were drawn out of the serene atmosphere when Jacob spoke. "at least I'll get one thing out of it"

We all knew where this was heading. Jacob had a sick smirk on his face, Seth, who was sitting next to him looked on in disbelief.

Jacob wasn't any better, in fact he was happy for them to turn Bella – not so she could be happy but because he was under the impression he could kill them.

"No, you won't" Sam interrupted, Jacob's face turned stoic. "The Cullen's are not a danger. To the town or the tribe"

Leah and I approached. Jacob's expression was turning dark. "well, he's either going to kill her or change her. the treaty says- "

"I say Jacob. I say" Sam said sternly looking at the boy, before walking away. Leah stayed by my side.

"You know if you wanted things to be different you should've become alpha" Embry added.

"well turning it down seemed like a good idea at the time"

My eyes narrowed but before I could say anything Seth spoke up "Jake, do you really think you could kill Bella if she came back as one of them?"

"No, he'll make one of us do it, then hold a grudge against us" Leah interrupted sitting down. She was right, Jacob wouldn't do it.

"shut up Leah" Jacob grumbled.

"it doesn't matter. You didn't imprint on her, and she chose Edward. Move on Jacob" I replied glaring at the boy "and if you think for one second I'm going to let you start a war for someone who doesn't want you then you are mistaken"

"it's the treaty. Besides you're not even a real Quileute."

"yeah, but I can still kick your ass. I won't hesitate to hurt you if you threaten Rosalie."

Leah turned to look at me a nod "I'm with Alex. Bella made her choice and she's happy." Her eyes glanced at the others with their imprints.

"At least they seem happy." Seth added his enthusiasm contagious. They did seem happy, it sucked that their genes told them they had to be whatever their imprint wanted or if they left they would die. I get the whole soulmate thing; I do and if Rosalie died I would be heartbroken. I would like to think I would still survive; I could live without her if I had too. I didn't want to, but I could for my family.

"Yeah, some people are just lucky, I guess." Embry replied a little disgruntled, while looking at Quil, his one friend. He and Jacob were not really much along the lines of friends, but Quil still was.

Too bad his imprint kept him away. The one downfall of the imprint, they never want to be apart or rather hurt to be apart.

"Lucky? None of them belong to themselves anymore. And the sickest part is their genes tell them they're happy about it" Jacob grumbled.

"If you're so against the imprint go find someone else. There are a hundred options in this area alone. Go nuts. Stop moping about someone you were never with and find someone. It's not hard" I replied shaking my head. No one said anything more as we watched the other members.

The tense silence is broken by a phone call-as all silence is. The caller was Lucia.

I got up and put some distance between me and the others so that they couldn't hear anything other than my voice. Lucia never called so it must have been important.

"hello?"

"Alex... thank goodness. Are you alone?"

"close enough. Why?"

"can you come by?"

"yeah, do you need it now?" I asked getting the idea that no one should know what we were talking about. As far as they know I'm talking to my mom. Thankfully Lucia got my hint.

"yeah, as soon as possible actually"

"okay, I get right on that" with a goodbye I hung up the phone before turning to Sam.

"hey, I gotta go. My mom wants me to pick something up for dinner"

"ok, we'll see you soon" I waved to everyone and giving them a nod goodbye. I calmly walked to my car trying to give off the idea that I wasn't confused or worried.

Why hadn't Rosalie called me, what was going on?

I drove normally until I was far enough away that the pack wouldn't hear me. Then I sped to the Cullen's house. I pulled down the dirt drive.

Carlisle greeted me the moment I stepped out of the car, his face was worn down and tired looking. Which added to the concern I had radiating through my body.

"Carlisle? What's wrong?"

"Hello Alex"

"is everything okay? Because Lucia doesn't usually call and she was very short and too the point"

Carlisle led me into the other room. They were all here, all together, but that was not what froze me where I stood and had my jaw dropping to the floor.

Edward.

I'd seen him angry, and I'd seen him arrogant, and once I'd seen him in pain. But this—this was beyond agony. His eyes were half-crazed. He didn't look up when we entered, his eyes stared down at the couch with an expression like someone had lit him on fire..

His hands were rigid claws at his side.

Bella was half-hidden behind the arm of the sofa, curled up in a loose fetal position, her arms wrapped around her knees. For a long second I could see nothing except that she was still Bella the human, her skin still a fragile, pale girl, her eyes still the same chocolate brown.

Then I really saw her.

There were deep circles under her eyes, dark circles that jumped out because her face was all haggard. Was she thinner? Her skin seemed tight—like her cheekbones might break right through it. Most of her dark hair was pulled away from her face into a messy knot, but a few strands stuck limply to her forehead and neck, to the sheen of sweat that covered her skin. There was something about her fingers and wrists that looked so fragile it was scary.

She was sick. Very sick.

There was something else pulling at me, dragging my eyes away from the frail and sickly Bella. One very important person was missing. My eyes scanned the room searching.

"there is a few things we need to discuss" Carlisle's calm voice rang through the air. But I couldn't think of it all I could think about was Rosalie, why wasn't she here with her family?

I must have had a small break through because Edward answered me "she'd upstairs with Esme"

"I don't... I don't understand."

Lucia helped Bella stand up and I could see, exactly what was the cause of concern. Lucia pulled Bella off the couch. Edward stayed where he was, sagging forward till his face was buried in the cushions. The blanket fell to the ground at Bella's feet.

Bella's body was swollen, her torso ballooning out in a strange, sick way. It strained against the faded gray sweatshirt that was way too big for her shoulders and arms. The rest of her seemed thinner, like the big bulge had grown out of what it had sucked from her. It took me a second to realize what the deformed part was—I didn't understand until she folded her hands tenderly around her bloated stomach, one above and one below.

Like she was cradling it.

I saw it then, but I still couldn't believe it. I'd seen her just a month ago. There was no way she could be pregnant. Not that pregnant.

Except that she was.

"I don't... this is..." my eyes met Edwards. I was so confused but that confusion turned tenfold when I smelled Rosalie, she entered the room with Esme, Emmett was helping her slightly.

It was then I saw Rosalie. She looked different, still beautiful, but there was a noticeable difference something she shared with Bella, a swollen stomach. It wasn't nearly as big as Bella's; it actually wasn't big at all and if Rosalie hadn't had a hand on it I wouldn't have noticed it right away. It was tiny bump. But she too had dark circles under her eyes, her cheeks look a little sunken in.

"what?" my eyes flickered to Rosalie's I didn't know what to think, vampires couldn't get pregnant, and I couldn't get her pregnant so how did this happen. Lucia stepped up handing me one of the old journals that Hector gave me.

"it happened once before... well not with a vampire but two women. See here. Female Amarok's are born with the ability to both impregnate and be impregnated. Males are born with the ability to make infertile females fertile."

I looked up at Carlisle, the only doctor "are you saying I have sperm? Because that's impossible" I breathed out, still not believing it, but would rather believe that than think Rosalie somehow gained the ability to get pregnant and cheated.

"I got a copy of your medical records. When you were a kid you broke some bones and needed an x-ray" Carlisle held the item up and pointed to two spots "these are your ovaries and uterus... and right here" he pointed to two more spots that looked like small balls "are exactly where testes are."

I blinked owlishly looking between everyone and the book. "okay... okay. but that doesn't explain how Rosalie is pregnant... I though she couldn't"

"that's also in there" Lucia pointed out.

I looked at the book, really wishing I had read it all before. When reaching sexual maturity, an Amarok will feel the desire to bite their mate. I blanched, but continued reading. Injecting their venom into their mate ensuring compatibility and fertility.

The others waited for me to finish reading the passage, clearly having already known this before. "why didn't you say anything before?" I asked looking up at everyone.

"we didn't realize it until a little while ago" Lucia added looking at Rosalie "she was focused on Bella. I began digging and that's when I called you"

I nodded my head swimming with so many thoughts and emotions. I couldn't understand any of it. I impregnated my vampire fiancé... then everything turned black.
