《Waxing Gibbous》Total Misunderstanding (A)

Alice and I were back to Forks before the end of the school day; it was nice to spend my day off doing something more than patrol. I knew my whole night would be consumed by it.

"thanks for spending time with me today. It was nice to relax and not have to worry" Alice replied.

"no problem and thank you for helping me get the ring" I replied patting my pocket.

She smiled widely "I enjoyed it, and you make my sister happy." She paused grabbing something from the back seat. "Oh, and here, your dress"

She handed me the hanger and I nodded a thanks before heading inside. I was a little worried about the dress, I could only hope Rose didn't choose something too flashy.

When I stepped inside, I was surprised to see Eve home so early. "hey Al"

"you're home early"

She nodded "yeah, not a lot of surgeries. I suppose everything in Seattle is scaring people from going outside. Plus, all the hikers recently. No one goes anywhere or does anything, so they don't need surgery."

I chuckled at her expression, only a surgeon would be upset that people weren't getting hurt.

"what about you, did you have fun?"

I nodded "yeah, I helped Alice pick out some decorations and got a dress..." I trailed off. I wanted to tell them but there was still fear on how they would respond.

"and the other thing?" my expression must have shown fear or dread because Eve then said "woah, Al, whatever it is you can tell me."

I sighed and nodded; I could trust Eve with anything. I reached into my pocket. "this is a secret" I placed the box on the counter.

"Al? is that what I think it is?" I only nodded "are you sure?"

"She's it, Eve. She's the only one and I know its soon but its time. Plus, we don't have to get married right away."

"married?" I heard from behind me. How hadn't I heard her walk inside. Eve and I looked like two children caught with a hand in a cookie jar.

"god, she's everywhere..." Eve whispered.

My mom walked towards us her eyes narrowed on the box sitting on the counter. I let out a breath, I wasn't ashamed of Rosalie, and I was going to send my life with her.

"yeah... I'm going to spend my life with Rose. She's it, there's never going to be anyone else. We've talked about and discussed what's to come. We both want this."

My mom looked at me with understanding in her eyes. I shouldn't have been surprised, she accepted that her daughter was a giant wolf. "let's see it"

Like Alice they both gushed over the item, but I didn't have time to say anything because I needed to get to patrol. It was easier for me to do it at night because the others had class. But now everyone is out of school, Sam doesn't think we need to worry about Bella anymore. It's been two weeks and we haven't gotten a sniff of a vampire since. I agreed with him to a point, if the vampire hadn't come back yet then he may never. But we kept up patrol in our area just in case something happened.

We did worry that what was happening in Seattle would come to Forks but we were keeping an eye on the situation.

Leah and I finished patrol before walking around the beach. She already graduated and was ready to do something else, anything really. But she didn't want to leave La Push because it would make her feel like she was abandoning her family.

Part of her was afraid she couldn't.

"I don't know what to do." she replied throwing a rock into the water.

"I don't think any of us do. You could stop phasing, grow old but that takes time. It's like joining the military. You phase and have a mandatory sentence"

"that's a perfect example, actually. What about you? What are you going to do when they leave?"

I sighed "I'll go with them; I don't know how but I'll figure it out. Actually I... I bought a ring. I know it's fast but"

"she's it... I know how you feel about her. hell, I love her from the way you talk about her... And from what I've seen she's this great person... now I need to find that"

"you will, I promise. Even if I have to drag you to Antarctica. You deserve it, you deserve someone who can give you everything you ever wanted."

Leah chuckled "wow, if you were a guy, I would definitely be trying to date you"

I let out a laugh "I am pretty great huh?"

"ha-ha, so full of it" she grumbled trying to give me a noogie.

After a few hours Leah left me to my devices. I had stayed behind for a little bit of peace before heading home. The river wound through La Push right between the mountains, it was a beautiful place to go kayaking.

As I started heading home, I realized for the first time that I wasn't alone. Two figures, male and female. My eyes widened as I watched the interaction.

Jacob pushed himself forward and attached his lips to Bella's, who let her hands fall to her side. Before pushing him off of her. i watched as Bella pulled her hand back and punched Jacob in the face, the crunching of bones did not go unheard from me.

"Bella?" I ask as I got closer to the girl clearly in pain. Jacob looked up at me shocked, but it soon turned to anger as Bella stepped out of his reach and backed up towards me. I looked at her hand, clearly seeing the disfiguration and discoloration already. It was worse than mine when I punched a human.

I glared at Jacob and pushed him back "you can't just do that. You can't force yourself on someone" I growled.

"she wasn't complaining"

"she punched you, she tried to push you away"

"enough" Bella said still cradling her hand, glaring at Jacob. I turned to her, looking at her hand.

"it's definitely broken" I replied barely touching the broken hand "come on, I take you home... or to Carlisle."

"I can do that" Jacob replied. "besides you brought your bike"

I glared at the boy, but he was right. Bella wouldn't be able to hold onto me, I couldn't run with her. "let me take you home Bella" Jacob said trying to wrap a hand around her waist. I pushed his hand away.

"Fine" she said through gritted teeth "Do! I can't wait to see what Edward does to you! I hope he snaps your neck, you pushy, obnoxious, moronic DOG!"

I looked between them; Bella really didn't look like she wanted to, but she didn't have much of a choice if she wanted to get home in a timely manner. "don't worry," I looked at her "I'll be right behind you the entire time"

The entire ride home I could hear Jacob trying to convince Bella that she was in love with him, to give him a chance, yada, yada. We pulled up to the Swan residence a few seconds before Edward.

I walked with Bella, I knew the moment Edward showed up there would be fight, the last thing I need is for Charlie to see it. We were right outside the stairs when Edward appeared in front of Jacob, his hand on Jacobs shoulder.

"if you ever, touch her against her will again"

"Edward.... Jacob" Bella pleaded trying to stop the incoming fight.

"she's not sure what she wants" Jacob growled.

"it clearly wasn't you." I answered trying to push him back and separate him from Edward.

"Don't do this here" Bella pleaded trying to use her good hand to get in between the boys.

"well let me give you a clue. Wait for her to say the words"

"Fine, and she will" Jacob growled.

"Jacob just go home, it's over. What you did was unacceptable." I said lowly glaring at the boy and pushing him back.

"hey, hey, hey. Easy guys. Easy" Charlie approached separating the three of us "alright, what's going on?"

I glared at Jacob who seemed to shrink slightly under Charlie's gaze. Jacob finally spoke, not looking anyone in the eyes "I kissed Bella" Charlie looked between Jacob and Bella, trying to figure out exactly what was going on "and she broke her hand. Punching my face. Total miss understanding"
