《Waxing Gibbous》The Chase (A)

After our week vacation, Leah and I had to return home. We were more relaxed and better you could say. Calmer.
The pack seemed happy about that, except Jacob. He hadn't changed at all, still moping and angry. Embry was the one on his bad side this time. All he said was he should try some methods that Leah and I learned.
For once Jacob got in trouble, or was on the stern end of Sam's response. Leah and I found out that Emily said something, she told him that the pack was unfairly treating Leah and me. They should be more accepting and respecting of our emotions. Sam was trying, it wasn't perfect, but they were trying.
When I got home my mom was just leaving for a date night with Charlie. She bid me goodbye and that left me and Eve.
"so, how was your vacation with Leah?" She smirked. My eyes narrowed.
"not like that, Leah's my friend. But it was good, we got a break, Korinna taught us some techniques to control our emotions. Yoga was one of them. We really just spent the week camping"
"yeah, camping in the middle of nowhere. Don't tell people that, they'll think something more was happening"
"you're funny." I replied sarcastically.
Eve smiled "I try to be. But seriously it's probably a good thing that you got away. If you spend more time with your little girly friend you might as well move in"
"not my girlfriend." I mumbled
"that's your prerogative, but you better chill if Val finds out we're both in trouble" my eyes widened. If my mom found out she would almost demand she meet her and then it would really look like we were dating. I didn't want to do that.
"well, I'm going to bed" I entered my room to find the tiny pixie sitting on my bed. I knew she was here the moment I pulled into the drive, but I couldn't give that away. It would make the teasing worse if Eve knew there was a girl in my room. "Alice?"
She turned to look at me her eyes full of shock "you're back"
"Yeah, I'm assuming that since you're in my room in the dark there was something you needed."
"oh yeah. But I'm glad you're back, I missed our talks."
"Leah and I just needed a break." I saw Alice purse her lips. She definitely heard what Eve was talking about. "So, what's up?"

"Edward is taking Bella to Jacksonville this weekend. We think Victoria is going to attempt another attack this weekend"
I nodded "we'll keep our eyes open"
"now do you want to tell me what happened? Why'd you leave?"
"So much. I mean surrounded by guys who think emotions aren't good or think that my emotions are just hormones and not valid complaints or issues."
"I'm sorry. You know you could always come to our house; I'm sure Lucia and Emmett would love to hear about your bear hunts. And Jasper likes that he can't smell you it makes him feel more in control."
"but Rosalie... I don't want to impose. Plus, I have Leah, she is my imprint after all"
"I thought imprints were like soulmates"
I shook my head "no, I mean for the Quileutes, yeah, but for me it's just someone who leaves a mark on my life and someone I leave a mark on. You know. Someone who makes you better"
"hmm" Alice furrowed her brows "well, I better get back. But we're still here if you want to come by" I bid her goodnight and planned to keep my eyes open for the red head.
And keep our eyes open we did. A few times the woman's scent crossed our path, but nothing happened until Saturday. Paul, Leah, and I were running patrol when I caught the scent, it was in the Cullen's territory, and moving fast.
'she's getting close' I told the others as we ran towards the border 'keep moving'
The three of us ran as fast as we could along the river, our paws throwing up dirt the entire time. Leah and I were faster than Paul, but Leah was indeed faster than me. It came in handy because I could relay what I smelt to her, and she could lead.
I heard the running of several others, the Cullens, and smelled the intoxicating scent of Wildberries.
But I wouldn't let that distract me, the redhead was close, I could feel it in my bones, in my paws. Every step got me closer to her. I felt the ground shake slightly from her jumping onto our land. I heard Carlisle call out, proving they knew she crossed the border, and they were chasing her.
"Wait, she's in their territory"
The running continued and we got closer, close enough that Leah could see the devil herself. 'gotcha' she replied. With growl of agreement the three of us pushed ourselves faster.
"She'll get away!" Esme yelled over the sound of running feet. At that exact moment Leah jumped down onto the ledge with Paul and I on her heels.

Twice Leah and I were close enough to grab the red head. As we ran along the cliffs, she began heading towards the Cullen's side, preparing to jump across the river. By now she knew about the boundary and was using it to her advantage. Which put us at a disadvantage.
My feet pounded against the rocks as I gave another burst of speed. Victoria made it to the cliff edge, Leah nearly grabbing her before her feet slid underneath her body. I managed to get close enough to grab the vampires leg but got kicked back into the rocks landing in the cold water below, as Victoria crossed into the Cullen's land.
I had a piece of cloth from my attempt, but it wasn't good enough. I scaled the wall and continued the run with Paul and Leah.
'you, okay?' Leah asked as I reached them again.
'yeah, let's kill this bloodsucker'
'that's what I'm talking about. Let's go!' Paul cheered as the three of us continued the pursuit. I could see the Cullen's closing in, each making a valid attempt, but none were as close as Emmett or Lucia.
My body hummed, Emmett was getting closer, and Victoria would have to jump across the border. 'she'll jump back over soon. Be ready' I pushed myself faster, before launching myself through the air hoping to grab the red head once again.
It worked, to a point. The moment I grabbed her shoulder I felt a hard weight barrel into me from one side and them another from the other side before I crashed back into the cliffs, debris falling around me.
It took me a moment to realize what happened. Emmett had decided to do the same thing I did. The only problem was where I was going to catch her in the air just before she touched Quileute lands Emmett launched himself from his side into our territory.
Paul and Leah launched themselves after me, both aiming for a part of the vampire. Leah managed to get hit by Victoria and throw to the ground on our territory. I was thrown into the rocks below and Paul just barely managed to throw Emmett into 'no mans land' before having a standoff with the male vampire.
Leah got up and chased after Victoria as far as she could go but Victoria jumped the border and got away. She finally came back with Embry and helped me get back onto our side.
I let out a small yelp as I finally stood up. Figuring I broke some ribs maybe dislocated my shoulder. Sue and Emily would be able to help and my mom if I asked.
"Emmett" Carlisle spoke trying to calm the situation. Paul was on edge, not only did a vampire try to get on our land but we failed again, and Victoria is on the run. The only positive was the piece of Victoria's shoulder that I dropped into the water, before scaling the cliff wall.
'Paul, we have to get back.' Embry said.
"We're sorry, Emmett was only trying to get Victoria"
Paul kept pacing the edge growling at Emmett. 'Paul lets go. They know the rules. We have to get back' I said.
Paul seemed to relax a little then stepped back, not taking his eyes off of Emmett. He came over to make sure I was okay before walking off back to Sam's. I looked over the Cullen's, making eye contact with Carlisle.
They hadn't seen me in wolf form before, but I knew my eyes would give it away. I only met a certain pair of golden eyes before turning and walking away, just as she did for me.
Only it was less graceful. Thankfully Leah was nearly as tall as me so she could help me limp back to the pack house. Her and Embry flanked me making sure I didn't fall.
When we got to Sam's I was quickly looked over, I did dislocate my shoulder and Sam had to put it back in. I wasn't sure if it was Victoria or Emmett who dislocated it. It could have happened when Emmett slammed into me or when I was thrown to the ground.
"We were so close, we had her in her jaws. Hell, Alex tore a piece of her off" Paul ranted.
"everything happened at once" I added rotating my shoulder.
"she figured the border out and was using it against us" Leah add handing me some ice.
"we'll need to remind them of the treaty." Sam said looking over everyone.
It didn't take long for Jacob to offer "I'll go, Charlie said Bella was gone this weekend. Need to make sure she's still human" He grumbled.
I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything, I was already tired enough. Sam looked at him, "fine, I'm only allowing this because Alex needs rest, and you need to calm down"

Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Author's note: Being someone with full-time work and with a rolling schedule, I'll update whenever I have time, so no promises on a consistent schedule. *This is a slow paced story with dungeon building elements showing up later on. *In this world, a dungeon seed first needs to prove its worth and only then it gets the chance to become a dungeon core and grow. *All art is by me

Two Existentialists | S.R.
"How many existentialists does it take to screw a lightbulb?" Spencer asked with a small laugh. Once again the room was silent. You faintly heard Agent Rossi mutter, "Don't.""2. One to change the light bulb and one to observe how it symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of cosmic nothingness," he said. The room was silent still, until you laughed. His eyes looked up at yours in confusion. "Wouldn't they sit in the dark and hope that the bulb decided to light again? An existentialist would never change the bulb. He would allow the darkness to exist," you questioned.-#1 #spencerreid#1 #mgg#1 emilyprentiss
