《Her Given (Editing)》Chapter 21 - All is Lost

Today it's Sunday, and right now we're playing a game of Monopoly. The boys had to teach me because I had absolutely no clue how to play. We're in our third hour, and I'm about to freaking explode. The boys said it would take a long time but not this long.

"Guys, I know that I probably suck for this, but can we please be done playing. I think my brain is about to internally combust," I whine.

"Yeah, what she said. I only kept playing because I thought Ava wanted to. But now that she doesn't, I don't want to sit here in torture for another two and a half hours," Coco agrees.

"Yes, we can be done. To be honest, I was bored within the first 45 minutes," Xavier chuckles.

"Thank God," Ash grumbles. "So what are we gonna do now?" He asks.

"Ooh, can we please go play outside. My magic has been buzzing a lot lately, and I need to let it out before something bad happens. One time I went without using my magic for two weeks, and it just burst out of me," I admit.

"What happened after that?" Cole questions, seeming slightly nervous.

"Nothing serious, I just set my room on fire. Mother and Father were not happy about that one."

"You call setting a room on fire 'nothing serious'?" Ash asks, slightly incredulous.

"Well, yeah. It could have been worse; I could have set the entire house on fire."

"Welp," Xavier claps his hands, gaining our attention. "I think we should go now. We don't want to burn our house down."

We walk outside, and I'm shaking with excitement, happy that I finally get to play with the boys' wolves. When we reach the backyard, Xavier tells me to turn around, and I know exactly why. So I turn around without complaint, blushing at the thought of seeing their naked bodies. I know they've already seen mine, but I'm pretty sure if I get even the slightest glimpse of theirs, I won't be able to stop myself from pouncing on them. And I know that if I do that, then I'm never going to get to release my magic.

Once they've finished shifting, I feel a nudge on my hip, exactly where my tattoos are located, and I shiver in response. I take this as my cue to turn back around. And when I do, I'm met with three large wolves. I can immediately tell each apart.

Obviously the auburn one is Xavier, the one with pitch black fur is Ashton, and the golden blonde one is Cole. I'd seen them in my visions before, but I had completely forgot about how big each of them were and how beautiful their coats are.

I raise my hand up and tilt my palm so that it faces the sky. I watch the magic emit in waves, shooting out a beautiful golden light. I smile in content and look to my beautiful wolves. They watch me, mesmerized by the blinding golden light. It truly is a captivating hue.

Before, I never noticed how they have woods behind their house -- similar to my old one in California. I'm assuming they bought this house because of this factor. I haven't been in the real outdoors since I moved, and I'm itching to relish in the scenery once again. I take off into the woods, and the boys follow. They're obviously faster than me, but they're keeping a slower pace than they usually would just so they don't leave me.

I can hear water in the distance, and I turn to follow the sound. The boys follow my lead, and we eventually arrive at a stream. There is beautiful greenery surrounding the water, and I'm captivated by the enchanting scenery that lies before me. I stand there in awe, and I feel my magic buzz beneath my skin. It crawls through my veins, reminding me why we came out to play in the first place.

I spin in a circle. My arms are spread out on either side of me, and I'm laughing and smiling as I begin to float in the air. A golden glow surrounds me as it lifts me in the air. I slowly sink back to the ground and turn to find the guys all wrestling playfully by the water, and I begin to think. I think about how stoked I am in this moment and about my eternal love for the boys.

'This is happiness, and I'll charish this memory for as long as I live. I'd have relived all of my suffering from the past one thousand times over, if it meant that I get to live like this for the rest of my life.'

☆☆☆

We realized that we had been gone for hours, and all our playing caused us to work up an appetite, so we decided to go back home. When we arrived, it was already 8:00, so we all just agreed on ordering dinner. We were all still too tired to make it, and we were all in the mood for Chinese food anyway.

By the time we finished our food, we thought it best to just go to bed because we had school tomorrow. As per our new nightly routine, we went to sleep together. And we all fell asleep blissfully and exhausted.

☆☆☆

I'm awoken by a faint whispering in my left ear. "Avelyn, princess, it's time to wake up," the voice says, obviously Xavier. I groan, dreading the idea of having to go to school. I don't want to leave; I want to stay here, alone with my boys forever. But sadly, that's out of the question.

"Babe, if you don't get up now, we're going to be late for school." Ashton's voice comes from the foot of the bed. My eyes slowly open, and I'm met with three handsome faces all looking at me. "Ugh, fine. I'm getting up." Cole leans down and gives me a quick peck, and I instantly wipe at my lips, absolutely appalled.

"Did you just kiss me?" I ask him.

"Yes..." he replies, confused as to what the problem is.

"Why would you do that? I have morning breath; that's just nasty." He chuckles, relieved that I wasn't actually upset with him kissing me.

"Kitten, I don't care about your morning breath," he rolls his eyes.

"It's your funeral buddy," I grumble, still tired from just waking up.

We get ready for school, and I decide to wear a pair of dark wash, blue highwasted shorts, a white, ruffled crop top, and a pair of black converse. Cole insisted on doing my hair this morning, saying "It's cute, but it would look so much cuter if I curled it." So he did, and now my long, silver hair lays hanging down my back and to my waist.

It looks really pretty today, so I'm definitely not complaining. The boys are dressed in their usual clad. Ashton is wearing his normal black everything -- which makes him look super hot. Cole in his adorning his usual boy next door look, which consists of a pair of light blue jeans, a green shirt, and a pair of black sneakers. Xavier is wearing a pair dark skinny jeans, a plaid shirt, and red sneakers. It's safe to say they all look really fucking hot, like always.

When we arrive at school, we still have about 20 minutes until school starts. So we we just stand outside the courtyard and talk for a fee minutes. I see Sarah across the parking lot getting out of her car, so I run up to her, leaving the boys behind.

"Hey Sarah! How was your weekend?" I greet once I near her. She turns and a smile grows on her face. She looks as lovely as ever. Her long brown hair is thrown in a ponytail, and she's wearing a pretty floral and flowy dress.

"It was great, Ava! How about you? Did you spend the weekend with your boyfriends?" She wiggles her eyebrows, and I giggle at her use of the word boyfriends. I still haven't told her that I live with them, and that they really are my boyfriends now. I choose this moment to fill her in. Now's as good a time as ever; I guess.

"Well you see," I start, wringing my hands together, suddenly nervous for her reaction. "I actually sort of live with them," I confess. "And they actually are my boyfriends now."

"No fucking way!" She exclaims. "That is so not fair! You have three hot boyfriends and I don't even have one! Wait, why do you live with them?"

"Well, that's kind of a long story, and the bell's about to ring."

"But I'll explain later when we have more time," I promise just as the bell rings. She grabs her bag from the backseat, and we both walk back over to the boys.

☆☆☆

The day went by very quickly, and soon I found myself in 7th period -- study hall. I had the huge urge to pee, so I got up to ask the teacher if I can use the bathroom. He dismissed me saying that I needed to be back in five minutes. I nodded and took the pass.

So now I'm here, on my way to the bathroom. I can feel a pair of eyes following me and an intense gaze scrutinizing me. I turn around to see no one there.

'You're just being paranoid, Avelyn. No one is following you.'

After my quick little mental pep talk, I finally make it to the bathroom and sigh with relief that I made it in one piece.

I quickly do my business, flush, and wash my hands. I assume that I only have about a minute left to get back to class, considering I don't actually have anything to check the time. So I exit the bathroom, and as soon as I open the door, I'm met by a blunt force against my head. The harsh blow has me toppling to the floor in an overwhelming amount of pain.

My clear vision soon turns into an obscure blur, but I can still make out a slight silhouette above me. I try squinting my eyes to get a better look, but the blurry haze quickly darkens into a cloud of obscurity and gloominess. And as the murkiness slowly overtakes me, I finally hear my assailant's voice.

"I've got her, boss, and I'm on my way," the very familiar voice lets out.

'Where have I heard that voice before?'

And before I'm completely engulfed in the bleak darkness, I assuredly determine who the voice belongs to.

Mr. Brown.

☆☆☆

I wake with a start and realize that I'm in a room. A very small, insignificant room. I'm sprawled across the floor, and it looks like my captor just threw me in here before their departure.

My head is throbbing, and my heart is pounding a thousand beats a minute. My eyes are wide, as I frantically try to find an escape. Across from me, I see a small wooden chair in the corner of the room. There are patches of dirt scattered throughout and a large metal door on the opposite wall of me. The door holds about 10 locks, and the whole room is metal, I comprehend.

It's cold and dark, and all I'm wearing is the crop top and shorts from earlier. It's muggy in here, and all of these factors lead me to believe I'm in some sort of cellar.

I lift my hand up and try to blast the locks on the door with my golden magic, but the locks don't budge. They're probably magic-proof locks, or something.

I try a few more times, but I soon realize there is no point. My efforts are all for not, and I'm afraid I'll never escape. Suddenly, I hear voices outside of my room. Very familiar voices.

"So now that we have her, what are your plans with her?" Mr. Brown asks.

"Oh you'll see, Ian. But I can promise you this, she will suffer," says a voice that I recognize but can't quite make out. The door suddenly swings open, and I'm met by two faces that I never would have thought to see working together.

I feel a sting in my heart, a pulsing ache. I feel tears form in my eyes, and as much as I try to hold them back, they still manage to break down my walls and flow down my cheeks like a waterfall. The pain. The hurt. The... betrayal.

"S-Sarah?" I croak out, and she laughs at my shock and pain.

"A-Avelyn?" She mocks, a shit eating grin etched onto her face.

"B-but I thought we were f-friends."

"You thought wrong, Avelyn. You're so naive that it's almost laughable," she sneers.

"But I thought you hated Mr. Brown."

She rolls her eyes. "It's called acting sweetheart, and you were just gullible enough to believe it," she smirks, taunting me.

"Why?" Is all I can get out.

"Are you stupid, Avelyn? I mean really, it's not that hard to conclude that I'm a vampire. And you just so happen to supply my favorite meal: blood, pure blood."

I can feel more tears being born in my eyes, cascading down my damp cheeks, and dying on my dry lips. I've never felt such pain. Sure, I've been physically tortured, but I've never experienced something like this -- felt something like this. And God, if it isn't the worst torture I could have ever imagined.

"You're so fucking pathetic," she chuckles. "Now Avelyn, I'm going to leave for a little while, so don't go anywhere." She laughs at her stupid joke, and I whimper in defeat. She glares at me before she exits, and Ian winks. They take their leave, slamming the door on their way out. The sound reverberates throughout the small, metal room, and I'm left shivering from the cold.

So I curl up into a small ball on the floor, my teeth chattering and my heart shattering. I always thought that the rejection from one of my boys would break me, but instead I found that it was the betrayal of my bestfriend. A person whom I trusted, but who in turn just threw my trust away. And with my trust's departure, so went my heart.

As always, until next time...
