《Achilles (Wattys2015)》Chapter 3

I glowered at Achilles as he kept growling at the pack doctor, he is so stubborn when it comes to getting treatment for his wounds. I rolled my eyes, stormed over to them, and pinned him down. He scowled at me, but I only narrowed my eyes. Daring him to fight me. He grumbled something about "Pain in the ass she-wolves" but I chose to act as if I didn't hear him.

Sadie grinned as she watched us, a look of mischief in her eyes. I raised an eyebrow, curious as to what was going through her mind. My pack doctor, Rebecca, quickly finished dressing his wound. She nodded for me to let him go and so I did. Achilles quickly sat up, glaring at Rebecca. She rolled her eyes and left, leaving her mate to tell me how long it will take for him to heal.

"He needs to stay on bed rest for at least two days." her mate, Martin, explained. "If you must go back to your pack then I'm sure Luna Iris-

"Alpha." I mumbled.

He chuckled, "Pain in the ass, Alpha Iris, could drive you."

Achilles laughed, "I'm guessing you've known her for a long time."

Martin smiled warmly at Achilles, "Yes, I'm her god father."

"Ah, I see."

"Well, Achilles, are you going back?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest.

"No, my Beta told me to stay here and rest. Mainly because my bitch of a mother is visiting and he knows how I get when she's there." he growled.

I frowned, "Your mother?"

"Yes, I've hated her ever since I was five."

"Why?"

"I'm not telling you." he snapped.

I glared at him, "Don't be disrespectful, Achilles."

"Well, you were getting into my personal life."

"I was just asking! You could have nicely told me-

"Just fuck off!" he snarled, shoving me out of the way as he stormed out.

I yelped as my head smacked the floor, I groaned, grabbing the side of my head as I watched him storm out the doors. Sadie's eyes were wide with fear as she scurried over to me, but I quickly told her I was okay.

"No, you're not, there is blood dripping from your head to the floor." Sadie stated. "You are not fine."

"Sadie, please, just let it be." I pleaded, standing up.

She sighed, but didn't argue further. I ignored Rebecca and Martin as I chased after Achilles, he is not going to get away with this. I admit, I shouldn't have gotten into his personal life and I'll apologize for that. However, he has no right to treat me like that after I technically saved his ass. I followed his amazing-no, his annoying scent to the forest.

I internally groaned, this idiot better not have tried going home when he's injured like he is. I shifted and sprinted through the trees, easily catching up to him. I shifted back, placing my hand on a tree for support until the world stopped spinning. I then ran and stood in front of him, blocking his path.

He didn't look up, but he did shove me again. Once again, I smacked my head on something. I groaned, swallowing down the sick feeling. I closed my eyes and placed my hand over the even wider wound now. Damn, how strong is he?

"Why are you following me?" he suddenly snarled.

I swallowed again, "I was going to apologize, scold you, and then drive you back to your packhouse since you're already walking there." I mumbled.

He sighed, gently helping me as I started to sway. He carefully sat me down and started to wipe my cracked head with something. I winced and pulled away from him, snapping my eyes open. Guilt was swimming through his eyes, but he didn't say anything.

"I'm sorry for getting into your personal life...I'm just...naturally curious." I whispered.

He looked at my lips for a bit, which confused me, but then focused on my eyes. "It's fine, I shouldn't have done what I did. I'm sorry for being such an ass. Are you alright? Besides the head wound?"

I nodded slightly, "Just sick."

"You probably have a concussion. Damn it, I always do this. I lose my temper and end up hurting everyone that I-

He abruptly stopped himself, his eyes widening. He then shook his head, "The topic of why I hate my mother so much always ticks me off easily. She's the reason I am the way I am today. Heartless, cold, cruel, and dangerous. Everyone that a she-wolf like you should stay away from."

"A she-wolf like me?" I questioned, furrowing my eyebrows.

He frowned, looking at me. "A she-wolf who's as beautiful and strong like you." he whispered, a red tint on his cheeks.

I just stared at him, my own blush forming. He thinks I'm strong and beautiful? I'm neither; goddess, if only he knew I actually cried every single night as I thought of my parents and the fact I wasn't even good enough for my actual mate. Beautiful? I wasn't even pretty enough for him. I looked away, I can't think of him right now.

I could feel the tears form, but I quickly blinked them away. "Thank you." I said in a hushed tone.

He looked at me, "So...am I still welcomed at your packhouse?" he asked awkwardly. "I-I mean, if you don't want-

"No, it's fine." I quickly said.

As we walked back he had to support me, I was still swaying slightly. Right as we walked through the doors Blake was automatically reminding me of things.

"You have to call Alpha Veloces, see if he's coming to the Alpha meeting." he listed off.

"I highly doubt it, he's probably dealing with that new enemy in his territory and the fact his mate is pregnant." I replied, walking with Achilles towards the guest rooms.

"Ah, Alpha Veloces, a very broken man. Good thing his mate is Vanessa, she's perfect for him." Achilles chirped.

"You know Veloces?" I asked.

He nodded, "He's my cousin. Our cousin, Lizzy, is over there right now. Her mother is more like a mother to me than my own."

"Oh."

We silently walked to the guest room beside my room, don't get any dirty thoughts. It's just, I want to make sure he's safe. He laid down in the bed, studying the room. He then looked at me.

"Are you staying?" he asked.

I bit my lip, "I'm sorry, if-

"No, could you? I...I could use someone to talk to. I'm not much of a sleeper."

I smiled, "Neither am I."

"Great, sit down."

I took a seat on the side of his bed and started to talking to him. We carefully dodged the subject about his mother, but when it came to my mate, he knew something was up immediately. He narrowed his eyes.

"What did he do? Or she." he asked.

I shook my head, "He....he cheated on me.

"Why? Is he mentally unstable?"

I chuckled, "No, he's just selfish. I wasn't good enough for him in bed."

"He's a fool then. Cheating on you." he stated.

I blushed once again, "You're the first Alpha who does't treat me like I'm below you."

"Why, it would be nice if you were-

"Stop it with the dirty jokes." I cut him off with a playful glare.

He grinned, "If you were below me-

"Achilles."

"Fine."

"Thank you."

"If you were above me, that would work too. I mean, both ways are quite satis-

"ACHILLES!"

"Awe, is Iris angry?"

"Oh my goddess, you are so annoying!"

"Then why are you keeping me here?" he questioned.

I glowered at him, "Because you're injured."

"Hmmm....is it only that, Alpha Iris?"

I clenched my jaw, "Yes."

He seemed a little disappointed, but there was a gleam of hope in his eyes. He didn't believe me, and frankly, I don't either.
