《I'm Just a Guy. Trans Peter Parker》chapter ten [finale +an]

Nick Fury would arrive a few hours later. Some Avengers stayed by the tower, mostly out of guilt. Others went out either for errands or prior plans.
Peter was back in the Med Bay, per everyone's request. He had eaten a lot more, therefore his healing abilities had started taking effect. The cuts on his face and legs were gone, and his bruises were clearing up. His ribs still had a deep ache, but a lot better than the morning.
Harley had been next to him the entire time, going on about some new ideas he had for the lab. It was a nice change of pace and atmosphere from the conference room.
Peter didn't expect everyone to understand. Heck, he didn't expect everyone to suddenly use the right name or pronouns for him. He's still in shock his parents were able to adjust to the change so quickly. Maybe when you have to switch from "Iron Man" to "Tony" constantly depending on the environment, it becomes habit. It would probably be easy for Nat too, she's gone be several names and identities, she's had to adjust to quickly. Still, he understood this took time.
Coming out is a process for both recipients. The act of coming out itself, making yourself vulnerable and trusting someone with this information, is nerve wracking. And having someone come out to, forcing you to completely change or adjust your behaviors to respect them. Both of these things aren't easy.
Practice is all it is. It takes 21 days to form a habit right? That's less than a month. He can't rush it. Peter knows he has to allow everyone to process this at their own pace. Also, it took Peter years to figure himself out. If he was allowed to thinking about this for years, he only saw it fair to give others the same right.
It's a process that can only be done with time. Peter knows he can't force anyone to respect him. He can't except everyone to. And that's okay. Because he knows in his heart, that the people who love him, will. If they don't, then he probably didn't need them in his life anyway.
Besides, if having your best friend randomly turn into a rage filled green monster is normal, but being trans wasn't? Then the Avengers had a lot of explaining to do.
Stephen and Bruce has been running tests in the labs. Peter heard them mention something about analysis some blood labs. Heck, it was also good practice for when he starts testosterone, hopefully. He's not surprised. His DNA is vastly different to that of an average teenager.
"Nick Fury has arrived." FRIDAY spoke up
suddenly. Everyone's eyes suddenly fell on Peter.
He figured Fury would come up to the Med Bay, seeing as no one wanted him to leave until he was fully recovered.
Truth he told, Fury walked into the Med Bay and signaled everyone out, except for Stephen and Peter. Harley gave him a quick squeeze of the hand and Bruce sent, what he thought, was a reassuring smile.

Fury soon sat by Peter's hospital bed, followed by Tony walking through the doors.
"Alright, mission complete. What more do you want?" Tony started.
Fury turned to face Tony, then did a double take to Peter hooked up to an IV. "What more do I want? Stark, what are you planning to do knowing your kid has been breaking the law for, what was it? Two years?"
Tony rolled his eyes and walked over the other side of Peter's bed, standing across Fury. Both of them completely forgetting the other two heroes in the room.
"I'll figure that out myself. But you're satisfied right? We found out who Spider-Man was. As luck would have it, it was my kid. You see, no threat."
"Well, I'm not satisfied you put the kid in a hospital bed."
"Under who's orders?"
"Touché." Fury put his arms up in mock defense. "But, you are in danger now."
Tony once again rolled his eye, as to ask 'how'.
"If memory serves right, Stark Jr. here was brought in by a man in a red and black suit. Spoiler Alert, it wasn't the Invincibles."
Oh, Peter has nearly forgotten Deadpool was the one to bring him in. That's right! He helped him through that panic attack, even though he's hired to kill him.
"You need to figure out what to do about him, and the best way to protect your family. Since Spider-Man is a minor, he isn't an Avenger and therefore, I have no jurisdiction over him."
"And you have jurisdiction over me? Funny." Tony shot back.
"Laugh all you want, but who covers your ass when you mess up? Cause it sure as hell isn't Pepper alone."
"What I'm trying to say Stark, is Spider-Man's protection is on you now. Like you said, mission complete. We now know who he is and deemed him not a threat. This no longer concerns me."
Peter hadn't even noticed when Stephen had placed his hand on his shoulder. Tony and Fury kept going back and forth. Discussing how to keep Peter safe, and whether or not the Avengers would help. If S.H.I.E.L.D should provide assistance. So on and so on.
They went at it for a couple of minutes. Both Stephen and Peter scares to speak in fear of breaking the momentum the two has going. It was then that it hit Peter how simple this was.
"Um," Peter timidly spoke up and raised his hand, like he was in class. Tony and Fury both whipped their heads at him immediately.
"If this about Deadpool, why not pay him off?" Peter's voice got quieter and quieter.
Both Fury and Tony looked at him with a confused face, urging him to continue.
"Well, he mentioned he had bills to pay, that's why he out to kill me. So, why not just pay him off?"
It sounded like a stupid idea but, Peter was still fascinated by how easily people are swayed with money.

"There! Easy solution!" Tony exclaimed as he threw his hands up in the air.
Fury and Tony kept going at it back and forth. Honestly, Peter had no clue what they were saying. His senses were starting to get overwhelmed. He quietly tapped on Stephen's arm. A silent 'can i leave?'.
Stephen nodded and excused the two of them, not like Tony and Fury heard. He unhooked Peter from the IV tubes and other ones sticking in his arm. Stephen quickly conjured up a portal and transported them into Peter's room.
Peter let out a sign of relief, from
the change of scenery and atmosphere. He quickly threw himself onto his bed, desperately missing the comfort of his Star Wars plushies and blue comforters. After a couple of minutes of silence, Peter simply relaxing, Stephen spoke up.
"I'm proud of you, Peter."
Peter simply shot him a confused glance and readjusted himself on the bed as Stephen took a seat on the foot of the bed.
"When you first came out to us, I told you we would always love and support you, no matter what. If this is moving too fast, please let me know. However, with my status in the medical field and Tony's wealth, he and I decided you could start hormone replacement therapy. If that is what you want."
"Obviously there are still some steps we need to do before you can even apply for the therapy but, the offer is on the table."
"After everything that has happened, Tony and I came to the conclusion that the most important thing we have taken from this entire experience is, you are irreplaceable."
"As much as Tony loves me, adopting you was easily the best decision of his life. Mine as well. Realistically speaking, one of our head medics is a range fuel beast and some of our strongest soldiers are 100+ year old men. No one is in any position to judge you for how you want to live your life."
"I'm not going to sit here and claim to understand what it's like. Everyone has their own experience."
"You're still young. After hours of research, your Dad and I learned that it's best to start this treatment while your young, in order to prevent dysphoria from getting worse. Do you experience dysphoria, Peter?"
He nodded.
"Okay, then I hope this offer helps. I do not care who I have to fight or how much it costs. Having you here with us is more than enough. One thing is for sure, I don't want Tony or I to repeat mistakes others have done which have hurt you."
"I'm not going to pretend and say you aren't lucky. Apparently the statics for accepting families isn't has high as it should be. Plus, you're a Stark. That comes with perks."
"What I'm trying to say, Peter, is. I love you. And I want you to know, we're here for you."
Well, if Peter wasn't crying over the damaged ribs and injures, he sure was crying now.
The weight that had just been taken off his shoulders was... surreal. Was he hearing things right? The option to start testosterone was there? Peter had been dreaming about that for over 18 months.
It's so much. A lot has happened to him in the last few weeks. And you know what, Peter deserved to be happy.

After a crucial 5 months of therapists, diagnosis, blood labs, information meetings, and a million other things, finally Peter was scheduled to start Testosterone.
The therapy was to both, help him get a referral letter stating he was clear to start HRT, and allow him to express his emotions and concerns.
When he finally arrived at the doctors office, the man was incredibly sweet. He offered Peter and his parents several resources incase they would ever need them. He walked them all through the steps of preparing each shot and the proper procedure.
On November 18, Peter was officially on testosterone.
When he got back home, he was met with nothing but overwhelming hugs and support. Ned and Harley had even gotten him a cake celebrating.
It was nice. After years of self isolation and hatred, Peter could finally say he was happy. After years of asking the question 'What's wrong with me?' Peter finally had a confident answer.
Nothing.
Author Note
Hello! Thank you to everyone who has been reading this book since my first chapter upload I believe in 2019. It's been a wild ride! As some of you may know, this book was started when I was in an incredibly dark place in my life and needed an outlet.
This book does not accurately portray what being trans is like as everyone has a different experience. I urge you to go out and hear other trans stories. I am a trans man and therefore a lot of this is heavily influenced by my own life. Some is altered for story telling purposes, obviously. But yes. When I first started writing this book, I was pre-t and wasn't even out to my family. Now, I'm over 8 months on testosterone and have a legal name/gender change on file for the court.
This story holds a special place in my heart and I'm overjoyed I chose to finish it. If it wasn't for all of your reads and votes and comments, I never would have picked this back up again. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
If you are disappointed I didn't address more the situation with the Avengers, I'm sorry but this isn't their story. It's Peter's. This is about him and his journey of acceptance of coming to terms with himself. Giving him the confidence to stop hiding.
So ultimately, thank you for reading my little project. May you all have a wonderful day!
