《Signed, Sober You - Michael Hardy》TWELVE

Louisville, Kentucky
They're incredibly close to Jenna's hometown of Lawrenceburg and she hates every second of it.
She's bitter like a fucking lemon.
"You doin' okay?" Morgan asks. He knows that this is tough for her to be back here.
"Yup."
He bites his lip. "What's up?"
"I don't like it here." She simply says. "Can't wait to leave after the show."
"Hey, there's someone here to see you." Aaron says, leaning against the wall.
"Her or me?"
"Her. C'mon."
Jenna gives Morgan a nervous look then follows her manager out to the floor.
"Jenna."
She stops in her tracks when her eyes land on an all too familiar person; Jake 'Tiny' Wright.
"Tiny, what're you- what're you doin' here?" She asks, crossing her arms as she stands on the stage, looking down at him while he's on the floor.
He still looks so fucking good.
He's gotten more muscular, a full sleeve of tattoos on one arm. His blonde hair is covered by a black cowboy hat but he's still wearing that cross necklace she got him for his birthday one year. It's laying against a nice, clean black t-shirt tucked into a pair of belted Wranglers, tan boots on his feet.
His green eyes run over her body. "You look good." He bites his pretty lip, his straight white teeth peering out.
"What're you doin' here?" She asks again, her inked arms still crossed over her chest, ignoring how her oversized flannel slips off her shoulder, exposing more tattoos and her thin tank top strap.
"Heard you on the radio the other day at the shop and couldn't stop thinkin' 'bout you." He shrugs, flashing that handsomely cocky smile of his. "Then, I saw you was on a tour and that Louisville was a stop and bought myself a ticket to come see you."
She says nothing.
"Your songs are amazin' by the way."
"Yeah, thanks." Her words come out more bitterly than she intended but hey, he deserves it.

Right?
"Jenna, c'mon. You gotta get dressed." Aaron says.
"I'll see you after your show." Tiny says. She just half-ass waves before spinning on her heel to head back to the green room.
"Who was that?" Morgan asks from his spot on the couch. Jenna says nothing as she grabs a pack of cigarettes from the vanity counter along with her lighter. She brushes past him and heads outside where she sits on the steps below the back door.
Morgan pokes his head out. He sighs when he sees her smoking. "You okay?"
"Yep." Morgan sits next to her quietly. "My ex boyfriend is here." She mutters through a cloud of smoke.
"Who?"
"Tiny." She shakes her head. "Said he heard one of my songs and hasn't been able to stop thinkin' 'bout me."
"Tiny?" He snorts. "How'd he get that name?"
"It's not what you think." She says, tapping the ash off her cigarette. "It's not about his dick- definitely not about his dick. It's an oxymoron. He's six foot six."
"That's a tall guy."
"We grew up together and ended up datin' for a few years."
"What happened?"
"He cheated on me." She sighs and stubs her cigarette out.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry."
"It's in the past now. I'm over it. I just thought that I'd never see him again, y'know." She shrugs. "I gotta get ready for the show." She flicks the butt away as she stands, giving Morgan's shoulder a squeeze before heading back inside.
She leaves her hair down and changes into a pair of cutoff shorts, a tank top and that flannel she had on before. She's also barefoot.
She gets the group together to say a prayer before her set then she's waiting backstage for her cue to go on.
She jumps when she feels hands on her hips.
Jenna spins, her hand raised, ready to strike but she softens her rigid posture when she sees who grabbed her.

"Michael!" She laughs, throwing her arms around his neck. She missed him. She missed him so much.
He hugs her back, his nose pressed against her shoulder and his eyes closed. He inhales deeply, his eyes closed.
"What're you doin' here?"
"It's a hometown show. I wasn't gonna miss that." He smiles, brushing his fingers across her cheek.
"Jenna, you're on!"
She smiles at her boyfriend then kisses him. He presses his forehead against hers. "Kick ass, Jenny."
She grins again as she rushes out on the stage. With Michael here, she feels so much calmer. It's nice.
She opens her set with a song she wrote when she started dating Michael.
"The way you toss it in reverse out the driveway. Simple as that you throw me that look and I'm ready to go, baby, you name the highway. Put up this console, let me move in close. Your hand restin' on the steerin' wheel. Show me how that feels..."
She glances over at Michael who's singing along with her and Morgan. Her sight pans out to the crowd in front of her and her eyes stop on Tiny standing off to the side of the barricade with a beer in his hand. Her stomach drops at the smile he sends her.
Jenna looks down at the set list taped to the floor then turns to the band.
"This next song," She breathes with a smile. "Is one I wish I wrote." Her laugh is audible through the speakers. "This next one is one by Carrie Underwood and every time I hear it, I think of my ex-boyfriend, Tiny." She points at him from the stage and somehow there's a light on him. She gives him a couple claps before sending him a sweet, innocent smile. "This one's for you, Tiny." She sees Michael's face fall but she smiles at him.
The band kicks it into Before He Cheats and the intro gets the crowd rowdy. She can feel Tiny glaring at her.
"Right now, he's probably slow dancin' with a bleached-blond tramp and she's probably gettin' frisky. Right now, he's probably buyin' her some fruity little drink 'cause she can't shoot whiskey. Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick showin' her how to shoot a combo and he don't know..."
Jenna is finally getting her revenge. Sure, writing a few songs about the situation helped but this feels so much better.
"I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats. I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights. I slashed a hole in all four tires. Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats..."
When Jenna looks back down into the crowd, Tiny isn't there. She looks past everyone and watches her ex boyfriend duck his way out the door, effectively slamming it behind him.
She's wrapping up her set with the biggest, victorious grin she's ever had, the smile widening even more at the applauds and cheers she gets.
Jenna rushes off stage and into Michael's open arms.
"Holy shit." He says, squeezing her tightly. Her feet are kicked up behind her as she holds his head close to her chest, laughing. "I had no idea you could sound like that! That power you put behind your voice is- holy shit, listen to them."
"Jenna! Jenna! Jenna!"
"What- what?"
"Encore." Michael says. "Go back out there!"
She looks at Aaron who's already nudging her back on stage.
"Well, I just spent my last twenty dollars on a top shelf, go to hell, double shot swallow and a goodbye, have a good life pack of smokes. Yeah, all my plastic's maxed to the limit buyin' that piece of shit one-way ticket. So here's to the lettin' gos and goin' broke..."
Michael has the biggest heart eyes Morgan has ever seen. He smiles as he watches his best friend watch his girlfriend perform. He feels so slimy for even thinking about Jenna that way. He knows that her and Michael are a match made in Heaven.

Art of Mortality
New Synopsis after chapter 56: Long long ago, there was a mortal who despised the gods and envied the immortals. Why do the mortals have to die when the gods wish them to? Why do worlds have to perish when the gods say so? Why do only immortals get to live forever, why not mortals like him? As his family, friends, and his loved one died, he lamented. He wailed, he cried. He cursed the immortals, blasphemed the gods, spat at the heavens. But he was just a mere mortal. His curses were pointless, his blasphemous words were useless, and his spits only returned back to fall on his face. At last, he thought, enough was enough, he would definitely do something about it. He decided that it was time for the multiverse to know what a mortal can do. He was the first mortal to cultivate. Eventually, after a long struggle, he killed the Immortals, enslaved the Gods, and shattered the heavens. He reshaped the multiverse and rewrote his fate. In the end, he reincarnated as he decided upon a grand scheme, a scheme to rule 'All and Always'. He came up with the concept of what is known today as 'Paragon'. And with this, all of reality, 'All and Always', was finally reforming, according to a Mortal's Wish. Synopsis (Old): In the vast and complex multiverse, what can a mortal accomplish? In the grand scheme of things, what can a mortal change? In truth, what is a mortal, and what is mortality? Being mortal is being ordinary, the same as being trash, or so says The World. "No, mortality is an art, and a true mortal is a grand artist. Being the root of all, a mortal can become anything.", says a young mortal boy. Meet Edward Alexander, a mortal boy walking the path against gods and immortals, fighting to the end to rewrite his destiny, and change the grand scheme of things. Can he really change the grand scheme of things? Or maybe he himself is the Grand Schemer? To know the answer, follow Edward Alexnder on his journey to demonstrate the Art of Mortality.*******
